You are relying too much on glue to hold the cylinder to the axle. In time and because of heat, the glue will fail. No good.

Never use rubber with alcohol it deteriorates the rubber. Replace with neoprene.

you should have been on Gilligan's Island with that equipment; you could have been cutting and manufacturing all sorts of stuff along with the Professor.

Nice job. So many detractors are saying the tools are too expensive, yet other than machining your vertical post, there's no reason this could not be done with a circular saw or a panel saw. You just use what you have access to. (I made my first 1m tall speaker boxes 30 years ago with a jigsaw and eyeballs, cos I didn't have access to a circular saw... and I still have them.) And if the post was in good nick already, you wouldn't even need to tune that, you might just sand it (by hand of course, because that's all we can afford). If your work is nice and square, you can avoid the router as well. So I think you did very well, showing a "low cost" design. Only thing I'm not a fan of though, is exposed plywood edges; if it were me, I'd either use edge banding or paint it.

This looks like way too much work for what it looks like. I mean, I cut two plywood squares and screw/glue them to a 4x4 and no one would be the wiser. But this looks like good work for what it's worth. But I'm still slapping two boards to a 4x4. Or two 2x4's
