My name is Robert Charles Christiansen III, (RC3)
Ive started this channel to share my interest and hobbies. My hope is to inspire others to begin crafting, woodworking, get out side and enjoy physical activity.
My dad was a real mans man. He loved being outside, camping, DIY projects, restoring things, splitting wood, arm wrestling, and most of all fishing. We lost him when I was 18. Since that time Ive been involved in anything that I thought would make him proud or things that he may have been interested in. This has always made feel close to him.
Now Im nearly 31 and I believe its time to share what Ive learned and to be inspired myself. I know theres a lot of people out there who are interested in these activities but had no one to teach them. Lets get out there!

Daiwa BG 4000 UPGRADE
I managed to snap off the knob from the real crank and could not get a replacement in a reasonable amount of time. During my search for a new crank assembly I stumbled across these Gomexus Power knobs. I was able to drill out the rivets left from the old knob and install this new power knob.
The new power knob was not a direct fit for the diawa bg. Diawas knobs are held on with a rivet. This will need to be drilled out and most likely expanded to a larger diameter hole in order to fit the new gomexus shaft.
At the end add a few drops of oil to the bearings as well as a few dabs of blue Loctite to the threads of any screws you used in the assembly of the Gomexus power knob.

PLYWOOD SHIP LAP
Просмотров 2413 года назад
After having the back wall torn apart for nearly 2 months, it’s finally been reassembled. My wife and I are very happy with the results of the makeshift shiplap. It’s just a small detail but little things like that add a lot to a tiny space. We took quarter inch thick plywood and ripped it down on a tablesaw to 5 1/2 inches. It was then primed and painted before it was cut to length and install...
Flooring
Просмотров 1483 года назад
Well we got our floor cleaned up. All the staples and debris have been removed. We went to lumber liquidators in Harrisonburg and they hooked us up with a cheap luxury vinyl plank flooring. Fully water proof with minimal expansion. We decided to go with a thinner cheaper product since this was just an experiment. And if it didn’t work out, we’d hate to waste an expensive floor. Overall we are r...
Technique for painting RV cabinet doors
Просмотров 5413 года назад
It sure is nice to have the cabinets and trim painted with their final coats. If you have access to a paint sprayer, I would highly recommend using it for all of the doors. Process: After you removed the cabinet doors, proceed with removing all of the hinges, knobs and pulls. Lightly sand any areas you plan on painting. Primarily the face and edges of the doors. Scuffing up the finish on the ca...
Repairing Water Damage ( RE-LAMINATING ) Jayco Eagle
Просмотров 27 тыс.3 года назад
During my pursuit of trying to find the best way to replace the water damage plywood on the inside of the camper, I stumbled upon a new problem. Nearly the entire back wall had become delaminated. I didn’t know anything about the fiberglass lamination. This was the first time I had encountered something like this. The toughest part about gluing the wall back together as one solid unit was tryin...
Recoating Roof Of 2008 Jayco Eagle
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.3 года назад
This will give you a quick overview of the previous condition of this 2008 Jayco Eagle. Overall, the roof was in pretty good shape but it was definitely time to re-coat the roof. After a few quick repairs with heavy duty silicone and tape prepping, Florence was ready for paint. I used the white siliconized elastic roof coating made by blackjack. Truth be told, I chose this product because I alr...
Let The Renovations Begin Part 1
Просмотров 1973 года назад
Well we’ve started tearing into our Jayco Eagle fifth wheel. She even has a name now “Florence the Fifth Wheel”. At this phase of our adventure, we have taken out the carpet, linoleum, carpeted window treatments, slide out trims, Old caulking, ect... All of the cabinet doors and drawers have been removed along with all the knobs and pulls in prep for painting. The furniture has temporarily been...
Announcement!!! RV FULL TIME

The last six years have been a roller coaster of crazy events in our lives. I met someone that I knew I would spend the rest of my life with. After I bought the engagement ring I was in a construction accident that resulted in having full facial reconstructive surgery. While my jaw was still wired shut and I was breathing through a straw out of my neck, I asked her to marry me and she said yes....
DIY THROWING STARS from old saw blades
Просмотров 6 тыс.3 года назад
Occasionally I will bring home retired sawblades. They are excellent for quick and easy throwing stars. Larger blades(10”-12”) such as for chopsaws and tablesaws, are typically thicker and work well for custom throwing knives. I start by drawing the pattern I want. Cutting it out with scissors. Tracing it to the sawblade. Then using a angle grinder with a cut off wheel, I can begin cutting out ...
EASY end grain Knife Throwing Target
Просмотров 109 тыс.3 года назад
Using scrap lumber that I brought home from work, this DIY tutorial shows how I build my portable end grain knife throwing targets. Many people will glue their blocks together. Using wood glue (along with the screws) to connect the blocks will expand the life of the target I’m not so concerned with gluing it together. After all, I’m just going to abuse it with throwing knives. This project was ...
Part 2 HOW TO HANDLE A HATCHET HEAD
Просмотров 9583 года назад
This video tutorial will go through the proper steps in handling a hatchet or axe head. The hatchet head that I will be handling is a plum Boy Scouts of America hatchet head. Once ive got the desired fit on the handle ( having no gaps around the bottom of the eye). I begin hand crafting a wooden wedge made from cherry scrap. Cut the cherry to rough dementoins, followed by tapering it into a wed...
HOW TO CARVE A HATCHET HANDLE Part 1

This came out really nice. I'm going to make one just like it. Maybe a hair larger
Looks well done !
Y'all are pretty good knife throwers. Wow! 🙂
Love your clamping system 👍
Why would this one not swell and split apart like your last one? I built one just like this out of pressure treated 2 by 4's and 4 by 4's. It expanded and fell apart... so I'm hesitant to build another one this way
Awesome vid, what kind of throwing knives do you use?
SOG fling
Amazing idea!
I'm curious - how much does that target weigh?
Never weighed one but they’re extremely heavy
Nice! It matches to your reel too. 👌🏼❤️
I have done a Job like this on the Front of 5th wheel and was parked next to 16’ tall truck garage an cut 2x4s and 12” wide PCs of 3/4” plywood for pads against the White fiberglass sheeting! They make a glue for large caulking gun to spread with 1/4” grooves! Campers are Usualy Hot Glued and Stapeled are a fk mess to tear apart!
Shoulda got new Stainless self tapping screws! I have put many of these camper windows in different trailers! I always silicone around the perimeter of window also! Another thing to silicone is the edges around all compartment doors. Especially the outside kitchen ones get left open for Roof over opening and will hold water until it soaks up wood inside panel and swells up an rots hinges and inside plywood!
No wood glue? That and some added oil or deck stain would increase its durability for weather. Also, why not stagger the blocks like brick courses for added stability?
Ive glued targets, oiled them, different types of wood but at the end of the day it’s made to beat up. I’ve tried oils and sealers but the blades don’t stick as well.
@RC-rl3zs I painted the center bullseye with yellow Rustoleum spray paint. It takes many coats and long drying time for yellow. All of a sudden, most of my knives were falling out or bouncing out of the yellow area. Didn't want to wait 3 days for yellow to dry.
Ho thick was the wall?
2”
How do you take the know off?
Won't the screws damage your knifes?
Throwing knives receive lots of damage. Hitting other knives, smacking the target at a bad angle, misses that wind up in the dirt or rock. But as far as the screws go, the 5 1/2in blocks are plenty of separation between to avoid hitting them. However, once the target is worn down enough it’s possible to make contact. It would take a lot of throwing to get to that point.
nice work!
Love your design I made mines exactly like yours but then I sprayed it down with Thompson's weather seal, and then I'm going to paint the edges
Nice. I oiled a target one time. It seemed like the knives hard a harder time sticking in the wood grain.
Molto bravo
What do you think of the Locktite PL Maximum product for laminate and wood???
They’re good products, but not for what I used them for. You can buy epoxy kits online that are for repairing the delaminated walls. I would try that next time.
How does that compare to a Cottonwood target? I know wood like pine and even oak can be tough to stick. Axe or knife. Cool target at any rate. Great job.
Never made one from cotton wood but I bet it would do well. I would try it.
If you want your knife Target for your throwing knives use some waterproof stain
Not serious issue but personally when rippin any material I keep what factory I can so basically when rippin the 2x4 if you would have helicoptered it on the second cut you would have had factory on both sides to work with. Factory will always be more precise due to human error and what not.
Good job
Красивая ручка Gomexus 🔥 Купил себе такую (не просто кноб, а всю ручку) для новой катушки Daiwa Exceler 4000C и жду её с нетерпением, хотя за окном зима и лрвить на спиннинг нет возможности.
Great job. Interesting that the tubes of construction adhesive worked. I guess the epoxy injection method would be needed, if the interior walls are still okay. Your clamping was inspired and I may steal that idea for a repair I’m planning. Thank you.
Does anyone know is it possible to fit a 6000 spool on a BG MQ 4000?
Нет, конечно. Шпуля 6000 не может поместиться в катушке размера 4000.
It would probably have been much easier to first prefabricate 1 1/2" panels with luan exterior over a styrofoam core, then cut the sections you need from the prefabricated panels. Then, just epoxy the pieces into place and you would be done.
Long commercial drove me nuts
Nicely done, what type of wood did you use for the end grain?
Pressure treated pine
You are good, you should make a tutorial video on throwing. I am decent, but i do nit have any kind of consistency that you seem to have. And i can only throw over hand with one hand
That's exactly what I wanted, beautiful, have one ? What are the knifes you are using?
SOG fling knives
Thank you, sir
Not everyone has a carpenter's garage
Do you have any videos of replacing an aluminum foam core frame floor? I’m facing all the same issues with my walls , ceiling and floor
I WANNA SEE A KNIFE THROWING CHANNEL TAKE 20 KNIVES AND THROW ONE TAKE A STEP BACK, ETC AND HIT EVERY KNIFE... WILL IT HAPPEN? OR DO YOU ONLY THROW AT ONE DISTANCE?
Great job. Thanks for sharing this
My next project. Great job. Always remember when your wife can throw that good you better be a good boy. LOL
Please can someone help by replying with the measurements of the block in cm and what type of wood an end grain should be used ? thanks
Pressure treated blocks of your choice cut at 13.9 cm long. I’m sure any wood type will work.
How many gallons did you use for your RV roof and how many square feet?
About 2 gallons for 280 sq ft
@@RC-rl3zs Thx. I was thinking about using that product too, but it said not to put it on EPDM roofs. Maybe I'll call Black Jack. My other choices are Gaco Roof or Heng's Rubber roof.
PRECAUTIONS: DO NOT allow product to freeze. Protective clothing, gloves & eyewear should be used during application of these products. When transporting this product, ensure that lid is tight & pail secure & upright. DO NOT allow pail to tumble as this may cause lid to loosen and leakage to occur. If there is any question regarding compatibility to the roof surface, test a small section first for proper adhesion. Do not use in drinking water or food systems.
This is fantastic! Thanks for the upload! 🔥
Great video. I need to make one of these for my axe throwing. thanks
What brand and style of throwing knives are you using, sir/ma’am?
SOG FLING
@@RC-rl3zs Thank you very much!
Hello, is there a standard way on how to make a throwing knife in order to become accurate when it come to its velocity?
I’m not a knife smith. Not sure I understand the question.
Complete waste of time screwing into end grain
Nice and simple tutorial Throwing with both hands is awesome
What kind of wood are you using for the 4x6 blocks?
Pressure treated pine
Forget that nonsense. If it dint fit right on perfectly, I ain't interested. Why couldn't they make it fit to screw right in?
Потому что это бюджетная катушка. Покупайте более дорогую катушку и ничего сверлить не нужно будет.
Just what I was looking for .. Thank you
Great job!!! Really smart how you did the clamping on the wall. That trailer is 100x's better than when it came from the factory.
Great video guys! Just got some knives and looking to build our own target next week 💪
Cool Build. I'll be making this real soon. When you throw, does the knife rotate or just like a half rotation? Some people throw from the blade and it rotates 180.
Depends on the knife. I typical throw from the handle from a range that allows a 360 rotation.
Depends on the knife/axe, thrower, and distance. Generally speaking, once you find the distance for 1 rotation, double the distance for a double rotation. It isn't always exact, but not too far off.
