MB Myth #6: "It's possible for an artery with an intramyocardial course to 'not be bridging'"
Explains a myth that an artery can be tunneling through the heart and not bridging. In fact, bridging and tunneling through the heart are two ways of describing the same thing, a band of muscle going over an artery, regardless of the size of the band of muscle. It also dispels the myth that a doc can know whether a bridged artery is symptomatic just by looking at it during surgery.

MB Myth #5: "Stents and Bypasses Are Good Solutions"
Просмотров 327Год назад
*Never* put a stent in myocardial bridge, you could die as a result. 1) The stent could break under compression, 2) it makes the artery impossible to unroof later, and 3) it sandwiches the artery wall between the bridge muscle band and the stent, increasing pressure on the artery will which can wear it away. Bypasses for myocardial bridges often fail due to competitive flow from the original br...

How to Identify a Myocardial Bridge on a CT Scan Goes through the three major identifiers of a myocardial bridge on a CT scan: -Abnormally narrowed artery (especially when it widens again later) -Black area disappears between the artery and heart, artery touches gray (heart) -Artery appears smudged/blurry/choppy or even disappears
MB Myth #4: "Myocardial bridge symptoms a) only occur on exertion or b) make sports impossible"

MB Myth #4: "Myocardial bridge symptoms a) only occur on exertion or b) make sports impossible" Truth: a) Many people with MBs feel better when working out / doing sports and worse when sitting doing nothing b) Many pro athletes have had myocardial bridges It depends on the person. Many people report that their MB symptoms are worst when they are just sitting, not moving at all, and actually im...
MB Myth #3: "Your myocardial bridge is too short and/or too shallow to cause symptoms"

MB Myth #3: "Your myocardial bridge is too short and/or too shallow to cause symptoms" Truth: short and/or shallow MBs can cause debilitating symptoms The truth is that what matters is how much blood is getting through the artery. There have been short and shallow myocardial bridges that have caused major symptoms. There have been myocardial bridges of 5 or 6 cm where the patient did not notice...
MB Myth #2: "Unroofing surgery doesn't work because some people still have symptoms afterward"

MB Myth #2: "Unroofing surgery doesn't work because some people still have symptoms afterward" This myth is based on a misunderstanding of what unroofing surgery is supposed to do and of the three other symptoms caused by myocardial bridges. 1 - compression of artery by myocardial bridge - has to be fixed because the MB is gone 2 - endothelial dysfunction & vasospams - usually years to heal but...
MB Myth #1: The Number One Myth - "Myocardial Bridges Cannot Cause Symptoms"
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.2 года назад
This study targets this myth specifically, but it is mentioned in many other studies by Stanford and others: Does isolated myocardial bridge really interfere with coronary blood flow? Daoud and Wafa, 2013 www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1110260812000683 The number one myth about myocardial bridges is that they cannot cause symptoms because they only affect 15% of the heartbeat cycle ...
