I have a hard time believing some of this some of these places I have been going to since the 90's and I would say are friendly like the places in The Fillmore and The Mission. I was shocked by the 15th and Valencia the people there were always so nice I never had a problem there. Geneva Towers I saw it never walked their people always said stay away I did go to school with a kid from there so violent the teachers were scared, and it was elementary school I would see him and run. Hunters Point I think is the worse the kids are even scary. I worked there in my suburban mind not understanding the situation. I would take the bus over to the main street wanting to explore and the bus drivers would tell me no I might not make it out alive. I listened not understanding the situation. A few years later I get a job down the street next to the park planning to walk the place told me to take the bus I didn't understand at first. People told me not to walk down the street they seemed controlling, but I listened. There was a memorial on the main street of all the people that died. I was young I didn't understand how. A 3- or 4-year-old explained to me, and I asked about it I started to understand. I took the bus one night my ass was grabbed when getting on the train I quit. Everyone warned me but it took the kid to help me to realize to never go back. Sunnydale I was just there not too long ago. I knew not to sit in the back of the bus. I still go there its generally a nice area. Hunters Point is the worse to me. I went to The Fillmore as a kid, and I still go there but maybe I see things in a different way because I meet people in a more professional way people just know me as the nice lady. The people I know in all the areas are nice. Surprisingly Hunters Point might be bad, but I met very nice people there. The weird part is I worked right next to the projects like so close shared a fence and I could look in. The people I knew were very nice, but I only knew women. Great women are in Hunters Point trying to help the next generations. I would still be there if people didn't scare me away, I still get asked to come back but too scared.

As a native, YOU NEVER refer to San Francisco as Frisco. You’re telling on yourself and saying you’re an outsider. If you’re call San Francisco Frisco. Just some knowledge, and yes I grew up in the projects in the western edition, formally Fillmore. But I must say it was NEVER like what I am seeing now.

Sunnydale is still there as of 2024..i drove through at 10am when it was quiet...its the very last hood they plan on rebuilding..

I just slid through sunny dale with my kids for memories last month. Never lived there Im from the old Double Rock before they put up that gate but I spent a lot of time there at the Swamp with famz.

Don't get caught coming past B&J hamburgers double Rock guys will get you first!!! 3rd Street was the main Meetup especially by the Opera House anybody from hunters point really know these spots I stayed 30 Osceola can't say the apartment number we have the best view up on hunters point Hill but now ITS TERRIBLE UP THERE!!! it's sad A LOT GONE ! I went to George Washington Carver elementary School in the early 80ds now they changed it to something else saying the first name was racist. Smdh

Born and raised in The City. For one reason or another I’ve been from turf to turf. What’s always tripped me out is a lot of these places are gated communities, have great locations in the city, tree lined streets, amazing views, dope layouts and architecture, good water pressure. It’s always saddened me to see the missed opportunity we’ve had for something greater as a community. I understand the reasons, but it’s still been hard to watch.

All these spots were hot back in the day. They were all pissy grimy, and you didn't want to be there. They just looked good today because they rebuilt sort of speak.

Nicest projects in the city. These jets are 3-4 blocks from Washington Square Park, right off Columbus fr. Ya'll lucky to live over there, regular apartments go for like $3K - $6K, some of the most expensive in the city besides Pac Heights

Hey man, I'm an old dude or as young folks today call me 'OG'. Grew up in San Francisco in 60's/70's and left in 80s. Lived in the pink palace saw all kind of wild stuff when before I was 8. Had friends in double rock, alemany projects so went there often until I 'grew apart' from the people I knew. Those of us who wanted to do something with our lives grew up and got out. Many stayed, lived and died there. Back in those days it was seriously rough because Cops killed black boys without a blink; the media didn't care and the city didn't care. If you didn't get out of there you would end up either in prison or killed on the streets. Thank God for a strong mother who wouldn't play and everyone knew it. I haven't been back since I left in the early 80s but I know it's changed.

I’m here since the 80s. A lot of the project people have segregated mentalities and are very racist. They hate Asians. Some even told me I wasn’t a real black woman because I like to take the cable cars at Powell and market. They can be really corny. I said what I said.
