I could never get the FloorBoard app to work consistently on my M1 MacBook Air. Other users reported success on various platforms and devices though. Worth a try.

just the whole fk sy-1000 is total balls the examples are utter utter crap and I haven't been able to use the editor it doesn't function or never connects to the hardware though the sy-1000 it'll control other midi instruments just can't get the editor to change the sound dynamics or save as it doesn't seem to be interfacing and the owners manual is total bollox no quick start or fault fixes thinking maybe a factory reset is maybe needed as it was first initiated on my old computer now sadly gone to computer heaven/hell. that tick box just keeps tying to connect the device to the editing software or whatever I'm fk'd if I know like for 5 minutes I've ticked all the boxes one after another but it doesn't load or give any indication what may be the error it or I may have done wrong. nothing in the manual and nothing here on the tube. but when I cancel that task, the editor opens but there is a message box saying I can't change programs settings or save patches. and I'll be fk if i'm going to bend down and twiddle dials fk that for a kettle of fish ... if the sy-1000 had been a cheap buy it would be fk scrap metal and in the trash .. its just to potchy not like my helix Line 6 their editor worked from the moment it was loaded and I've had no end of free up grades .. touch the thumbnail and the edited opens straightaway. nothing like the sy editor where you wait for five fkin minutes then the tick box for another 10 only to be told its not connected can't find hardware not detected I'm beyond 😡 truth be told this is the last Boss/Roland guitar synth I'll ever buy never again I had shit with the gr-55 even that third party floorcontroller thingy didn't help much and the noisy 13 pin cable just had a tit full of boss full fk in stop. there hasn't been an upgrading because there's nothing to up grade the so called up grades they've given are only partition keys allowing access to hidden partitions. time to stop.........👿

that tone station thingy that comes with the sy1000 does nothing, can't understand the references used by boss that pre load tick box ????? whats that all about...? to try get it to communicate to the hardware impossible to use that daft interface . it's on screen but doesn't do diddly squat, just a total waste of my time and before it loads(go make a some tea) while and I've gone through ticking the variants but none seem to work. you have to cancel the load operation there's a disclaimer then saying no programme changes??? are avaliable and it's un user friendly, perfect for a nerdy computer programmer type and not a bit musical as most near all of the examples are Naff. so been trying to get any sense out of any of these many videos is a time waste and the owners manual is just the same useless if the effin thing weren't so damn expensive I'd have taken a hammer to the fkin thing feel like just swapping it out and have the old gr 55 back and its somewhat nearly functional floorboard controller that actually does control the gr-55 sometimes near £1000 wasted and there are better midi virtual instruments and controllers it's got so I don't use it any more as I ain't going to squat over it and dial through the machine so it's back to the old keyboard/controller and fk the guitar synth bullshit and just use a regular guitar tone from out the helix. yes it's controlled via the computer for tweeking and I didn't have to do anything it did the installing but that's line 6. they actually care about their customer needs. and know we guitarists can be nerds but would rather not bother with that part of technology and my computer interfaces with helix perfectly fine no problem but not the sy-1000? so why is that...because it's boss/roland thats why. I wouldn't be surprised if its got pre 90's components and stone age algorithms' and fk Japanese I am not.. so here I'm offloading as I can't figure the how too

Nice. After about 15 years, just dusted off my VG-8EX and VG-99. Might give this a go, once I get my callouses back and can play for more than 5 minutes :)

Just an update for anybody following this. Version CrossOver 22.0.1 broke the ability to use the VG-99 editor/librarian in macOS Ventura. Also the most recent Ventura security update (early May) seemed to break CrossOver altogether on my Intel MacBook, but not the M1. I updated to version 22.1 (paid version) and now both machines are working seamlessly. That said, I'm not impressed with CodeWeavers' update policy. I didn't take the 50% support renewal offer when my subscription was ending because the software was BROKEN! Why pay for broken software? Anyway, because that lapsed I had to pay the full fee to access the latest version. And CodeWeavers don't make it easy for you to check if a new version will work...you have to sign out and start a new 14-day trial to test the latest version.

Looking to use midi data to adjust tone via ipad or Android on the pre amp or in the signal chain, can this be accomplished via midi. Curre the roland editor is slow and playing live I do not use a laptop

Can you program changes via midi , similar to using a USB. Or is it changing the patch only .via ios or android.

Hi from 1 year in the future, this software is still nearly unusable. We're still on 1.0.2 at least on windows. Which is awful, because I think the product itself is good and editing on the actual hardware seems to be instantly responsive. I don't know why it is so awful using the BTS software. I primarily do not want to have to touch the pedal board because it is awkward and difficult to reach the floor while sitting and holding a guitar. As a result, this great product is almost unusable as a whole. Unless I want to stay on one patch and make no edits. I wish boss would actually show some love to this product, they put a lot of marketing behind this and their sy series.

have you found any solutions to this extremely annoying problem?? boss support is of little to no help, I've used firmware 1.06 and 1.07 but its extremely volatile and annoying. I'm using a 4 string jazz bass with flats and the gk3b 13 pin and only get this octave jump on Bb B C and C# on the G string. 1.06 has better tracking with the OSC Synth but still does the octave jump, 1.07 fixes two of the octave jumps (still on B and sometimes C) but then the OSC tracking is simply HORRENDOUS. I know its a software problem because it can be recreated on different instruments with different 13 pins installed. I want to love this machine but I've spent the last year finding too many software problems to even be able to use it properly and consistent.

Oh! M1 chip problems. I wonder how it responds, if at all, hah hah, to the Mac Studio. I have a VGA-7 It's been my work horse. ...works with the FC-300 (mostly) and has always been reliable. Sure would be great if it had a USB port. Thus my interest in the VG-99. Since the early 2000s ...

Is there a way to send midi notes out through the USB port?

I currently connect my VG99 - simultaneously audio and MIDI - to 10.13 on a Mac Pro via a single USB connection. This is then used by Logic or VCV Rack.`Is it possible to get this into Big Sur/M1 with the method you describe? Or might I be better running these apps on a 10.13 VM?

before I had FC300 by midi -> USB keyboard -> Mac. Now (after found this USB driver problem in Catalina) changed FC300 by RRC2 -> VG-99 by midi -> USB keyboard -> Mac. Midi works fine. Thanks!

Hello, have you tried the SY-1000 FloorBoard software created by Mr. Colin Willcocks, one ov the most renowned contributor to the V-guitarforum.com site? It should be easier to use and without these bugs.

Maybe you can try with another guitar, I hear a lot of noise in the background. Maybe your pickups are creating bugs

The only reason I want buy sy1000 over sy1 is for sitar guitar effect and stereo of sy1000 versus mono of sy1

Sy1000 too much controls... sell it and simply buy sy1 pedal

Dear Good demo. Indeed th VG99 is still a topper. I use in addition the ROLAND Cell Sonic midi connected with th VG99. This extention works really well and controlled over the RC VG99 pedal bord. Super configuration. For its 13 years old gear it is still the top of BOSS ROLAND products. Greets from Belgium Steve Verstichelen

I agree. I'm not much of a editor person as I like to learn the product from the device itself but when I wanna go load it up and save what I did it's a pain in the ass and shouldn't be in 2021.

I ended up using parallels to get the VG99 editor working in Catalina... is there a less complicated method?

Great alternative methods for connecting the VG-99 to modern Macs. In my own case I've got Catalina running so I can use my SY-1000 on the Mac side (as well as my Boss GP-10) but to get the VG-99 fully running I ended up setting up a drive with a Mojave partition on it so it would work with the full advanced driver. Or, for those who might want to boot camp their machines I found that I could run Windows 10 with the VG-99 with editor/librarian, Boss GP-10 with its Tone Studio app as well as the SY-1000 with its Tone Studio application as well all on Windows 10. Other food for thought. I've got years of VG-99 custom programs in storage and I'll be using it until it won't turn on anymore as a result so any tips like this are most helpful.
