I tried it but when I merge the two layers and try the "curves" it only changes the color of the shading, not the lineart

Thanks so much for this advice, it's not so much that I'm not confident, I love this for the fact that I am colorblind and finding all these highlights/lowlights/shading and all that makes coloring really difficult for me, especially since my colorblindness revolves more around the in-betweens. I love making art and it was always so difficult for me before this. I love this, thanks!

Hello! I really appreciate you sharing your process. I was wondering, is there a way to colour using the lasso tool but to have the area selected and be made as a gradient? Whenever I try to do that with the lasso tool and click 'Gradient map' it just shows a selection of options but the colours don't really do much and I don't seem to get anywhere. I was looking to create a gradient which would make a sort of ombré shade to hair for example. Thank you so much! Keep up the good work!
