Hi Yep noticed that, due partly to slipping belt now fixex & cylinder being slightly oval causing the flutter now plays well !🙂
Hi, I'm new to gramophones and already have a small record collection. Can you advise whether it is worth buying such a gramophone? looks interesting and has a reflector. It's hard to tell from the video if it sounds better, maybe it's clearer in person. Is it better to choose between victor, columbia, hmv models?
Hi , Yes the Decca 66 or 88 are good machines but , you can not beat the HMV 102 or 101 portables , the HMV 130 or 150 table grands give really good rendition of both electric & acoustic records
@@fitang1 Thank you! I will know) And what about victor vv50? There were thoughts of buying. It is beautiful and looks powerful. HMV is quite expensive for me. The cheap Soviet version of HMV sounds worse, or am I wrong?

Hi You can usually pick them up on E-Bay worth keeping an eye open The American E-Bay site E-Bay .com usually has a regular supply of these , however not so cheap now & posage has gone through the roof 🥶

The orchestra is great and so is the vocalist. The vocalist is a pleasant change from the average vocalist of the time.
Interesting pair of machines. Some features appear to be borrowed from the HMV 101, tho' the deck has a Collaro look.
the early one does have a collaro motor the early 30s machine fitted with garrard deck big differance in price between these & HMV 101 were £8.10 s for coloured portables & £11 for the leather covered one , the nat bands were £3.10S for single spring motor & £4 for 2 spring 😁

Good performance from a cheap machine, getting 65% performance, at less than 30% of price.
@@AlbertBenajam-ww1db Yep was quite surprised at the sound quality from these ,price of these new was around £4 whereas a HMV 101 would have set you back £8 for coloured rexine covered case
is that crank like a crank that is used to like these clocks that wake you up?
Yep most of the very early phonographs had this type of key wind system Edison favoured the crank style handle but used the key type on his early Gem Phonographs

yo that gramophone horn almost has the same horn as mine gramophone and nice work on it 👍 or you just bought it from amazon whatever you got it from but it looks good 😄
Hi The horn came with the machine but was very oxidised required a lot of elbow grease to get the thing shiny again 😬

By sorting through the spare parts draw & some effort , you can correct all the poor workmanship & come up with a half decent machine which will play well

Interested to see how you use the autobrake on this. I have a Celebro portable with what looks to be a very similar configuration. I never have been able to get the brake to work properly, but I will try your technique as at least that would work as a manual brake. Thanks 😀👍

Yes you can play lP records on it but requires a lot of handle turning ,there is a electric motor attarchment avalable to circumnavigate this problem
well yes you can but requires a lot of cranking of the handle ok for 45 RPM single records
