When its BELOW threshold concentration -> The moment glucose is seen in the urine this is when reabsorption is not equal to filtration, which is what threshold concentration measures For the second question: When does excretion of glucose exceed reabsorption? When its ABOVE transport maximum -> The moment all the channels are saturated in the nephron, the kidney has no capacity to reabsorb at a higher rate, creating the plateau I mentioned, while excretion increases above the reabsorption rate, making it higher above TM OKK HAPPY STUDYING I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST

Hello everyone This is Sara. There is a concept that I forgot to make clear during the lecture, as it’s chemistry from high school so I will just mention it over here. -Oxidation means there’s a loss of electrons, and Reduction means there’s a gain of electrons. The mnemonic I like to remember for that is : OIL RIG Oxidation Is Loss Reduction Is Gain So, if some molecule is oxidized(i.e., lost its electron), another molecule will have to be reduced(i.e., gain that same electron that was lost from the oxidized molecule) This oxidation and reduction can be seen a lot in the pentose phosphate pathway. Example: - Glucose-6-phosphate is oxidized(loses its electron) and gives it to NADP+ , so NADP+ is reduced and becomes NADPH & this is catalyzed by the enzyme G6PD -in the RBCs: NADPH is oxidized (loses its electron) and gives it to glutathione disulfide which is reduced and becomes glutathione & this is catalyzed by the enzyme glutathione reductase Hope it’s clear :) if you have any Qs let me know !
