    There is another interesting thing, i think Unity could easily change to open source, if they realy struggle vs godot at some time. What i can see from godot so far is not even close to unity. Sorry, but thats my Opionion. Why they can easily change? - every real unity game dev knows very much about Unitys base - Asset Store Items are high similar to Open Source already - the easy possibilities to change the Editor and features around Unity //the most devs have already written their own Editor features they need And there are maybe much more pro's if they realy should go bankrupt in like 10 years, and till there some KI is developing our games... so its anyways obsolete. :D

    Darn programmers always starting at zero lol Without going into too much depth, yeah it pretty much stems from a binary logic using transistor states and memory, and having 0 low and 1 high, and also having values like -1 or +1, for adding, multiplying efficiently in the ALU for instructions in Assembly to binary. Arrays also start from 0, as it connects to that way of thinking. It's more of a hardware thing, that the software just happens to comply with. Some programming languages start with 1 in an array, but the hardware fundamental thinking are kind of lost that way, but it's easier for beginners to grasp rather than 0, but in my opinion isn't the right way. I'm sure if you read up more on computer architecture and it's links to the low level programming you will understand better why "most" programming languages start with zero. Thanks for the tutorial, I have some cutscenes and a YT game promo video to make next. Something that's new to me, usually it's just screenshots of my game, but YT promo is much better, especially for 3D games. ✌🏽

    With Godot 4? The answer is really just FUCK NO! I'm not calling Godot bad, it's definitely got good tools but rendering pipelines is still leagues behind (and unity is also behind unreal as well), godot doesn't have raytracing or rtx implementation yet and that's not even beginning until 4.1 (mid 2023) and it's just the beginnings, we won't see decent rtx until godot 5 (which is prob 3-5 years away). Let's also talk about the job market, it makes no sense outside of "learning it" to use godot right now especially when exporting to consoles isn't handled by you but a 3rd party. I can't just export to PS5 on my own even if I have a license and an sdk to do so! That's a huge issue!! Defold even has baked in switch exporting with playstation coming soon! If you wanna bet a career, godot won't be where you need it to be for 5 years + another 5 years for things to mature. I'm not trying to bash Godot as I do think it's pretty great, sure even for 2D Unity will look better especially with all the shaders, particles, and effects you can do (yes Unity still has a better renderer to the one coming to godot in 4.0). Also Unity aint going anywhere it'll just get bought out if it were to go bankrupt. Sorry for the doom and gloom post but no Godot 4.0 isn't going to crush Unity as Unity is still leagues further down the line than Godot is BUT Godot will catch up within this decade and likely surpass it. but that does remain to be seen.

    Localization - AI can produce convincing translations of not-too-complicated sentences. In certain tools you can even set the tone you want to use, such as informal or formal address. However, language is a very context-dependent thing, so unless we teach neural networks to somehow - differentiate whether the character addressed is singular or plural without excessive indicators ("y'all, guys") - tell whether their grammatical gender is feminine or masculine (let alone distinguish other possible options) - use an appropriate level of formality, as certain languages like Korean have seven or more of them depending on the status of the speaker and the person(s) addressed That's not even mentioning other intricacies. Sure, nowadays it is common for companies like Netflix to half-automate and use cheap labor in subtitle translations like in "Squid Game" - that's called "machine translation post editing". However, this won't help if you want to do something creative for your game on a language level, like word play, adapting humor for foreign audiences (humor is different across the globe), or being creative with character names (as in Pokemon, Plants vs. Zombies, etc.). There's almost no way to produce something novel and not create a bunch of weird gimmicks without human labor.

    The reasons I chose Godot were that Unity never really clicked with me. It often doesn't work like the tutorials show (in my experience), including when I'm using the same version, so it's just been confusing for me to learn. On top of that, the versioning, the rendering pipelines, the packages that are stuffed with a ton of junk aside from the one thing you need,... all of that and more has made it confusing to learn, and some of it, like the rendering pipelines, requires research even before I create my first project... Godot just insta-clicked. I learned GDScript in about half an hour, and then I just learned the API as I went onwards. It's been lacking in many respects, which is the only part that sucks. But then recently I tried to remake a project in Unity because I was having some issues with lightmapping in Godot, only to be even more disappointed at it. While in Godot my lightmaps actually looked decent out of the box, in Unity no matter what I did, they always looked like a blurry absolute crap. I dunno, it's probably partially down to my own ignorance, but my experience with Unity has always been pretty abysmal.

      @@cunningfox146 my experience has been that most often it doesn't work exactly as the tutorial shows. This isn't something I've experience with any other engine, mate. I remember one time back in 2017 or so that a tutorial required a unity-official asset for post processing effects, which turned out to not even exist anymore in the asset store because the newer versions of unity had a different post processing system. That's the kind of issues I've been having more often than not in Unity, but not nearly as often in other engines. Last year I did a fresh install of a 2019 version of unity to follow a tutorial that used the same version, and it was still different in some respects. Don't ask me why. If you've been using unity for a while then it shouldn't be anything new to you that the engine hasn't ever been stable in terms of backwards compatibility. Even the asset store has been changing drastically the last few years.

There are some ai assitance tools like ai 3d model generation etc. but they still need some human finetuning of the models, animations or audiotracks. For game dev, AI will start taking over the bulk workload and get more and more integrated in every process.. Most graphical designers who do a lot of bulk will be replaced by people who simply manage and polish the AIs work. We will have full on AI game engines very soon. None of this necessarily means we will have game developers lose their jobs, it probably just means games will get exponentially better. Because the existing resources are simply spent more efficiently.

    I heard godot has its own coding language, is it fully original or derived from another coding language, if it is derived please tell me from what because I know c# and a bit of java and wanna switch to godot

      Biggest thing is that you can use c# in Godot, only issue is the editors that currently support it are lack luster and can be bugger between updates.

    I doesn't help that many human tech communicators over simplify, aren't actually familiar with the topic, and jam in buzzwords. When you said that there is a tool that uses deep learning to find all bugs in a game I thought not that it could find all bugs but, yes, that is something a human would say or read off of someone else's bad writing. Because people are idiots.

    AI voices are really strong in my opinion. If you are AAA and can afford voice actors, they are still the better solution, but for us indies AI voices are a revolution. I used them in my game trailers and a lot of people asked me if thats my real voice.

    Character animators may not disappear, because complex animations made by a.i will need to be cleaned up.

    • @p1-om
      @p1-om Год назад

      Don't you think AI will figure out the clean up too?

    • @st0rmerc00l8
      @st0rmerc00l8 Год назад

      @@p1-om no because computing power commercially available to businesses has a limit. Also, more complex inputs require more processing power to generate clean animations. Finally, the ai will eventually make a mistake after 100 or 1000 animations, and it will have to be cleaned up by someone in a proper manner, and even if there will be an ai that automates that, eventually that ai will make an error and so will need to be corrected by a character animator.
