About the toilet bin, I have to say something: It seems dirtier to "keep" the toilet tissues in a bin (hopefully not for too long!Lol) but the thing is that if you flush it with water, you are contaminating more the water and the volume of tissues (higher than in India) can clog the pipes, causing a big problem. The general trash is recycled in special ways in Brazil, while in India, you see only piles of trash in many corners, even next to peoples homes, children playing, animals etc. In the past, Brazil was like this too, people would trow their garbage in piles on a corner of some street, but I think that since the 80's things changed a lot in this regards we started to have a better and more effective sanitation and garbage collection system (still a long way if you compare it to Germany or USA). Hello! I'm from Rio, the most visited city by foreigners. Some points to consider: - Stay in the touristic area, it's the best policed area. Ipanema, Copacabana and Leblon close to the beach is good to go. If you want to visit another area (Santa Teresa, Lapa. etc), go with an agency. - Stay in a good hotel, even if more expensive. - Don't visit the favelas, specially by yourself. - Avoid the main beaches when very crowded. There's a type of crime called "arrastão", when many criminals join forces to steal from people. - ask the hotel which are the good taxi apps for you to have. Enjoy the Cidade Maravilhosa!

As mulheres não estão seguras em nenhum lugar do mundo. Tanto faz se estão em um país desenvolvido ou não… infelizmente! Quanto a violência no Brasil de fato aqui não é um país 100% seguro mas também não é esse “ horror” que a mídia estrangeira propaga. O ideal é que o estrangeiro peça dicas de segurança para as pessoas do hotel e aos amigos brasileiros que já estão acostumados a conviver com a violência. Em relação as dicas eu diria para sair do hotel/ casa com pouco dinheiro e 1 cartão no máximo, evitar sair com jóias a não ser quando se está de carro, nunca ir em caixa eletrônico de noite ou quando o horário bancário está fechado, entre outras medidas 😉
