Homeward stretch from Great Saltee Island to Kilmore Quay with some “surfing” at times. Sorry about the poor audio.

Dipped the rail just before this clip as can be seen from the water lying on side deck. A very strong gust off the land caught me unprepared!!

Passing Hook Head, breeze dying off. Apologies for lack of commentary, again!

Outward part of day sail from Kilmore Quay To Hook Head and back along the shore of Ballytiegue Bay on the South East coast of Ireland.
Ive seen most main sheets of the Luggers/LBs cleat to the tiller - I like the clam cleats at 45 degree angle on the deck there. Did you mount them up Mark?
They were mounted when I got the boat. Handy for holding the lower sheet block mid point on the traveller
@@markbates713 Great stuff! Not many Longboats in Ireland - Im after one at the moment based up in Wicklow. Hopefully see you on the water at some point!
Hi Mark, great videos do you still own the Longboat? Im based up in Wicklow and currently in the market for Lugger/Longboat and wondering your thoughts on single handing the Longboat with regard to trailering and beach landing etc. Cheers, Eoghan.
Looks like she's blasting along. Well done, lovely video.
Круто! ❤
That’s a white knuckle ride! I sailed as a kid, would love to get back into it with. Drascombe Dabber, Lugger or Longboat. Watching this makes me feel the pressure on the rigging, I’m assuming the tensioning wires from the top of the wooden mast down to the gunnels are what allow you to keep it full sail like this and really let the longboat lean looks this. 🤷♂️. Most Drascombe sailers seem to never quite get there boats over like this in other videos. Such a beautiful craft.
Just two simple wires tensioned with cord to the eyelets on deck and the wire fore stay, very simple. Learned to sail in this boat, don’t really know much of sailing otherwise. An experienced sailor would be right to say I’m healing too much, but *^#! it. It’s fun.
Very Salty :)
deadly location 🤘🏽
Dracombe's based in Ireland and Scotland always seem to sail better and in rougher weather than ones sailed on the East coast of England. Better boats, or better sailors???????
I’m no expert sailor, learned from scratch myself and probably doing most things a^*# about t*^😜. I do feel the standard rig is under canvassed and hence performs well in a stiff breeze without having to reduce sail and they handle a bit of sea well.
у меня тоже Drascombe
поймали рыбу?
That is a beautiful boat!
Thanks for the video. Love the boat.
