I agree Mattel does not make enough Ken dolls in diverse ethnicities in MTM body diversity either. I as a female doll collector always buy multiple of the Signature looks male dolls, I buy male Fresh Squad dolls & also buy Integrity male Fashion dolls when I can afford them to increase my male doll collection.

i just wish they would be actually available in stores than just online. its a nice feeling to actually see the doll before purchasing and i hope that collectors can have both, basics AND looks. but knowing mattel...probably not. basics would probably be preffered as their bodies would be cheaper to make :( i like the mtm body tho model muse versions of the other body types would be interesting to see. hopefully there is petite, tall, curvy and athletic

Barbie designs have been terrible for a good while. They should do a glamorous line that picks up where the 80s/90s styles left off. The quality is so low now. The hair isn’t pretty the faces are generic the clothes and accessories are all cheap and homely. I blame Monster High for this over articulation and hollow limbs.

Great! I never had any of the Barbie Basics but I'd love to see a comeback nonetheless. I hope they won't replace Barbie Looks, though and it would be great if they'd be articulated, made to move or not.

I still remember seeing the Basics when my kid was little but he called me back to Transformers and I never had a chance to look at them again. Hope they will be reasonably priced if not made to move! Such fabulous dolls 🖤

Yeah…… I am the farthest thing of a prude…. And these dolls were in the kid section in every target/walmart/k-mart…… cause like it or not….. a ton of money is made via “casual browsing purchase”…..

This is good news. I really liked the Basics. I have 2 of the Target ones, 2 of the denim ones, and that Mbili in the yellow swimsuit has been on display since I bought her way back then. I also have the Target accessories set, so I hope we get more accessories too. I prefer Bill Greening's style, his dolls look a little more classy than Carlyle's. I expect a lot of collectors to complain about the model muse bodies because so many people nowadays think everything has to be made-to-move or bust.

I am sorry losing mtm articulation just for fashions and face sculpts at the same price point is not it for me. Now, if they brought back the Basics fashion packs to fit the Looks bodies, I would definitely be onboard for that.

I hope they keep Barbie Looks and have Barbie Basics. Adult doll collectors deserve to have multiple options.

So excited at this news! Barbie Basics was an incredible line in both fashions and quality and I’m so happy it’s returning. Ideally I’d like the same articulation and diversity as the BMR1959 line. However, Carlyle is the wrong choice as designer IMO and I’m afraid he’ll take it WAY too over the top for a “basics” collection. 😟

Keep Carlyle away. He just ruin everything

Hopefully, they will have Model Muse bodies and I would be happy to see Nichelle 1990 sculpt in line.

I feel like if barbie basics is coming back they most definitely will have the basic mold bodys because they are called barbie basics for that reason and because of their simple cute fashions! Loved the video and hope this is trueee❤❤❤

I have the Desiree and I love her. I also really love all the dolls this year except MIllie...bit Desiree is my only must have. I'm also a fan of the dress design, it's so beautiful.

Idk...I feel like this coming back will take the place of the Barbie Looks line and that bothers me because I feel like they'll use the model muse body to save money and I prefer the made to move bodies.

I’m looking forward to classic design like the original basics. I hope that Carlyle doesn’t take it too far.
