Elgar’s Nimrod performed on doublebass.
In a rather optimistic state of mind I started working on this beautiful piece of music. Besides of being that, it also showed to be a really challenging etude on intonation. I still consider it as a work in progress : )

I heard this masterpiece of sacred music for the very first time at a choire-rehearsal about 30 years ago. It still remains as one of my favourites.

Man if you play this in first position you gotta have lightning fast hands and at the same time having a hard time making the sound smooth.
what kind of bass do you own?
Some german made with no specific luthier. In fact the label inside says it is made by Paul Jombar in Paris 1899 but I think it is just fake label. This bass is german made 100%.

@@nicholasr-m1631 I guess it is because of the way it built.I’m no expert,I just say what I’ve been told. The «extra» wood on the lining on the sides along front and back are a typical german signature...also the «pegs» at the tuningmachines...along some other things;)

Tempest Lizard - Thank you for watching and for nice comment:) Well,intonation and vibrato is two important issues on this piece.(I should have focused a little more on these topics before I did recording I can hear) And tempo do not need to be as slow as this. Check out Nigel Kennedy do this one...a slightly higher tempo... Good luck on your exam👍

is the key you're playing this in different from the given bass melody?
Madigan Jennison - No I dont think so. I Play this in G major wich is the «official» key for this piece. (first note is «G») I ‘ve seen this also transcribed to D major. Maybe to suite the doublebass better(?) I dont know. Thanks for watching anyway😊
