👍
🤔hmm I thought that the SDP40F didn’t use hep
Are these still in working order? Want a Geep but atlas seems like they’re the only supplier for new stock at a reasonable price. I’m on the fence about atlas.
Not putting the kapton tape is an unnecessary risk.
Great overview. Thanks
Bnsf ac6000cw 🤔
Can I have one Jk*
Awesome 👍😎👍. I can't wait for my KCS grey ghost to come in soon
Grain Train
But I do have Santa Fe locomotive number 5088 it looks great on my N scale layout
that BN locomotive number 6923 looks good I wished I had that locomotive but i dont not yet
Hey my CSX loco number 8198 has its headlight at the nose of that locomotive it looks great because I put the headlights at the nose to my locomotive
Hey I have that CSX locomotive number 8198 and it runs great on my N scale layout it looks nice and great on my N scale layout
my Santa Fe Cars are numbers 37572 37575 37579 37583 thats what i have so far maybe more to come also
Hey I have this Santa Fe 60 ft Hi cube Waffleside Box Car and i have a few other Santa Fe 60 ft Hi cube Waffleside Box Cars 3:31 and I have many more from other Railroads in this 60 ft Hi cube Waffleside Box Cars and they look nice too
I have some of these tank cars in N scale trains In my N scale train collection I have about 20 or so of these tank cars
Pennsy didn't buy those. They made them.
That train car cost to much that's the only reason why I would not buy it but other than that that's a great car in N scale
Those Are My Favorites!
I will buy me some of these tank cars in N scale trains
SP ran these tank cars in the 1970 s and 1980 s and the early 1990 s in the Tehachapi Loop areas in the Southern California areas
These are great Tank Cars Trains in N scale
10:50 Lokpilots are non sound
By any chance do you know what brand that green BNSF covered hopper is cause I got the same one and there is no brand marking on it
TGV Sud-est it is
Based on my experience, this is a very accurate review. I had the same experience after short use (dead electrical and damaged gears) with my new BLI SD40-2. I sent it back to BLI for repair and they returned it slightly improved but still my worst loco. Love my other BLI locos.
can these locos run on unitrack?
I decided to go with LokSound decoders. I bought the LokProgrammer device from YankeeDabler and don't regret it. It's a very powerful system for programming your locomotives but it makes it so easy to program these once you get the hang of it. I used to use Digitrax but their sound is complete crap in N Scale, plus they all mostly have that one resistor got in the way of lighting, etc. I ended up replacing Digitrax sound decoders with LokSound (7 locomotives) and don't regret it. It was expensive but my happiness is worth the extra cost. I also had burnt ESU decoders and ESU made replacements fast and easy. Tip, if using a sound decoder, be it ESU or others, and want a speaker, go with the ESU 50342 speaker. It fits most of these locomotives easy and are really powerful. The other choice is ESU 50321 speaker but that one is a little bigger so your choices of locomotives may be very limited. I'm an ESU fan for now and it will take a lot for me to look at another decoder and speaker brand.
I was able to buy a paragon 3 ac6000 from BLI for $180.00 on sale and honestly it's my favorite loco in my fleet. I like ScaleTrains a lot but their products are wayyyyyy too fragile. There are some parts that imho shouldn't be seperate to prevent breakage. I have another one to pull out of the box actually. Chessie SD40-2.
I just got the sd40f today
Great video👍 How long is a 8 car set?
Thanks. I just bought one of these on eBay and it was nice to get a quick view of the decoder install before ordering a decoder and digging into it. Looks about as simple as other Kato installs I've done.
Hi great review. If you go to "select" you will get a list of your locos on the left, on my unit there is also a number pad displayed on the right in this same page . On this number pad you can just punch in the number of any loco and it will be selected directly without having it in your library of locos. Cheers Paul
Broadway limited is producing AC6000CW units which I’m real excited about.
I just got my N Scale CSX AC4400CW from scale trains and it works fine. It has perfect lights. Wonky lights was a problem with both my BNSF ET44AC and NS standard cab D9. I also did noticed that the 2023 latest dash 9s are a bit odd and weird. When I got my CSX its trucks are perfect and runs fine. They also replaced the manual with a newer version. I’ll look into it more. Also the paint on my unit looks just as good as the paint on my BNSF ET44AC from the very beginning of 2023.
What switcher locomotives do you think will run smoothly and slow ? Great video
China. What seems to happen with manufacturers that outsource to China, they have quality issues. They start out fantastic/good, and then after a few years, they completely fall off a cliff quality-wise. Just found your channel today (May 2, 2024.)
I didn’t really understand what you were saying. In fact, I don’t understand virtually anything anybody says about setting up DCC. Is there anybody out there who realises there are dummies like me out here? People who need to understand the basics.
Totally agree. It’s clear as mud. He who can make a clear, concise vid that’s easy for anyone to understand will truly be the n-scale king.
I agree about the sound option. I guess with "work" you can install a sound DCC, Thats what i want, maybe more so of other features. At 56yrs i finally jumped in and bought my first, a older Kato starter set with the ES44AC "Gevo" CSX engine and mixed freight set. It was like new, in box, everything there, no issues at all...for $129 on ebay. Awesome deal, HAD to go with Kato
Which M-T trucks did you use? Looks like 1035 (003 02 041) should work but I don't have a spare to test. Having the same issue with Prairie Shadows Intermountain 5161 Agrium hoppers. 3 of 7 constantly derail. Look great, run bad :(
The MRL area you’re talking about is Mullan Pass (not Marias Pass).
I just found your channel. Love your reviews. Spot on.
Can I use Trix locomotives on this device? They have MFX decoders and both trains I own were made in 2023.
Does it do a good job pulling those kato passenger cars? No problems?
Do any Scale Trains locomotives come equipped with a file that plays the Air Compressor Whoop sound?
I found it worth the effort to replace the ESU speaker with a sugar cube 8 x 12 mm, for a better tonal balance. The stock speaker is crazy bright. It also helps if you have a Lok Programmer, to use the tone control function to turn down the highs and turn up the low frequencies. I usually turn the highs down about 9 db, with the bass up about 3 db.
For double board locomotives, I just put in either TCS CN or CN-GP boards. I've done 4 of Atlas' GP9/7 engines with them, and I had issues with the CN-GP boards, but not with the CN boards. They do require soldering, but come with very fine wires that can usually fit between the split in the body with no modification, and they're fairly cheap
I was disappointed with my BLI sd40-2 NS high hood locomotives no ditch light the front of locomotive which is the long hood, as NS ran them long hood forward also when running long hood forward the rear ditch lights are on. until BLI do better I can not buy another locomotive from them.
Broadway modeled them as pre ditch light era....
What did u need to get started with this system??? This system is kinda new to me. And how does it compare to nce???
Just found an Athearn SD70 Illinois Central (at a train show) and got the Digitrax DN163K1C decoder for it. Gonna install tomorrow I hope.
Well I installed it just now. Didn't have to solder anything. I trimmed the board's new motor tabs just like the stock on amd filed it smooth. Kapton taped and it runs smooth as silk!
