My left ear loved this video
What video is he reacting to
Good discussions and debates. Udemy is much better than traditional schooling: college, university, cal states, etc. Here is why: Udemy: Much more affordable, you could go at your own schedule/pace, shorter time duration than traditional school, unlimited boundaries (you could be anywhere), you know what quality you will receive (based on reviews, comments, etc.), you know about the educator/instructor (education background, work background, etc.), you have 30 day money back guarantee, lifetime access to content, you could contact educator/instructor via Q&A, and you could get the same quality of knowledge at a traditional school, if not better. Traditional school (college, university, cal state, etc.): much more expensive, you have to be present at a fixed time schedule (can’t go at your own schedule/pace), longer time duration, you have to be present at a location or online, you don’t know the quality that you will receive by the educator/professor/teacher, limited time (weeks, half the year, year, etc.). I feel that sooner or later, traditional schools will becoming obsolete and places of co-learning. College nowadays are playgrounds for fun, partying, socializing, and connecting with people.

My left ear thoroughly enjoyed this.
So my question is, when does Maryville Partner with Alumni Relations and our Online School and offer a discounted subscription option to graduates to be life long learners. Take classes when they want at a discounted rate when you have a job, boost alumni donations, boost traditional recruitment, and a great subscription option! I can’t think of a down side!
One take away that I got from this video was a better understanding of how to succeed. In order for success to occur, you have to just do it. Dreaming big was something that was mentioned in the video multiple times and I completely agree that it's the start for success. Whether it's applying for the internship or getting in a good grade in the class you have to set yourself up achievement. I valued Andrea's stance on how she measured success and I was able to feel inspired and motivated.
I like how Andrea brings up how easy it is to doubt yourself but to work past that and listen to the feedback/constructive criticism you may receive and take it seriously. I like to think that I'm good at that, but I know deep down I can be very stubborn and don't always want to apply it!
I had so many takeaways, that I want to say two. The first one being goal setting. I feel like I worry about what if I don't reach the goal that I set. I don't dream big so to say. I limit myself in so many ways by doing that. The second takeaway is time, not necessarily time management, but time. Life changes, constantly, and take advantage of each stage of life because at some point it will not be there. Andrea said she misses the time in-between classes where she was able to sit with friends and chat. I know I will when I graduate because in the midst of "doing" homework with friends, you are connecting to people and able to all come together. People lose that ability as time moves forward, as life pushes to be go-go. It is important to work hard, but using time in ways that will enrich life will be what causes growth.
I really liked Andrea's bit on dreaming big. That's the part I gravitated to the most i think because it's become pretty relevant with my own search for an internship. Since talk of looking for one started last year It was stressing me out so much because i didn't think I was good enough to be hired by any actual design firms. I had been looking at all these smaller jobs where I'd just be designing for companies that didn't require any creative thinking. Recently there was a speaker in one of my design classes and my teacher singled me out as a good fit for his design firm and I was totally shocked. I should've been dreaming bigger this whole time!
A big takeaway I had while watching this was the importance of time management. Learning the cruciality of time management and completing deadlines begin in high school, but it becomes apparent in college in real life. Andrea's perspective on this from being an influencer is very insightful and shows how time becomes more and more of a scarce resource as we get older.
This was such a great video! One of my big takeaways was her talking about free time! I feel like personally, I take it for granted when I know I shouldn't just because as we all grow up and get on with our lives, we won't have that much time!
My biggest takeaway from this interview was actually at the very beginning when she talks about goals and how they can be scary. I find that really relatable because she is right when she says that it's measurable so it is easy to feel like you failed. I think I stop myself from setting goals sometimes because I'm scared that I won't meet them and will feel like I failed. However, I'm going to follow her advice and set them anyways because it is the only way to grow.
One big takeaway I had from this interview is when Andrea mentions "dreaming big." I often think in our undergraduate years, we get lost in homework, jobs, and activities. Taking time to think about the future and the possibilities allows us to realize how much opportunity there is out there. Dream big, and your dreams could become a reality! Great interview!
This was a great interview that I learned lots while watching. Some of the key takeaways were to take advantage of feedback other give you even if its not what you want to hear. Most of the time critics/mentors are not out to hurt you, they want to help you get to that next level and by hearing constructive criticism you will grow as a person and a professional. Another point is utilizing your time in college because after that life hits and things get even more busy, take time to work on yourself and in finding a proper balance.
I know for a fact i already nod along and smile when people are talking. It's the easiest way to let people know you're interested. That combined with eye contact and adding the mirroring/jokes helps me make better impressions on people
The easiest for me is bringing the energy. I am a pretty enthusiastic person to begin with, so when I am having a conversation with someone I naturally try to a fun interaction. One thing I would like to practice more is mirroring, I am usually so enveloped in the conversation that I forget to try and mirror the other individual.
I think that mirroring would be the most valuable tip for me to try. Whenever I’m with friends I like saying over exaggerated goodbyes like “have an absolutely amazing time in class” because I think it’s fun and makes you both leave laughing. And I also try to nod and smile along so people know I’m listening but I’m not sure I ever really mirror what people say. I think that mirroring will truly show I’m engaged and listening which is super important so I want to give it a shot.
The one tip I would take from this video is leave a memorable last impression. Many people believe first impressions are the impressions that are remembered. But when you talk to someone you remember the last thing they said if it is memorable or funny.
The easiest for me is to bring the energy to the conversation, it is easy for me to bring energy to conversations and also almost match the same energy I am receiving, If something is funny, you bet im laughing at it and bringing the good vibes!
I think that tactic I want to use is finding something memorable to end the conversation with and make it unique to each person. I also think with friends and stuff starting to say Love you as we part conversations are becoming more important and memorable because everyone is going through something. I also think for me when I don't end with saying love you to a friend, that is where I will try to find something else. I just want to end the conversation with the other person knowing they are loved and values, and that may not be saying love you, but there are plenty of other ways. However, all three of these are great ideas that I may try sometime.
As a retail manager, I have learned that nodding and smiling is a great way to get someone to open up, but I think I would like to try mirroring. That's not something I've really done before and I think not only does it make them feel like you can relate to them but also that you're actually listening to what they're saying!
The easiest for me is definitely nodding along! Watching this video I was starting to realize I actually do this all the time while having a conversation or listening to someone else talk.
I used to conduct interviews with purpose regularly. The best one I found was nodding and smiling. It made them feel more confident in their story and like I was genuinely interested in the conversation. That goes a long way when we're in an age with so many distractions. People crave the feeling of being listened to. I need to try out the catch phrase when I'm leaving a conversation.
