Ty for this video
Thank you so much, saved me time and money taking to the shop as I would not have guessed it was that simple.
I am in the process of rebuilding a R10202 now and found when the bearing wore itself out that it beat and melted the bearing seat in the lower housing. had to replace the complete housing and the rubber plug that goes into the bearing cavity for I think anti-rotation. Figuring out why my 120vac is going to my new motor & brush assembly, but nothing operates. I have done this before with out this headache. Could the new brushes not making contact? 120vac is at the black & white leads before entering the white wire retainer by piercing the insulation after the switch for tracking purposes. Checking this morning for brand new broke parts in the field windings and armature. Thank you for posting and sharing your work.
I cut the arm in 2, then welded a 1/2” wide piece of strap in the middle. Works great.
What makes the signal lights work on the Coleman ut 400
Where did you get the motor and what did it cost?
I think my belt may be bad. There is a banging noise that I think is coming from the belt housing while in Forward. It does not make the noise in Reverse. Is this a symptom of a bad belt?
thank you so much, you made this simple.....
Guys, I appreciate these videos, but please include the WHY. What is the reason for the modification? What symptoms indicate the need for modifying the shift lever or adjusting the shift cable? I'd recommend starting each video, and including int he description, a brief description of the issue you're aiming to resolve. A user probably isn't going to do a search for "Shift lever modification." They're going to search "Not going into gear," or "gears grinding." The only reason I found these videos is because there aren't that many videos on the Coleman UTV. Now I just need to figure out why mine appears to be stuck in 4WD.
Thak u,,,, What belt is the best belt for the UTV Coleman 400? Because I have a hisun and the dANG belt keeps breaking.
The part number for the CVT belt for the UT400 is P003000213000000
Outstanding video!! I had problem that at times forward gear would not completely set and gears growled and more or less "popped" into gear. This video did the trick! I was able to adjust the linkage and have not had a problem since! Thanks so much for helping this non-mechanic fix the problem...
I couldn't find where you told what the distance was between the where the position of the original bolt and where the new one goes. The best I can figure is the new bolt is 3/4" from old bolt position. Is that correct?
What's the part number on the replacement chuck mine won't turn just clicks
My unit will quite often pop out of reverse. Will this correct that issue?
Most expensive part, motor assembly was $63 at the time of this video. Switch is $23.
What’s the total cost of parts? How much savings versus buying a new one?
Great video. Is there a bearing in the output assembly on these? I took mine apart and found 2 ball bearings floating inside?
Bearings are on each end of the motor assembly. Motor comes with new ones pressed on.
@@rgsmallengine4140 Thank you
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, where did you get the bearings from. Thank You
I don't recall you mentioning in the video why you did this modification.
.. NO KIDDING .. "WHY"...??? ... "WHY"...???
Luckily I've been getting away with adjusting the cable for the time being.
I have a 2021 UT400 and it seems to me that I have to give it a bit more gas then needed to get it to start moving and when it does it seems to be holding back until it starts rolling along then it rides good. I have nothing to compare this with to to see whether or not this is normal. Any recommendations?
Do you happen to sell a modified shift lever that I can buy and cross shift my old shift lever?
Can you do one on frontend alinement? My 400 pulls left.
Thankyou. Saved me hours of guessing.
That spring loaded ball under the shifter lever, is that supposed to be directly under the shifter lever or offset slightly? In the video it looks directly under, but on my UTV, facing the firewall, it's slightly towards the left. I'm wondering if that's why when I shift to R or N the coinciding dash light lights up immediately, but when shifting into F, there is about a 2-3 second delay before the F lights up on the dash. Just curious - Thanks.
Lol that was funny. Let me get into my work clothes then the hubby pops up
Hi, I am planning on purchasing the Coleman UT400 and just visited Tractor Supply. They have that model there and said it had been sitting for about 18 months and they haven't been able to sell it because they lost the keys. Besides that, the battery is dead from not being used, the two bolts that hold the flange from the exhaust system to the engine, the gas cap, and a couple reflectors are missing. They said it has no hours on it and they have yet to get the parts. They are selling it for $8999, but will give it to me for $6000 if I want to do the replacement parts. Sounds like a good deal, but I have no way to know if there really are no hours on it without the keys and I am wondering why the nuts on the exhaust are missing. I know other UTVs have dropped those nuts, but that was after a year of driving the UTV. Also, they told me Coleman is going out of business and they aren't selling that UTV anymore. Please advise, because if it is a new, but ill-prepared unit by Coleman, I'd hate to pass up that price. On the other hand, I am skeptical on buying this without knowing for sure if it has any hours on it and if it will even start. Thanks in advance.
Can't really go wrong with a deal like that. Most likely, they are accurate with the low, or no miles. Parts for these are still available through Hisun, so that shouldn't be an issue. That's a great deal, I'd say jump on it!
@@rgsmallengine4140 Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, but concerned without it running and sitting so long if there would be anything else that may be wrong and with my luck, well, I haven't had too much of it lately. But I am leaning towards moving on this in hope what i mentioned above is all that is wrong or missing, as they are easy fixes. And thank you for your quick reply.
@@rgsmallengine4140 Well here is the update and dilemma - please advise. I moved on this and purchased the UTV. After I got it home and made calls to the venues that showed as having parts, they are now telling me the parts will not fit the 2021 UTV. I tried getting the parts from Coleman, but they couldn't guarantee when I would get them, as they are moving to another warehouse location. They told me to deal directly with Hisun. I called Hisun and they said that they are not affiliated with Coleman anymore, so they could not help me and to contact Coleman again. I called Coleman and they said the best they could do was to try and get me the parts a minimum of 3 weeks. Now I have a UTV sitting here that I cannot use and I'm not sure if I can somehow substitute the ignition switch or even get a gas cap, since the design was changed from 2021 on and no one seems to show any parts available for a 2021 Coleman UT400. There are parts for every other model, but none I can find for the 400. Please advise with any way I can rectify this, such as installing a different ignition switch, as long as it has the same 3 wires. I can replace the parts if they were available, but unavailability is the issue. Thank you for any guidance you can give.
Thanks only one that shows the stupid switch on intake side
Fantastic video I'm always fascinated and love learning how these units work and what is in them. I'm glad you were able to fix it.👍🏻 Great High Torque Wrench by RIDGID 💪🏻 RIDGID had put out the R86211 that put out 1,500 ft/lbs another great model but they pulled it.
Do you know the part number for the bracket or exact name of it
Why does my belt keep braking on my ut400 real tree side by side
Sounds like you a drive or driven clutch issue to keep breaking belts. Removal, and a good cleaning to get them to operate smoothly again, and most likely stop destroying expensive belts.
@@rgsmallengine4140 I have one I’m working on, is there a way I can send you a couple pictures to see if you can help me
What size wrench are used on the shifter?
22mm on the big adjusting nuts. 10mm on the not that goes on the shifter shaft.
What was the reason for changing the belt?
Just an informational video on the belt.
Exactly how the video I was looking for. Thx. You didn’t happen to measure the resistance of the old coil primary and secondary and compare It against the new one did you? That would help me troubleshoot mine. Thx!
Great information! Thank you!
Any suggestions on how to get a little more reaction out of the gas pedal from a take off? Mine seems to have great top end speed and power . Thank you!
Thanks for the great information! I’ll definitely be watching and looking for more videos!!
Where did the bracket come from?
Coleman will provide the bracket, or you can fabricate your own. We used one supplied by Coleman.
This was the fix I needed. Tried a few other adjustments first because I wanted to avoid taking out the plate under the seat but nothing worked until I used your suggestion.
Apx. How much do you charge for this complete repair?
Do a complete teardown of the Colman ut400 engine for a video!
Take a look at the modification I made. My version is adjustable it might help you out in the future. ruclips.net/video/fV7WK_is5Fw/видео.html
Did you fab the part or is that something Coleman sells?
You can contact Coleman Powersports and they may provide this tab for you, or you can create your own. We got our from Coleman.
Your first video adjusting the cable, did that work as well or did you have to weld that one too? I was going to losen the locknut on the two ends with the swivle and adjust them out or in as needed then tigjten the nut back down.
On some UTV's, the simple cable adjustment is all that is needed. However, that may not be enough on many others. The cable adjustment, and the welding of the shift tab were done on the same UT400. The adjustment was not enough to get proper shifting on this machine.
Can the gearbox separate from engine, or is it one piece?
It's all one piece.
Can you get transmission parts for this machine?
Yes, visit colemanpowersportsusa.com. You'll find parts diagrams, part numbers and prices all through their website.
Thank you! Have you removed middle shaft in the gearbox?
Tractor supply is running a sale on these for 6999. Is it worth it? I just need something small around the farm that my daughter can take to the nieghbors and the river been using small Toyota puck up bit considering one of these. Thanks for reading extra thanks for opinion 😂
They are a pretty decent machine, and being on sale makes them even better. There's not much on them that isn't easily fixed if something does break.
We will be uploading another video this weekend. Coleman's updated shift lever alteration.
Thanks for mentioning the safety switch on the blower-vac model. Saved me some time and money.
