I freaking knew it, it's 2 guitars!! I was tripping for months because on psotify it says John also plays but he doesn't!

Paco? check. Al? check. John? John?? Oh, John, wherefore art thou? Must have been John McLaughlin's night off ... because I own the actual physical record of all three of them playing live in San Francisco. Mind-blowing album !!!

Why don’t I see John in this vid at all?

Us guitarists (and music lovers in general) have marveled at the mastery of these two musicians millions of times over the last 40-odd years. Yet they're just having fun. I would give an eye to have that level of fun playing guitar!

I saw these guys in Toronto ( 1980 I think ) Amazing !!!! If they were getting paid by numbers of notes then all 3 would’ve been billionaires

i see this for the first time, after basically hearing it all my life since i was born 40+ years ago.... i didn't know they were playing in such dim light ! And i always thought they were 3 playing on this piece ! Where's my Mc Laughlin at ? ^_^

So after listening to this album at least a hundred times over the last 40 years my best crack at is, in comparison to the released version, here are the edits/punched in sections: Al's ending solo 3:00 to 3:05 edited out as was much of Paco's from 5:10-5:50 and then Al edited out again at 6:00-6:30 and Paco from 6:35-6:50, duo section from 7:02-8:39 edited out and some small 2-3 second bits here there until 9:40. The final mixing obviously punched in some other performances to fill in these gaps. To me--and just me- the edited version sounded a lot better overall than this performance.

I can't understand why the record says Al di Meola is heard on the right channel and Paco de Lucia on the left chnnel.

Just have to say The people who film this Need a lesson on what to film and show Hardly any of Al’s solo part was show at all I would of preferred to see his playing than long shots of Al and Paco Also actually matching what was being played too So much of this, the fingering on the fretboard didn’t even match the sound of what was being played I always wanted to see this performance after I purchased the CD of the concert (many years ago) Finally I find the upload on RUclips and this shocking edition of bad editing, bad filming and frankly no idea on how to film a virtuoso’s on guitar, this is a massive disappointment I am glad I have this on my phone, may not get the visual I would like to see, just the audio and my imagination to make up for it. Thank you Al, John and Paco for the most amazing, wonderful, best acoustic guitar playing I will , ever hear until the end of time

This is my favorite album of my lifetime. I can’t believe I never bothered to look up a possible video of this until right damned now.

If aliens ever decide to destroy planet earth this album will save us. How human beings can create this gives us a reason worth saving. Some of the greatest artistry ever created

I just heard an interview with Al Di Meola. He said there is a Saturday Night in San Francisco coming out in June. All of the songs will be new ones, songs cut from the recording of the Friday Night Show. The interview was with Rick Beato and it is fun listening to him talk about being between John and Paco and their differing views, also Al being the kid of the bunch. It's a loooong interview but at least find the part about this time in his career.
