They do this every few years. It does help mitigate flooding and damage from stones. The sea used to wash shingle over the road and into buildings. In fact, I remember as a child, the beach was a decent drop below the promenade. Now, the beach is level with the promenade at places where it's needed. Mostly. I just wish they would do it before storms come instead of waiting until they are actually here.

My Dad used to take me to the K.E.S.R. when I was around 7 or 8 or so (early 90's roughly), I remember asking him why there was no tender engines there, like they have at the Bluebell, and one of the volunteers said it was a light railway, and the track bed isn't sufficient enough to support such heavy engines. It was odd to see such a big engine on the railway last year, for the first time (for me)

@NixiStuff I guess they did have that European 2-6-0 going for a while? I forget the details but it is an odd one, kinda like the Isle of Wight running anything tender but I guess maybe it's a positive sign of need for more power due to more heavy trains or something which is only good. Going to get even more out of place feeling stuff if/when they get the rother valley project linked in and mainline connected.

I vaguely remember only seeing 0-6-0 from the Kent and East Sussex when I was a kid, although we are talking a while ago so I could be wrong. The Rother Valley project is an interesting one. The last I heard, they were given permission from the local authority, and apparently they offered to fund the crossing over the main road. I think there were some issues with people moaning about hearing trains or something, but other than that I think they are making good progress from what I've heard. It will be an iconic moment when they connect for the first time since its closure for sure.

Hopefully, it will be restored and not scrapped.

I managed to catch this beauty at Selling station and Headcorn station on the same day, and not once was it diesel first. Fantastic 👍

I went here some years ago to take photos, they have moved the stock around since then though, as there was, what I assumed to be, a Class 48, along with some coaches.

To be honest I didn't have much love for the 170's when they were introduced. I remember hearing the class 207 thumping through the night when I was a kid, and at the time I lived about 3 miles away. The sound of that always excited me, then at the station watching it thunder past was scary but also exciting. So when these were brought in, the sounds reminded me of a cheap and nasty van. Quite pathetic to what I was used to hearing. That said, where I live only has 2 or 3 carriage sets, but when covid hit, I remember they linked up I think it was a 3 and and 4 set, to make a 7, and because I have never seen that configuration, I was oddly captivated by it. Kind of like when I first see a tender engine without its tender. Weird but curious. Little things I suppose lol Anyway, thank you for watching.
