How many bells have they got?
@@chrislea8463 I've rung the banger. There is or was an ellecombe chime
@@chrislea8463 I love St Paul's for there iconic old bell style.. Whilst absolutely thing modern Taylor bells are unbeatable it would simply sound so wrong . They are the sound of London , of victory and celebration. Yes I got to see a lot with dad back in the 60s, even got to see Great Paul ring manually and it used to have a heart shaped clapper When up to Liverpool with dad to do work on Paddy's wigwam bells ie the Catholic cathedral and also the 12 in Liverpool cathedral I think the 12 are way to heavy but the really tragic think is the tower accoustic are terrible but nothing that money can't fix I would also Make the ringing room look less industrial.
@@chrislea8463 Pier are great bells Probably better for ringing, who in there right mind want to ring 82 Cwt to a peal they would be physically hard. Even 40cwt is a handful
@@chrislea8463 your correct about the radial frame plus HUGE amounts of concrete. Didn't know Prior head are on two levels and that is never good. In 2019 I rang on the magnificent Whitechapel 10 at Washington Cathedral, a radial frame and steel but they really do go well I do think thing there comes a point where you can have to much bell as we humans are limited in strength. The tower is an accoustic disaster, let's face it you have this massive belfry big enough to turn a London bus around the outside of the frame and it's some 90ft tall, the sound waves are bouncing all over the place. I actually think they need some form of ceiling over great George. I also think it's tragic that Great George is hung dead, it's a classic Taylors Bourdon at it very best. I would love to hear those bells properly, I have no doubt they sound brilliant. To do the accoustic work would cost ££££££££££
wow good show
