this may be one of the only - if not the only - scene where you can sense some of the humanity left in Alonzo. it's uncomfortable to feel even a little sympathy for a cold blooded killer, but this movie teases a little of that sympathy out of everyone - even if they don't want to admit it. great flick

Reading about this encounter in the book by Stephen Abrose. 'BAND OF Brothers' - a great read by the way, was probably the most riveting account of an assault in that book, besides an account of the assault on some big gun emplacements (Brecourt Manor) back in Normandy that were hammering the Utah beachhead.
