HONORING COLONEL EARL T. WILLIAMS
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.3 года назад
Almost 79 years to the day, Col. Earl T. Williams (ret.) finally received his Purple Heart he earned on December 7th 1941. There is nothing B-17 Archaeology wouldn't do to help our veterans and preserve history. It took nearly 79 years, but history has be preserved.

B-17 Archaeology, A Cool Place to Be!
Wish they could get Her inside.
Planes Of Fame museum in Chino, California
Where is this? Thanks
It would be better without the music. Maybe explanation of what’s going on? I know this was on display in front of the national McGard and State Street. I saw that It was taken down a while back so is this the same one? Where are you taking it? Thank you.
First commenter? AWESOME!!! Please document this journey via RUclips or something. Go get 'em.
Beautiful.
Weight for long antenna wire?
Another airframe that not only needs to be moved out of that sun but hopefully to a group that will preserve and get her flying again. I know it will never happen but it should.
The Bomber used to be flanked by an F4. If the F4 is still there, it provides an interesting size comparison between the 2.
Ive never seen IV on a tail before.. What bomb group is that?
How can it be left outside in the weather, are there that many of them left?
My favorite landmark along 99.
Saw it driving by looong ago (~1980?). Nice to see it's in decent shape.

I was a truck driver I drove by her many a time pretty beast
Been by there many times and stopped in to look a few times. Wasn't there an F-4 Phantom parked there also at one time?
Is she structurally sound and what about mechanically??
Should be inside a museum
bs, should be flying
For some reason, the tail section seems to look a bit off, maybe its just me
In which way?
@@b-17archaeology3 got damaged about 20 some yrs. ago and repaired.
Cexially refreshing
Is that by hwy 99 ?
Yes, off Ave. 200 in Tulare, Ca
it's part of the title even man
I'd love to see an interior video no matter what's inside, if anything at all. Doesn't matter.
The complete episode will be on my RUclips channel this summer
Nice aircraft...love the pup doing guard duty!
Marley is my travel buddy and he has seen 10 B-17’s
@@b-17archaeology3 Good dog!
She looks good, but more information needed such as internal instrumentation, seats , control column’s etc , or is it a hollow shell ( I hope not) . What year was she built, and did she participate in WW2 , all aircraft enthusiasts would love to know myself included. The camera work was good and clear but a little fast , but , thank you for showing us a surviving gem!
Look at Aerovintage. Com, plenty of info there
Her complete story will be on my RUclips channel this summer with the first interior photos since 1946.
@@b-17archaeology3 there are interior photos posted already...."first interior photos since 2021" maybe. A few years ago a group went over there and polished the airframe. It was well photographed both in and out.
It’s been about 25 years since my family and I toured the museum at Hill AFB. But I remember this B-17. A couple of weeks ago my son and his son toured the museum; they tell there’s a major expansion soon to open.
Right now maybe a half a dozen still air worthy. Hope they had enough flight suits for all his staff up there at 30,000+ feet and -50+F.
Nice.
were is this museum? North Korea?
Ogden, Utah
Filscout, THAT was hilarious!
This is a great museum. They have both the B-17 and the B-24 in really unique displays. Very clean and organized as well. Thanks for posting.
Neat. It's got an Early Sperry ball turret mostly used on B17F and E's.
Every time I drive highway 99 I look for her and the F-4 phantom 2at the airport. Great show 👍
All the time wasted. And that poor man never received it in his lifetime..typical govt. red tape...
Why has there been no further content on this channel? Are there plans to resume?
Thank you for the comment. YES, I have been working on new complete episodes. I am hoping the newest episode will be up on Veterans Day. We are making a few changes to include additional aircraft. The new series will be “Surviving Warbirds”
I am so glad to hear that, I know it takes a lot of work and effort to create content, so greatly appreciated for your passion in keeping this most important part of our history alive and igniting that same passion in others to learn about the B17 , it's crews and its storied history, that was so vital in helping to bring to an end the war@@b-17archaeology3
BAD ASS. NUFF SAID. ❤
Social distancing... get over it
Please remember this was done during Covid and I cannot go back and change it.
Nice vid but not sure about the claim that 80 per cent of Bombers were lost to flak and 20 per cent were lost to fighters ! I've always been told it was the other way around with the exception of the last few months !
Surprised it didn't become a firefighter
Trailing antenna weight.

I'm looking for info on my grandpa's B-17 FiFi of the 8th airforce. ~ Pilot Full Name: Captain John W. Miser (middle name Whitworth) ~ Army Air-Core ID: 0-786605-T43-44 ~ B-17 Name: FiFi ~ NAF: 8th Airforce (The Mighty Eighth) ~ Time Period / Theater: WW2 European Strategic Bombing Campaign This is all the info I have, if you have any info on him or his B17 that would be super awesome.
I'm curious if you have any info about my grandpa Capt John W Miser, like which B17 he flew during the war or who was his crew members or missions he flew. Any info would be hugely appreciated. His military ID number was 0-786605-T43-44 *Edit: I found out his B17 was named FiFi.
Have you done any videos or anything on Ole Betsy aka Swoose? She's got a pretty cool story
I would love to have your job, I've only been in a B-17 once when I was a kid, don't remember which one though, it was at Aurora Municipal Airport in Sugar Grove, IL. I might be able to ask my friend who runs the FBO there I'm sure he would know.
This is super awesome, I'm gonna have to watch all of these videos now. My grandfather Capt. John W. Miser was a B-17 Pilot / Captain during WW2. He also claimed to be the youngest B-17 captain but that was an unofficial title since he falsified his paperwork to say he was 18 when he joined but was really 15. He dropped Bombs over Europe and notably in Germany which is funny because he was a second generation German American. He had a funny story about how on the last mission he flew him and his crew stayed up all night drinking and continued to drink the whole flight and got so drunk they bombed a beer brewery thinking it was a weapons plant and the next day the Germans gave up saying they can't fight without beer. Unfortunately he didn't talk about his time in the war very much but I do have one of his dogtags and know he was a B17 captain and retired VP of American Airlines. Hope you enjoy my grandpa's story, much love - Josh Miser
Just passed by this afternoon on 99SB. She's really looking great!
Boom boom on a parked aircraft doesn’t admit you to the mile high club LOL
I’m very happy you restored this B17 as a Operation crossroads veteran.my father in law Morgan Laird was a navy veteran from operation crossroads and pulled the filters out after a mission through an atomic cloud
Is your father-in-law still with us? In my DVD I have video of the men pulling the filters off the planes. Might be your father-in-law.
It was 12 O’clock High that had the crew enter in the forward hatch
Thanks Greg for all you do
A plane w/that much "Different" History is Hard to display. I personally would like to see it represent the Generals Command Plane. There are plenty of B-17's in Combat form. The meat hauling/Cargo door bit is interesting but was here 2nd life.
We chose to keep the overall look of the Generals plane. The guns are what make it a true B-17. The door is Kept close, but it history. The marking are all General Ira Eaker’s plane as it was in WWII
HOLY COW! What an incredibly ridiculous video. Is this one of the videos that Walmart is paying you a million dollars for?
Thanks for taking the time to watch the clip. RUclips is a media where you can have fun, that is exactly what we did.
