@@hcnhonor3239 I'm not saying you're wrong but when I was playing yellow on my 3ds, everything he said was true about the patterns.

@@harkharring2572 it's made up patterns. If you happen to still have it load up the game and you can see it. It's a false perceived pattern. Yellow has no slots rng in the game code. Just different timings. If you notice the 3rd slot only has one bar, the second has two, and the first has 3. That's not rng. Secondly, you can stop the machine on the bars every time. That immediately proves its not rng. Lastly, the slots always start from the same position. There is a sweet spot in the timing where you can hit every time. That's all he's doing. He plays until he finds the sweet spot and just maintains the timing. If you actually slow down and not button mash you can find that timing quicker

We have to assume you didn't defeat the exact same pokemon in those two situations. Since level, species, and DVs are the same, the only variable that could explain the difference in stats is StatExp. It's perfectly possible that you defeated one metapod too many, and that was enough StatExp to bump you that +1 defense. I'm also assuming you didn't deposit either pokemon in the pc, but that would apply StatExp before a level up. The formula has been tested, and confirmed for decades now. It is true and absolute. I left some sources in the description of you wanna read some more about it! But keep on asking questions! That is what makes the community evolve and learn!

@@Redchocobo But if you say "one 'Metapod' to many" and therefore +1, isn't that you saying you level up more if you beat more (i.e. lower) Pokémon? Also had one occasion where ALL 4 stats get +1 when battling lower level Pokémon vs. higher. If I ask you this then: my level 50 'Snorlax', leveled up to Speed-64, is that "normal" speed stats? His whole stats is 147, 103, 64, 104. I don't know what level I got 'Snorlax' in, but I have data from every leveling up since level 32, he had 31 is speed back then. (84, 57, 31, 57) All this done in the last 30 days, so I'm not going on a half-decent memory from a loooong time ago :-p I even caught a 'Chansey' that isn't supposed to exist! Caught 2 if I needed to trade 1 in the game for (which I don't), and when comparing them, which are in same lever, one of them had 1 extra (odd) attack available. An attack that you don't get by leveling up! One that internet says don't exist! It had *Softboiled* as standard.

@@thesweboy2873 Pokemon do level up stronger the more fights you win! That is correct! It is based on the number of pokemon you defeated, and the species of all those you ko'd, so for example, beating 100 charizards will mean you get stronger than if you beat 100 caterpies, and beating 100 charizards instead of 99 may yeld enough StatExp to bump you up an extra stat here or there! A snorlax with 64 speed at level 50 is perfectly average! As for the chansey, I'm stumped! the only way it can learn softboiled in RBY is via TM, so if you say it was caught by you, never traded, and you didn't use the TM, by all logic and reason it shouldn't have that move!

@@Redchocobo I like to meet those Caterpies that are as strong as a Charizard. But I get you. It's a strange concept... You would think beating a Pokémon you're weak against should equals more stat exp., but maybe not. If I wanna be good at fighting, I won't get better to just fight with 200 kids instead of 5 adults :-p Is this calculation on stat exp gains we talked about, same in all other generations also?? And here I thought he had above normal speed... but holy crap what a difference! So I spend the WHOLE L.50->L.51 to ONLY fight L.2->L.5 Pokémon (i.e. the game's beginning!), that's *400 Pokémon* to be able to level up, +/-30, instead of the 35-45 where I normally leveled up with him. Double HP, Attack and Special, over double on Defense, over *quadruple* on Speed than the normal place with L.17->L.22 Pokémon. So he has 73 (that's +9) in Speed now. I will NEVER do that again... SOOOO boring :-p I guess my Chansey is my "shiny" one!! Much weaker though... But yeah, caught by me, never traded (don't even know anyone that plays this game), and an original attack when caught, none TM used!

I'm trying to re-play pkmn crystal is the EV training in pkmn ruby/sapphire/emerald same in pkmn crystal? 1)like if my cyndaquil kill an abra it will gave me a +1 SP.ATK (+2 for kadabra, +3 for alakazam)? 2) and the max stat allotted for one stat is 255 points? Well, one of the reasons we created different names for Gen 1-2/3-8, is that it works with different numbers. RBY will work the same as GSC, everything that was explained here in this video, while RSE will create the new system that's being used to this day in SwSh! So training in crystal will follow the rules detailed in this video, but training in RSE will follow the rules you have in mind, with the +1, +2, +3, up to 255, sum of 512 total EVs. So the direct answers to your questions are: 1) Crystal uses StatExp, so cyndaquil killing an abra will give it StatExp equal to abra's base stats. As opposed to RSE where each species has its own EV yield (+1 Sp. ATK for abra) 2) StatExp can go up to 65.535 for each stat, so you can have a StatExp total of, for example, HP=62.454, ATK=57.367, DEF=60.999, etc. This is how it's done in Crystal! The only difference from what you saw in the video, is that, in Gen 2, Sp. ATK and Sp. DEF will have the exact same StatExp. They are always equal to one another! And the value is taken from the defeated pokemon's Sp. ATK, always! So for example, abra has 105 Sp. ATK, and 55 Sp. DEF. Cyndaquil knocking out the abra will give cyndaquil +105 Sp. ATK StatExp, and +105 Sp. DEF StatExp!
