I watched through the anime strictly until around Thriller Bark when I started reading through the manga from time to time to hurry up some scenes and moments lol Now I'm pretty much just manga until the anime gets to adapting a favored chapter of mine. To me this is the best way to experience the series. Read the manga, watch when a hype episode drops.

Considering that Demon King Piccolo was essentially a being born out of emotional essence, I like to think a bit of magic was involved as well. Perhaps the other demons that were born had a different style of birth, and him giving birth to Piccolo Jr. was more survival instinct kicking at the last minute.

Piccolo considered himself a demon, so his offspring would be more demonic looking then himself. Piccolo jr was meant to be his alter-ego, so him looking exactly like him was intentional.

It wasn't a mistake to me, the flashbacks and all that showed of him was enough to create a connection with the viewers and especially for the impact it had on luffy, but it creates a discrepancy when other characters die without even being developed or given importance just to have casualities here and there and then other characters just are imortal and never die (or are brought back from death after many episodes), even if their deaths would deepen the story

Ace contributed way more to the story with his death than he did as an actual character. He was too similar to Luffy.

Everything you talk about in this video is exactly why it wasn’t a mistake. Ace wasn’t a super relevant character, but the impact his death had on the story was massive. Plus you say how you felt that his character could have been explored much more, but thats the point. His death is tragic BECAUSE he had so much potential.

Agreed, kinda like how in demon slayer everyone was so sad over Rengoku's death which i never understood. Yeah he was a lovable character but his appearances in the series is in a single movie with a few cameos here and there. His death was too sudden too soon just like Ace. No time to build up his arc or history, just straight up dies to an asspull villain at the end of the film. Both characters could have been done better.
