Hello all,
My name is Cameron Farnsworth and I am so glad you've visited my channel! This is where I upload videos of my recent performances. Over the last few years, I attended the Shenandoah Conservatory at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. I will be attending the University of Maryland as a Master's student in the fall, so hopefully, I will be able to start uploading some new videos in the future. In addition to video performances, I aim to start making some educational content to start broadening the horizons of this channel, and to help other low brass performers improve their musicality!
Feel free to take a look at my channel, and subscribe if you would like to have some great low brass content in your life!

Nocturno for Horn (or tuba!) and Piano
Просмотров 1523 года назад
Hello all! I have been playing sousaphone at Busch Gardens through this last week, and I've finally had some time to pick up a real tuba and play through some real music. This is Franz Strauss' Nocturno for Horn and Piano, played with a piano accompaniment track. I can't wait to start posting more throughout the summer, and later during the fall of the semester of grad school!
Liminal Tuba Performance

A little throwback today, this was from the last Shenandoah Conservatory Wind Ensemble concert from my sophomore year (2017). The piece is Liminal, by John Mackey. This was performed on the University's Miraphone 188CC, as my horn was in the shop at the time.

Nice!
I'm struggling to learn this on horn, and here you are... Someday!
May I ask you..? What a tuba is it? It has a bright, very pleasant sound..
Seems like piano is too loud
The trombone solo yikes
Is the solo triple or double tounged?
5:15
186 OR 188?
188 or 186?
Hi GLC, The brand of my horn is a JZ, it's a copy between a 184 or a 186. Definitely smaller than a 188!
@@csfarnsworth14 It sounds great. Looks most like the 186.
Clarinet 1 is so fun on this hehehe

Awesome job, Cam. Love your solo!
That solo was epic
which mouthpiece do you use?
Hi Antonio, the mouthpiece I used was a Peranticci PT-48.
Best of the solos!
Well, that was fun. Way to stick it, Cameron!
you have a really nice dinamic
Thank you Sergio!
Wow. This is absolutely incredible. Bravo, man!
It’s a horn concerto
Hi Marko, I am very sorry that this performance of Mozart's 3rd Horn Concerto wasn't played on a french horn. If it brings any comfort, I have 3 possible reasons as to why this performance was not made on a real horn: 1. I left my french horn in my other recital outfit, bringing only my back up tuba. 2. My french horn mutated into a horrible new instrument. 3. There are many great pieces of music for soloists, most of which can (and perhaps, should) be performed without a strict adhering to a specific instrument. I hope this helps you deal with my insolence for not performing this concerto without the intended instrument. I pray that you enjoyed my personal interpretation, despite the instrumentation. Thank you for watching, -Cameron

Great video! I'm rehearsing this now for an upcoming concert.
this is a dumb question but why do you keep moving ur tuning slide? (im a flautist sorry
charles it’s to tune the first valve note
How do you have such good tone? I’ve been told to drop my jaw but it isn’t working.
Hit em with a yuh
what kind of mouth piece is that?
Hi Luke, the mouthpiece was a Gidding's Nor'Easter! It served me well, but when I'm playing on a bass trombone I use a Greg Black 1 1/4g.
Wow, nice solo!
Great sound!
CHEESUS CRUST
Nice playing Cameron! What make is that horn? I am guessing a Miraphone 186 but it doesn't have the typical tone band of one.
VERY fine solo at 10:04, Cameron! Did you take the octave down at 3:34, 8:51, 11:01, 14:03, 15:41, and 16:13 (and other spots), or is the score written that way? :-)
Thanks for watching Steven! I'm taking a lot of the parts that you mentioned down the octave, doubling with our contrabassoon, and double bass. If a lot of tuba parts were written with how I played them, I'd be a happy tubist.
what kind of bass?
+keyblademastersora43 A Bach 10B I believe, it's the schools horn.
Oh, alright well you sound great!
Thank you! My main instrument is actually tuba.
Oh okay, well you play the instrument very well, especially for it being your secondary instrument!
