A very useful guide. Thank you for sharing the history with us. Tim.
Of course that was Johnny Morris's voice again. I remember Hocktide so well from my childhood in the 60's / 70's.
Weird stumbling across this - Hungerford being my home town. Grew up in Chilton Foliat and went to school in Hungerford.
I cannot believe I have just found this! My name is Carl, I am one of 3 great grandsons of Oliver Brown!!!! His daughter Rosemary is my Grandma! Thank you so much for putting this interview on youtube!!
So glad you've found it and approve! I knew your g-grandfather well. A really great character! Hugh.
By strange coincidence, I am here in hungerford and have just spent an evening with Margaret who I am told you know very well! My wife and I are here visiting family and spent quite some time talking discussing Oliver! Thanks again!
Carl Radley Oh yes! Please give our love to Margaret and Gerald. Hugh
Watched this a couple of times now - and recognise several of the students as I went to John O Gaunt - thinking it may be slightly earlier that 1990 - mostly because Loheat as I remember closed down before I moved to Swindon which was in 1990. I was working at Berkshire Labels then in Everland Road, Ventram Design also moved to Newbury and became PIA Associates about 1988 - Nigel Leek set up Multiplex in their old building. I'm hazarding this was filmed around 1985 also Eurythmics 'There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart) is on the radio in Hungerford Framers - then located in Leverton - that song came out early 1985. Great video and a blast from my past.
I remember Tutti-Day circa 1967 - someone lovely chucked orange-peel through our car's window. We lived near Hungerford, and it's such a nice town that we didn't take the incident badly.
Not seen this before. Has made me nostalgic for my hometown - not seen Hocktide since the 80's - I moved to Swindon in 1990.
Great to see this again after so long. Remember making it like it was yesterday. Lovely to hear Johnny's voice again
