Thanks for the honest breakdown of your expenses. We are getting ready to start this same process in East Tenn. Your skill at building the retaining wall is amazing. Is there anything you would do differently if you had to start over?
That's a little high for me I have 40 acres in northern ,Michigan I was going to put a mobile home there and was informed by the seller that I had to have a concrete slab Also I need to put a road in and a septic system and I would like a shed The mobile home itself costs 100 k If I have to pay another 75k for prep I might as well stay in an apartment but I grew up there and love the solitude I just didn't realize how costly it will be😏
We almost moved to Florida, but decided to jump into RV Travel instead. That way we could avoid hurricane season. Thanks for showing people the dangers.
About to do this too. Will be in a travel trailer, but want to get all the infrastructure in place and will build the house later on. Our first septic install quote (for a 5 bedroom septic, pressurized system) was $25k, not including electrical or permits. Going to meet the electrician and a different excavation company tomorrow to get more understanding of costs and site plan. We'll be doing a 10x20 shed, insulated, with minisplit as well, plus our washer and dryer. We've had a shed quote for about $4500 (that's delivered and built on site), but that doesn't include insulation or anything else, it's just the shell. Hoping to keep the total shed buildout to around $10 to $12k or less. We had budgeted $12k for water lines (we have a shared well already) and $12k for electrical work, plus $20k for septic install. Not sure if we'll hit those numbers or not. But we are also doing far less distance than you guys did. Maybe 300 to 400 feet for electrical/water piping each (same trench) and our graveled driveway will be about 250ft long total (u-shaped driveway off the 'main' road). Plus it's all flat land. Overall costs are going to determine whether we build a house next year or have to wait an extra year to save up. :) Great idea on putting extra pipes for future internet/cables though. We will be on Starlink for now, but heard that some day/year in the future cable internet will arrive.
Do you have or can you create a video on replacing the fuel filter? Like the engine oil, this is recommended to be replaced every year.
@@rweissen not yet but I will on next change
Absolutely love this family and spot. Definitely at the top of my list!
Great video
I do have a question after watching you change the oil. You showed the two fuel filters and I noticed as you panned back to the oil pan there was another ORANGE FILTER about the size of a regular car oil filter. I am not sure what that is. Can you tell me what that is for? One other question, have you ever changed your air brake air dryer cartridge? If so, is there a video on that?
@@mikefitzpatrick5209 not sure about orange filter I believe that’s the oil filter for the engine your seeing? Last time I did air dryer I had a shop do it as it has to be taken apart on my unit, some of the newer units have a spin on cartridge that’s the same as an oil filter, hope that helps
@@ChasingtheDreamRV Thank you Randy. After watching a couple more videos of yours, I realized that little orange filter was the transmission oil filter. Good to know about the air brake cartridge dryer filter. DO you pull your air brake cables on a regular basis?
@@mikefitzpatrick5209 yup I forgot about that one…I was advised pulling of the cables is not needed if your air dryer is working there should be no moisture to release. Different back in the day when we used to pull them everyday
Finally, I found a you tube channel with VERY HELPFUL tips and maintenance videos. THANK YOU
for a 5th wheel would you try to keep the truck and trailer combined under 40 or just the camper... or maybe the camper plus the width of the truck? (parked)
@@QuadTap if you like the majority of your stays in state or national parks yes under 40 on rig, parking truck usually isn’t an issue because most parks have places if you can’t get it into your site…IMO
Needed this. Gonna help me get off the ground on my build. Unfortunately, I’m in CA so already know some of the contractors are gonna screw me.
Great Job have the same Genne on our Monaco 41 dft. Oil plug same issue had to use a breaker bar first just to get loose, Lol appreciate the video. Happy RVing.
Thanks 👍 Happy RVing right back atcha 😉
I agree. Hurricanes are a good reason to move out of Florida. I prefer our earthquakes.
We'd prefer to skip the earthquakes too☺
As one retired LEO to another, sorry to hear about your dad and glad you survived to storm! Safe Travels!
Thank you. 😔
Sorry about your dad 💔😢😢 We live in Sarasota. We were debating whether to stay or go when we got a call from Sarasota County Monday morning telling us to evacuate. We have a 2006 42' Monaco Dynasty Class A diesel pusher. We did the worlds fastest load job and we left town. We are in Ashford Alabama. We didn't get a drop of rain or even a light breeze. I am glad you are okay. We will probably start heading back on Tuesday.
Glad you made the exit without chaos. We fled back in 2004 (not in a motorhome at that time...still in sticks n bricks) and sat for over 7 hours on the FL tpk. Francis was a nightmare for us. Sending travel mercies your way for a safe return trip ✌🙌💕
Sorry to hear about your father. Glad you guys made it out ok.
Thank you. ✌🙌💕
You got very little poop in your face (dramatic but not poop)what was on the end of the sprayer, and that looks to be dry and crusty. Mostly just water. Why was it under so much pressure?? Could have released the pressure before you started drilling. Should have drilled a couple of horizontal holes while you were at it so it washed the sides.
@@boatme101 The pressure was built up by trying to to do a back flush with the nozzle clogged, there is a back flow preventer that due to the nozzle being clogged would not allow the pressure to release. Drilling too many holes would negate the effectiveness of cleaning the bottom which is where solids accumulate and become calcified. Also I can assure you there was enough sewage and toilet paper in my face for my liking 😂 Thanks for watching 👍
is that the same oil you can use for your generator
I use onanmax 15-40 because I can buy entire kit and that’s what comes in the kit, not sure but probably could use rotella also…would have to ck specs. See generator video
How long u leave it i. There
You put it in the tank and leave it until you empty your black or grey tank. ✌🙌💕

In our 21 33AA we have all the TVs that will blink off for 3-5 seconds at the same time which seems to indicate that it is not the HDMI switches. Same rats nest of cables. I need to get one of the HDMI cable testers. We switched out the HDMI cable to from the receiver, no luck. We had Dish send us new receiver, still happens. BTW, on the Starlink, I am thinking about running cable into the TV/DVD area from the coach battery area for the router as I just ordered the Gen. 3 dish which uses shielded CAT 6. Did you find both Sat 1 and 2 wired? That would help me eliminate a Sat issue
Thanks for watching. I'll have to check with Randy. Sorry for the delay in responding. If you haven't seen the latest video drop, we lost Randy's dad and had to deal with 2 hurricanes. I'll see what he has to say and get back to you. ✌🙌💕

@@AJ-sb8qk you don’t have to have money to be rich. We are rich with life 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing your experience. It's September 2024 now, and I wonder what did you do? Did you renew, did you ever end up recouping your investment? thanks again!😁
@@andys615 We did not renew, the main reason being whenever something happens it usually has to be dealt with immediately or a lot of places won’t accept the warranty. Also the prices went up considerably for us so it’s not really worth it at this point.
Im from Texas. Sorry you didn't like the beach. We do have more nice beaches. South padre is really nice as well and its free!
We definitely will be exploring others. This area was just a little more industrialized than we had anticipated. Still nice to be right on the water (for free) though!!
Is “the right stuff” better for this than the ultra grey that comes in a tube ?
@@gwarner5022 I’ve never had a leak with the right stuff although it is expensive it’s worth it imo, I don’t like doing stuff twice
Doesn't the 35ft close in on you after a while?
@@DAVIDPARTON-n4i we are still living fulltime in Miss Betty. (4+ years now) With the 4 slides it really opens up the space and makes it more like a home. Here’s a walk through of our unit. RV TOUR | TIFFIN ALLEGRO RED 33AA | FULL TIME RV LIVING ruclips.net/video/5-PjBqaUy9w/видео.html
I think there *should* be a limit to how large an RV should be. You want something that's large enough to be comfortable while traveling, but you also don't want it so large that it feels like you're driving a cruise ship around. I don't know if you've ever been on those cruise ships (Holland America, Norwegian Cruise, Royal Caribbean, etc.) but you know they're huge! like being on a city on water. Whether you're a newbie RVer, a part-time RVer or a full-time RVer, you want something that's comfortable, but you also want something you can drive anywhere and not feel like you're taking up a whole parking lot!
We love the size of our 33aa. It fits our lifestyle perfectly. And once we fully retire the word on the street is we will be full time cruisers 😂 we love an ocean cruise ✌🙌💕
@@ChasingtheDreamRV If it works for you, awesome!
72k is honestly not bad to have your entire infrastructure installed and fully functional. It makes sense to do this part now, so you can fully utilize the land while waiting to build your house. Also, the cost of the home build will be significantly less with all services ready to tap into. I plan to follow a similar path when I retire, so I can have a home base to park occasionally and securely store a few things, while traveling most of the time. Nice job!
It's worked out great! Thanks for watching ✌🙌💕
Helps to get a back flush device for when you dump as well keeps tank cleaned out!
We have added that to our arsenal. Just haven't redone the video 😂
I will give this a try because I just bought this RV barely used and have only gone pee in it and man does this thing smell 👃
Should be the cure you need. Fingers Crossed ✌🙌💕
@@ChasingtheDreamRV it seems to work great until about 60-70 percent full

I do my own work and just bought a well cared for very old unit. Had to replace a lot of things but costs are low for parts only. The eninge/ trans only have 60 k so should be good for a while longer not matter the year. Current Ford engines are using internal fan belts in hot oil. Not a good idea in my opinion.

Your video came to the rescue again for me. I’m sitting here at the Grand Canyon, when I hear this awful noise from the A/C. Turned out my squirrel cage broke in half-dozen pieces. I watched this video months ago and ordered an extra cage to keep in the 33AA. I re-watched your video today and headed up to the roof. All fixed in a short time Thanks again for the instructions!
Glad our video had you prepared. Don't forget to order another to have on board. Gotta have that back-up in the wing. Thanks for watching...we really appreciate you!!
@ChasingtheDreamRV I want to change my shower doors with the ones you replaced your doors with. The item number you listed does not match anything in Tiffins parts store. I emailed them with no help. Are you aware of a new part number for the shower door? I’m headed to Red Bay soon. Thank you.
@@corey260 in the video that’s the original part # from the invoice, not sure what’s changed unless Thor has changed them?
Update: I called Tiffin parts back and spoke to a different person. They advised that it is the correct part number, but it’s not listed online any longer . You can only order it in person or on the phone. It’s now $600 😮 I will look for something at Lowe’s and hopefully get the correct size.
@@corey260 wow! That’s crazy.
Have you tried lippert, I would guess you could get it direct from the manufacturer cheaper. I’ll see if I can locate who manufactures the door, Tiffin buys a lot of lippert parts then re labels with their part #
@@ChasingtheDreamRV That would be great. I appreciate that. Let me know if you find something. The ones at Lowe’s seemed to be slightly different in size. My current one measured 68” tall. Not sure how to measure the width. I assume the door opening, in a straight line and not the radial measurement of the glass.
How has the Starlink worked out for you? What is your total internet/wifi solution?
Our starlink has been great. Not sure what information you are looking for in regards to our total internet/wifi solution though. When traveling down the road, we have an standalone netgear box with AT&T and Verizon hotspots on our phone. When parked, the starlink is deployed. Takes no time to set up. Hope that is helpful.
We are getting back into RVing and looking at a DP. I really want to do most of all my own maintenance. Due to reasons not trusting places to complete the service you pay for, like your fuel filter was not changed out on the get set video. This seems a lot easier than I thought. Just like changing my oil in my truck only on a larger scale. Also, watched the air filter video and gen set video. This is awesome!!! Ps love the emblem next to the tail lamp.
Thanks for watching. Glad Randy has inspired others to do their own maintenance too!! Ps I spy with my little eye 👀😝
