Beautiful video.. flew the Grindlewald area a few years ago. Brought back some great memories:-)
@@TheThermlav8or thank you. yeah it’s such a great place to fly.
Thanks for your video !! Watching yours I did my first petit tour de lac last year !!
Great..! It’s a nice flight isn’t it? Glad you could take something from the video
great video, well done. Love the color coordination 🤣🤩
Red = fast 😃😆
Nice quality vid Ollie, shame it was cut short, the nature of PG beast when your in the lap of the gods, good luck this year.
Yep.. still one of my favourite videos on YT
Thanks, yeah it’s still one of my most memorable flights. A great day with mates I dont get to see that much.
Great flight Ollie, and I wanted to be there but I was ill (story of my life ATM!!) but its a bit jerky TBH. I am not sure about the use of the Insta 360. I am doing some filming on a GoPro 10, which has fantastic stabilization. Good after flight commentary.
Thanks, yeah it was a really enjoyable flight. The ‘jerkiness’ is because I filmed it using interval mode which means it takes an image every .5 of a second and then makes the video from the images. Going forwards I’ll be using normal video only, but it’s a balance between data storage and video quality. Hopefully you’re back out flying soon too.
Very beepy
That’s the aim of the game…
Hi, Ollie. After one month using them, what is your verdict?
I really like it, I only have the Omni now. No complaints.
Could you please elaborate on why you chose Omni over the Oudie N?
Mainly the size and weight, the screen is a little harder (but hardly anything) to read in flight as it’s smaller and I kept the same number of instruments on the screen. I think if you’re doing lots of racing comps (not hike n fly), stay with the bigger version.
@@OllieEllis Cool! Thank you so much!
Awesome flight! Great to see the familiar mountains and parts of the routes I've flown along. Hey Sean!
Yeah I really like this route, super picturesque and good transport links at both sides.
Awesome video mate, on the bucket list to return home to the motherland and fly the UK one day
Thanks 🙏. Yeah you should try it at some point
How's the wing in weak and drifting thermals? Does it inform you about the air enough? And feedback from the glider is from risers or breaks? Thx
I need to put more time on the wing in varied conditions to really give you any very useful information. I’ve have under 10 hours on it so far in on only 2 XC flights. Both of the flights I have had to hang around in weak thermals and on this one drifting in near zero’s for over 30 minutes, id say it’s really good. Gives you really good info on the air but I guess a lot of this is subjective to what you like.
For those wondering, this is RAF Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire, UK Search this is google maps to find it: 51°56'11.8"N 1°15'10.6"W
How would you compare to xctracer max2 How responsive is the vario itself?
I don’t have a max2 but I think the Omni is a different device not exactly comparable it has much more features. For vario I use a Xct mini 2 flarm, I don’t have this connected to the Omni so that I get 2 independent IGC files at the end of the flight. I keep the vario volume of the Omni turned off and use Xct.
@@OllieEllis gotcha Thanks for the response. Id be curious on a side by side of the vario response between a tracer and an Omni. For H&F would just like to carry one instrument
Great angle shot from the camera Ollie what did you use ?
That was on an insta360 X2, mounted from my flight deck straight out to the left side.
@@OllieEllis nice one great view point cheers 👍🏼👍🏼
Very enjoyable to watch. Making me jealous 🎉
Glad you enjoyed it! Hoping for lots more this season in a similar style.
Looks like a really nice flight, mate. Great video 😎
Thanks 🙏, hopefully many more this year.
Nice flight
Thanks, hopefully you’re back on it soon
Very nice flight Ollie. Great to see you all back at Laragne. Lovely place to fly. Regards to John & Barry. Tony
Nice one ❤
Thanks 🔥
how do you find combo of strike 2 and volt ?
I enjoyed flying them, not real complaints about either, maybe wished the volt turned a little better. The Strike is unstable but I liked that, I think it’s exactly as Supair said on their site. In this video I was flying the Volt and the Delight 4 sport however. I’ve now sold that as pack voulue was too big for me but I liked that also.
Nice one .............Ollie!
Hoping for some good bevy trips this season.
Mega flight dude! Let's hope this summer brings some more epics
Yeah hopefully and not long now before the weather turns better
Awesome. Why it's called gumball?
It’s just a play on words from the guys that started it a few years ago, there is a car rally called the gumball.
Thanks for the explanation
Also my first euc. I love my Sherman Og. Only 2 rides in. Not as easy as I thought
Yeah it is hard to start, but it comes fast once you get the balance
Great flight. Awesome day. Wish I would have been w u guys. Tks for sharing the moments. Paragliding is the coolest sport. 🇨🇦
Yeah it was a really nice day and great flight. Thanks
How you finding the run & fly mate?
Really good, super please with the size too 16m, 14 would be too small for my use and 18 too big. Glide is similar (but worse) to a big pg on ears.
@@OllieEllis what’s the packing volume like?
@@DansEscapades super small, about 4 litres. Fits in a large jacket pocket.
@@OllieEllisthat’s Mega! Iv been eyeing these up for a while now. Dare I ask how much?
@@DansEscapades Yeah… Far more than you want to be paying haha
well done! Great video
Thanks, glad you liked it. Hopefully some more coming soon
Great flight and video! Can you say me what's the name of your jacket? looks super nice for flying
It’s from @tryfly_ it’s really nice to fly with and good quality. tryfly.eu
Thanks a lot! wish you a good year of flying ✌@@OllieEllis
28kg - wow how much of that is food / water?
3kg of water, Im not sure on the weight of the food but 4 days worth. Too much really :/
When, tnks
Maybe July
Cool! What gear do you use for your vario and headset?
I use XC Tracer and Oudie N, headset is a Shokz opencom
@@OllieEllis Thanks for the info ! 🙂Have you connected a vhf radio to your headset ? Or is it just for a smartphone ?
@@Xozbg_pz yes both, I have a Anytone 878 uv+ radio and phone. Works great
@@OllieEllis Oh perfect ! I've got to try this !
Awesome content!
Appreciate it!
Great vid! Can't wait for this year's shenanegans.
Yeah hopefully its a banger
Oh and thanks for keeping an eye on me down there. I was a bit uncomfortably low there for a while@@OllieEllis
😆😆
great to watch ! what are those earphones? they look great for crossing
They’re Shokz OpenCom, I connect them to my radio and phone. They work really well.
can I joing you in 2024?
For sure, it’s open to everyone. If you send me your number I’ll add you to the chat/planning group.
Well done looked a lot of fun and played it safe :-)
Thanks Chris
Nice vid. Never occurred to me to try get to Chamonix, but quite an inspirational video. I'll defo give it a go the next time i'm in Annecy!
Yeah It’s a great route, and easy to get back on the bus.
Brilliant flight 💪
Thanks man..!
The only thing missing for your outfit is scout zero. 😊👌
It would be a perfect match 😆
Hello Ollie. When was this? Can we get your somewhere?
It was this last summer, not sure of the exact date. Can you get what?
Sorry, I meant to ask for your track
Beautiful flight. Well done!
Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed it
Nice one dude!
What an awesome sky! And great choice of landing 👍🏻
Yeah, really enjoyed this one :)
🤟
Epic video ! Can’t wait to fly here next season !
Go get it… great place to fly
Best paragliding POV I have ever seen. Beautifull fligths. Cant wait to go base jumping and paragliding to the valley next month. Cheers! 😊
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, it will be good time out there in September
@@OllieEllis Also, may I ask about the time and conditions in this flight? Afternoon and low wind? Perhaps even zero wind?
@@VilleValpuri I can’t remember the exact conditions but it was very light winds, and it was September.
This sport is unreal
Yeah it give you real good freedom. Try a tandem 💪
Nice video, brings back good memories from flying in this magnificent place.
Glad you enjoyed it
Roger Holmes was the first to jump this site in the early 2000s. As a climber I helped in find several sites in the Lakes.
Good work..! It’s a great jump
@@OllieEllis I’ve not seen Roger for quite some time. I’m not even sure he jumps anymore. I filmed him jumping several sites in the north. Way before GoPro ‘s & camera phones. He picked my brains on locations as he was from the south. As far as I know he was the first to jump Malham Cove. He’s still on here biking of Beachy Head & jumping the Old Man of Hoy with Tim & Gus (RIP). It was the overhang on Raven Crag that gave me the idea it could be a possible location. I had no clue if he could clear the trees though. He stood on the edge a few evening but backed of due to the wind. Before he finally sent it. Still amazes me you guys clear those trees! 💪🏻👍🏻
