My first litter picking video for this channel.. sorry about the noise of M3! Please like and subscribe.. new videos coming soon…
What got you into litter picking?
Thank you!! When I see a big litter area like this and I don't have enough time or trash bags to clean it all, I prioritize the plastic as it's the worst for the environment.
@@luckylunaloops I agree the plastic is the most important as it’s the most damaging to the environment and won’t biodegrade unlike paper and cardboard which will rot down through rain etc.
Where are you helping the Land Trust?😊
National Trust
Well done for cleaning that area. You are a real community hero. No point suggesting Australia 🇦🇺 for your next pick 😂 Item for your next bingo; a hat 🧢 Keep up the great work. 👍
Thanks. A hat is a good one. I would love to visit Australia one day I especially would love to see the Great Barrier Reef
Good job 👏🏼
@@donnahilton8924 Thank you!
Thank you ❤
Lovely afternoon and an enjoyable episode. Thanks for your work.
No problem!
You set a wonderful example for others 🙂
Bingo was fun. Love your videos. Thank you for cleaning the environment.
Thanks. I’ll make my second bingo episode soon. The first bingo episode was episode 6
Good job!!!
Thanks!!
Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to help your community. 😊
Just doing my job!
Definitely buy a hoop to keep your trash bag open. Will make it so much easier to handle.
Sorry, I just saw you using your hoop.
Really like hearing you describe the area & issues with rubbish.
I love bird watching, hoping to become a member at some point. I sore a great white egret fly over where i live a few weeks back :)
Great White Egrets are beautiful and striking
I just found your channel, what is your concept? Trying to make it fun?
Basically it’s just me litter picking. But I like to add fun things to make it interesting and not be so boring as well as help out the environment and community.
@WalkLitterless thanks for the answer and I love your enthusiasm and accent! Thumbs up from New Castle Delaware USA! You're setting a great example for women around the world!
Great job, saw a wren on my litter pick the other day love them they are so cute.
Love a wren!
ill be flying over that in a few hours on the way to Usa. top job mate...
07763 Rest to come on next few videos
Thanks! Enjoy your flight and trip!
We have Brant and Canada geese. Did a great bird watch along a canal in Western FL. We have Trumpeter swans, my favorite. Do you use a spotting scope?😊
Brant is the same as the Brent goose that I mentioned in 20:19. I never knew Brants were in Florida, that’s very interesting. Trumpeter Swans look beautiful. The UK has the Mute Swan instead but the trumpeter looks quite striking with its black bill. I use to have a bird watching scope but recently sold it because it was heavy to carry around, and my binoculars were just as good.
Shame there was so much litter in that area. At least it wasn’t as bad as other areas. If my geography serves me right, that pick was only a few miles as the crow flies from “The Pit” that Gerard & Chilli attacked a couple of times. Keep up the fantastic work 👍
Thanks! The pit is not too far away from the reservoir, and I think the reservoir gets picked by either the council or Thames Water so it was quite a relaxing litter pick unlike my other 2 recent ones (Episodes 6 and 7) which you could tell they were obviously neglected.
Good work! The bird talk was interesting.
Thank you!
That would have been too cold for me! It was a struggle with all the bits frozen to the ground but you did well 😊
Thank you! 😊
Great work. You really could do with getting a triggered grabber rather than the tongue type grabbers, the trigger handled grabber would make it alot easier for you to pick litter :)
@@hobouk3871 Thanks but the triggered litter pickers easily break. About a year before I made my channel, I used them and they broke quite quickly
@WalkLitterless Most likely down to its quality, try looking for a high quality heavy duty pair of grabbers. It might cost a bit but think of it as an investment to help grow your channel. You could probably easily make the money back through monetizing your videos when you finally hit the magic 1000 Subs :)
@@hobouk3871 thanks I’ll take a look at the better quality ones. Thanks for the advice 😊
Brilliantly done, you´re a hero. If you had a ´buy me a coffee´ I´d buy you a few. I hope you´ll be able to do that.
@@philipyoud8343 Thanks so much, I don’t think I’ll get a buymeacoffee account for now but I probably will do in the future
There is a brook near me which i cleaned recently.. i had to whip out my big boy to do mine. great job mate.. very slow going but worthwhile.. great job ...
Much appreciated Gerard. My Lofty (your big boy equivalent) is well needed for ditches and brooks and streams.
you are like the litter picking Indiana Jones :P
Should have left your clipboard behind, awkward thing to carry
I did further in the video
@WalkLitterless I did a scheme job for over four years, for 19hours of a week, doing grass cutting, ditch strimming, footpath weeding and litter pickups in my local area.. and it's crazy what rubbish you would pick up in 2hours of a pick time, in 30-40 min normally casual walking area. Sickens the mind
@@adrianryan8586It is crazy what people litter, I didn’t expect some of the litter in this video
Wear eye protection in the brambles!😊
Watch Gerard, and Chilli, Filth, etc.😊
Those RUclipsrs were the reasons why I wanted to start my own channel
@WalkLitterless youre doing a fine job
@ Thanks Gerard
If you are going to do more ditches, using a potato fork with a regular long wood handle would be easier to use. Plus, wear boots!😊
I’ll have a look. Thanks for the suggestion
It might have not been the full bingo card but it certainly was a success. Fantastic clean up along a very muddy section. Keep up the amazing work 👍
Thank you!
Well done!
You’re not a weirdo that’s for sure it’s the people who chuck rubbish out that are the weirdos.
They are indeed the weirdos
I hope you are wearing a safety vest. Those passing cars are scary.
@@MichaelFergusonVideos I wasn’t but I really should wear one
Yes a high vis is essential in areas like this.
Well done that wasn’t easy !
Great job again! Instead of walking on the verge were you could slip you could've just walked on the road when there isn't any traffic coming!
Thanks! The roadside would have less trip hazards but it’s quite narrow. I’ll try it next time
@WalkLitterless always work towards the traffic if you can so you know what's coming ahead of you! Take care
I have a cold but 2025 is going well. Litter picking is put on hold until the weather is warmer for me . Please be safe and be careful. Your doing a good work !!!
Thanks!
Great work in cold conditions 👍
Good episode. Great work under adverse conditions.
Thanks!
Well done , I did a really dangerous road side today I’m never going to do again it was scary the speed of traffic, they don’t even slow down when they see what I’m doing.
Thank you. I advise wearing a hi-vis jacket or have someone with you when it’s near busy roads. If you have a car, I suggest parking it near you which would force drivers to slow down.
@ Yes I always wear high vis jacket I’ve also got a high vis back pack and cap ! Good idea to park the car as a bit of a block however on this particular road it is rural yet very busy and it’s 50 along there despite having blind bends etc . I’m not going back there again. Drivers don’t expect to see anyone on foot there.
@@astra-rb6szI understand, I would report it to your local council and see if the council can do it.
@WalkLitterless Yes will do thank you.
2025 is like any other year for me when you get to an age like myself, its a bit like rinse and repeat. Ive long given up on making plans and new years resolutions, they just never work. Best to just take every year as it comes and see what the year brings your way. Maybe best to talk to your local council when it comes to knives just explain to them you do volunteer litter picking and you have come across knives, then just ask what you should do with them? Your local council might even give you some free bin bags for litter picking. Winter time can be a difficult time for litter picking but it gets easier when spring and summer comes along. Great work :)
Thank you. I feel New Year’s resolutions are pointless as well, 90% of New Year’s resolutions are given up on in like 2 weeks. In the next episode, I will have council bags… so stay tuned! I will contact my local council about knives and see what is best. Thanks for the advice!
Well done! 🙂💚💚💚
@@luckylunaloops Thanks!
Well done mate, the ice will melt at some point & theres always another day!
Thank you! I’ll probably come back when it’s not icy.
you did a great job there mate.. those rural roads dont get much attention.. There are,a few in Ruislip and Harefield which are constantly abused... Andrew from HLP does them every weekend . Anyway good job mate, looked cold..
Thanks Gerard!
Thanks for what you do. This makes me want to join a group to tackle large jobs like this one. But I do have fun doing similar work alone for now.
@@MichaelFergusonVideos What ever you do will create a big difference… Trust me!
Fun to watch and hear what's on your mind!
Just a tip when it’s frosted over I put my boot underneath the litter usually works 🙂
@@astra-rb6sz Thanks. That’s what I usually do when litter is hard to pick up but it was just too icy.
@WalkLitterless oh ok sorry just thought I’d mention it . I guess it’s obvious!
Fantastic thank you ❤
Great job there :)
Thanks! 😊
Sounds like you need to put on an extra layer when you go out in the cold. Maybe a flask of tea or coffee in a backpack so you can have a break and a warm. If you are new to this just be aware of bags and bottles that can have human bodily solids and liquids in them aswell as needles. When you are litter picking you really need to be aware of what you are picking up and where you are putting your feet. Litter picking can be a risky job but satisfying at the same time. Your doing a great job by the way, just the little bit you have done here can really help. As Tesco would say "Every little helps" 😋 Stay safe 🙂
Thanks. I am super careful with gloves and I avoid needles (as I don’t have a sharps box)
great job fella...supermarkets are a nasty area.. its been freezing cold, so great job
Thank you!
People get sick sometimes why people r getting sick
Because it’s the winter and it’s cold
It is u again u again on Saturday
