In case people didn't know (and I know this is a meme) but this effect is to create the look of wearing polaroid sunglasses. When wearing polaroid sunglasses, everything turns yellowish, and a lot of movies (Bad Boys, for example) would use this effect to show just how hot it is outside. However, over time people stopped associating it with polaroid sunglasses.

The sun: you get UV light, you get UV light, you over there you get sweet sweet sunlight! Everyone gets sunlight !! Except you Mexico, you get yellow. Yellow what? yes.

Looking at it side by side, it’s just silly how yellow it is.

Honestly Breaking Bad really shit the bed when it came to "Mexican" characters. None, NO ONE ever speaks like a Mexican. They all have weird af accents, none sound natural. Not a single one. Its a glaring issue when everything else in the show is PERFECT, but that detail is totally botched.

Anywhere considered "hot" has to have an obnoxious yellow filter over it in movies and shows. It's just like how anytime a movie about Medieval Europe is made, they have to put a blue and gray filter over it to make it look like winter but even more depressing.

That is not why it was yellow...go look at most photos and home movies made in the 70s...they have a yellow tint on them due to the film quality.
