In this video, we are up north in a whole new environment and using a totally different technique than we are used to. Our good friend Scott invited us to participate in an awesome salmon fishery where you can either troll or jig as the fish get into big schools when it comes time to spawn. We had another good friend of Scotts was on our boat with a portable Garmin Livescope unit and this is ho...

Welcome back to the channel. I have not posted a video for a little while so I thought I would make something out of one of our last days at buoy 10 this year. In today’s video we are in Astoria Oregon on the Columbia River salmon fishing for chinook and coho salmon. This location is known for the best chances of catching salmon as hundreds of fish poor into the system everyday. Our day started...

Ocean Salmon Fishing ( Finally Found Some Hatcheries ) Episode 2 | Saw A Huge Fin Whale
What's the thought process on 60' behind the boat at 55' depth on first rod?
Just spaces the rods out. You want to have a longer setback on bottom rod so it does not come up and tangle with top rod. The depth just depends on where you are seeing fish.
You guys are having a blast!!!
Smashed 'em! Nicely done.
No, but I really want to someday.
😜👍🏻
Dude, I love your videos. You guys killed it. It's always awesome when you catch some blue ling dingers
@@HitchByHitch Thanks. Yeah it was a blast out there. Heard you guys did pretty good too!!
@@pnwchromecatchers yeah... Definitely Ling dinger season.😆
That was a fun day out there. You killed it per usual. Thanks for joining us.
Always a blast out there! Thanks for the invite!
6:02 Eric never catches little fish!
@@TheReefRobber no he does not always the big one lol!!
@ we were out the next day and limited by 9:30 after throwing 2 keepers back.
@ yeah good fishing! Now the ocean looks pretty crappy. I think I saw 13ft or something at like 12 secs
@ tomorrow should be good yet but I have to work. Saturday is supposed to be 20 or 30 mph winds so…
@ yeah I’ll probably try to get dad out there in our boat during Christmas break maybe if ocean allows
Thats all? 😮😂
😂
Wonderful show Halliburton fishing.
I was skeptical at 3:53 when you said the hook isn't coming off. But then it appeared you jiggled it very lightly and now I too know it's not coming off. You are very convincing.
I was just worried about the glasses. Nice save, great net job on that one
You and me both!
11:00 minutes
They are all dead
Great video, very concise. Thank you! Curious if you’ve noticed which hook, the 1st or the trailing hook, that gets the most sets? Wondering if a single treble hook would be effective. In the lower Niagara River we usually cut off the bottom hooks on Mag Lips or Kwikfish, keeping only the trailing treble hook. Seems to help with weeds and other snags. Larger bait with 3 treble hooks are a real nightmare here. Thank you again.
Glad this helped you! I’ve never really paid attention to which hooks do the best but I don’t lose a lot of fish on these setups. Thanks for watching!
That's basically my plan for next year, once I get Livescope installed. Not sure how well it'll work trying to mooch/jig them out of 100', but it'll definitely work great for shallower water and rivers.
Yeah it was very cool to see the fish like that dive bombing those jigs! It’s definitely an advantage if you get one. That was just a little portable one for ice fishing that we mounted off our swim deck for the weekend. That other guy on the boat works at garmin and brought it. I want to buy one now for trolling. Everyone is realizing the advantages that a livescope has for any type of fishing. Thanks for watching!!
What the crap!!! Iv never seen that before 😅😂....nice
Absolute blast! I want a livescope now!!
That looks like a blast!
The most fun salmon fishing I’ve ever had!
No way! That was close😂
@@sarahriese9524 had to post it every time I watch it I laugh! Dad though it was pretty funny in the moment 🤦🏻♂️🤣
@@pnwchromecatchersreally? I thought his comment at the end sounded concerned lol. I can’t wait to show Trevor this🤣
Cómo se llama la máquina y q precio tiene
It’s in the description of the video!
Was this in October 2024? We were over there mid-September and didn't get into them. Covered areas good but only one drive by and that was it for one day.
This was middle of August just putting out the video now! Thanks for watching
Good action. My wife hooked a big Chinook that was almost in and off it went. A Harbor Seal came up with it. Told my wife reel fast and backed up to it. Beat on transom with aluminum bat to smack fish and it let go. Harbor Seal took off. We got the Chinook. The Harbor Seal had bit it repeatedly under the gills and bleed it. Weighted 37 pounds.
Why do you never show fish?
@@Brianleblanc-mr4yw well on this occasion the sea lion made a meal of it 🤦🏻♂️😂
Thanks for the shoutout! That first one that broke acted massive!! Nice video Remington, some good takedowns.
@@mystylebaits I did not have much footage of catching this year because we lost so many fish. It was our first year only running 360’s and I don’t know if that was the reason or what but we lost a lot of fish. That first fish had a sea lion on it and it actually came up with my fish and ate it 50ft from our boat 😣 broke the line and everything. But yeah that sea lion was peeling line!
@@pnwchromecatchersthere is always next year. 😁 that makes more sense. The way that rod was acting, dumb sea lions.
Nice ❤ i miss fishing out of Ilwaco. They were big, back then. Good to see it coming back❤
fucking lost the glasses lmao 🤣 been there that sucks
I got the glasses back I netted them but it was a close one. Got the fish and glasses so overall it was a success lmao 😂
The best Oregon crabbing I ever was involved in was crabbing the ocean, just outside of an Oregon port. We would set eight pots as we went out to fish and pull them as we returned to port. Over a three day period, we went from 48 legal crabs on the first day to 96 legal crabs on the last day. That larger number is an average of a dozen legal crabs per pot. Each day we had to throw back half of our catch due to limiting. On the last day when we had 96 legals in our pots, we only kept the very biggest. As we pulled our boat out at the dock, State Police was checking boats. They opened an ice chest and started measuring crabs, after a few, they said, there was no reason to measure the rest of our crabs since they were way over legal sized. I then opened up the other ice chest and said "Those were the small ones". They were stunned and said that was the best catch they had seen.
Well done video…. I’ve got three of these, and I’m going to rig each just as you’ve done… thank you
@@kevinheide7300 Thanks for watching. Glad it helped!!
Love the nasty days less competition on the water especially for crabbing
I catch hundreds and hundreds of crab always check them males some will surprise you that they are 53/4 inch
3/4 of 5 gallon bucket
Great tutorial!

Nice fishing Where did you get your bait station/board?
@@johnvandervort-tj7ss My dad custom ordered that table when we got our tower from whodat towers.
epic video! someday I hope to get a boat and do some of that fishing myself.
You should! Thanks for tuning in!
love the video, brother...I'll always be happy with just one fish. I think I counted like 6 boats out there..
Yeah I think a little more than 6 😆! We grinded our butts off when we were up there fishing was ok but not great! We are usually up there rn but school started so we had to go earlier this year and last year. I’m hoping this next year I can make it down for a couple of the days at the end of August but we will see. Thanks for watching!
i have my for many years to now great buy
That showed only about 15% of the whole job. What’s the point of that?
Notice the video says part 1!! 😆
Nice video!
Thanks Sarah. It’s the best I can do with the fishing days we got! From what I’m hearing it sounds red hot down there rn
Good job on your video. You ever use those spin doctor flashers with the spin fish?
Thanks for watching! No I have not just the normal pro troll or 360 shortbus!
Buzz is a Legend!!
Tough fishing recently. How do you find these Tules cut?
Yeah tough to get keepers for sure. It got tough right as we left on the 17th I think it’s gonna pick up pretty soon! This fish was definitely a lower river fish but bright enough to keep. It cut lighter towards the tail but light orange on the rest! It definitely did not cut blood red that’s for sure but with hatchery only it’s tough to let the brighter tules go!
@@pnwchromecatchers I was going back through pictures on my camera roll, pining for all of the bright wild chinook we used to be able to keep.
Yeah same I’ve been going up there with my dad since I was little and I remember bonking those 20 pound beautiful URB’s. Still fun to catch em I guess but that fishery is just not the same now!
tasty fella
Very!
Hell yea!
Beautiful fish!
Enjoy and be safe.
As a trout fisherman I have no idea what is happening here🤣💀💀
