Railfanning Spring 2024

Spring is a wonderful time of year. The temperature starts warming and the plants start growing. The snow melts and the rivers flow more freely. I love to get outside and enjoy the weather and watch some trains as well.

Eastbound intermodal @ Bearspaw

Here we can see an eastbound intermodal train coming into the west end of Bearspaw siding. I accessed this area via Haskayne Legacy Park. (Opened in Sept. 2023). The park's pathway network links with that of Glenbow Ranch's pathway network. Parking for the area is at the east end of the park. I walked about 2.5 km to get to this point. I'll have to come back to the area to ride my bike when the...

Railfanning Canadian Pacific's Mountain Subdivision (2nd Edition)
nicely done. Glad to see you appreciate the scenery as much as the trains, too!
Superb. Thanks.
Great catches awesome chase and nice video
Fabulous trains in beautiful settings, thanks for sharing - and greetings from the UK!
Such a beautiful train but that very ugly silver-green-blue diesel just ruins the effect!
Steam. To mechanical horse power. The sound and feel.
Wonderful to see this great train. Joe I subscribed 2 u.
She's burning bio diesel
It’s going to Mexico City!!
HAVE A GREAT TRIP 2816
Sweet catch!
Fun fact: The whistle is being operated by air and not by lever or rope. Commonly the valves of the whistles are opened by a lever connected by a rope (or just a rope) back then many locos had these kind of system or even both. Not as cool as blowing a whistle by rope (basically honk honk) but it's a rare sight!
Well at least it's a steam engine alot more than you can say about cn which needs a steamer also.
Very nice, like
I took a picture of it in canada alberta
2816 is going to make history!
CP hydrogen loco also there?
It's making extra water for the boiler.
The unit with the green nose?
That whistle is not that great
Don't say that!! As far I'm aware this is the only time in this century a whistle is operated by air and not by lever or rope, back then it was common for whistles be operated like this
@@danikoo582it’s cool just doesn’t sound as good
@@ironhorsemedia2881 Yeah
Wow that’s awesome it
2:05 is my personal favorite
Yes, that was quite the long horn blow. I think the engineer saw my kids and wanted to be extra showy.
Ver nice series of videos!
Love the Canadian railroads, my stock is mostly CP, CN and ONR.
That is really clever.

Sincerely hope that a few railroad museums will preserve a few of these classic hoppers.

That was a brilliant piece of camera work ! The location’s were perfect. One of the best I’ve watched ‘ Well done !
Thank you. It wasn't easy. I had a lot of footage to go through. Almost 9 years worth. Glad you enjoyed it.
👍🏻👍🏻
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💖
Awesome video
Apparently they’re getting scrapped? Is what I heard?
Yes.
Nice closing shot at Morant's Curve
That's not Morant's curve. It is Exshaw.
this is so cool
cuuuuuute <3
Dropped many a train in Field coming through Revelstoke and Golden, my favorite was the passenger train all the way from Kamloops to Field.
I worked that subdivision in the late 80's loved it.
This is amazing! I love the simplicity of it and the perfect addition to a LEGO amusement park's kiddie land! I would love to see some instructions or at least a piece list because this is honestly awesome!
I don't have a piece list but, I'm sure if you watch the video enough you can figure it out.
Great shots!
Where was the 2nd shot?
Can't quite remember. Somewhere between Morrisey and Elko along the Forest Service road.
I think right about here www.google.com/maps/@49.3480005,-115.0049908,3a,75y,355h,92.34t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sx_STkORRzklQWu6D7w7xrQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
@@MJohnny05 👍 thanks
Well done!
Great editing job, good angles. Lots of work there! As an Albertan who has railfanned the line since the line since 1970s between Calgary and Field, I thank you for sharing and particularly for indicating sometimes, where the train was. It brought back a lot of memories of standing in some of those spots over time.
If you were to hike in these areas near this railroad, would there be any danger from bears or other dangerous mammals? Also, are there many hunters with guns in the Canadian wilderness here? Thanks
Large portions of the CP Mountain Subdivision is in National Parks, such as Yoho. No hunting is allowed in the national parks. There is always risk of running into wildlife out in the mountains.
What the heck is that the same one I cot in Calgary Downtown on 1:17
This is really well made, you should pitch the idea to Lego dude, I’m sure enough people would support it
Great videos! was the video at 0:47 taken?
There's a transition between 2 different clips at 47 so...I'm not sure which clip you're referring to. The one just before is an eastbound near Edworthy Park. The one after is just passed Shepard/Wild Rose.
@@MJohnny05 I was curious about that second clip. Looked like Wildrose, but I wanted to check. I go there a lot.
That’s my run Laggan sub ❤️
