Hi, @ExDrumMajor80. Would you happen to have (or know anyone who may have) ANY footage of Hazard's Chicago show from this same competition (1998 KMEA State Finals)? For reasons I'll never understand, when KET filmed that year's competition, they used a single, stationary camera positioned at the top of the bleachers; thus, there were no closeups of any band members. (You can see that video on my page.) To my knowledge, this is the only year they chose to do that (they went back to multi-shot closeups the very next year), and it WOULD have to be not only my senior year in band but also the year the Lord blessed us with a third state championship! Not being able to see the expressions on any of our faces on that most special night has bugged me to this day. Ha ha! Anyhow, needless to say, I've been hoping against hope for all these years that maybe -just maybe - someone out there has better footage (and audio!) of this performance than the disappointing KET production. If you can help, please let me know! Thank you!

now i,ve seen parade floats with elephants in the rose parade but not real elephant pulling floats in the rose parade and to me that something i don,t see every new years day

It's crazy the level of craftsmanship and creativity that went into these floats back then and you can see how things have progressed for the worst I guess in the newer years for sure

Back when Lafayette looked like and performed like an incredible marching band.

I remember the Mercer County bands of 1995 & 1996. Pretty darn difficult music that while ambitious of them (or any program), they struggled with it the entire seasons. I think it was the 1995 band that started out smoking EVERYONE, but then I heard that they had to either slow down the temp or water some things down at the end of the season. Man, if they could have just had a little more time with these choreographies and music, we'd be looking at them unseating Adair County back then :)

Playing tuba for the marching band rn can’t wait for high school

A pretty difficult show for that era in marching band, right off the heels of the Cavaliers winning the DCI world championship with The Planets in 1995. Some really trick upper brass parts.

Bob Gregg is a legend amongst Kentucky band directors. Those Harrison County bands were legendary.

Mr. Jeff Hood always produced solid marching bands.

Bremen had a great little band in the late 1980's. Problem is, and for everyone else, another little band named Adair County kept hovering around 2A and 3A.

The Gilbert High School Tiger Pride Marching Band made their appearance in 1993 and I still remember it as a historical moment for the school after the 20th century...

That was my first gig after graduation, teaching the drum majors. It was such a pleasure working with Naila, Bridget, and Susannah. I hope they have seen this video. They rocked it out!!! It was so cold that night. Awesome year!
