Mods you need 1. Advanced Welding (way better than fiddling with merge blocks. You can detach grind objects, add a weld pad and merge them together.) 2. Grabby Hands (allows you to move objects by hand and lift them into place. When combined with advanced welding, you can easily mount objects to your rover.) These mods are almost essential for the scrapyard survival scenario.

All your stability issues are based on the high mounting point on your vehicle. Your problem could be easily solved by lowing the hitch mounting point, and by adding more wheels to what your towing.

If you mount your connection high on your vehicle, the weight of the load will raise your front wheels and they will lose traction. if you mount your connection low on your vehicle, and high on what your towing, the towed vehicle will nose into the ground.
