Hi, I'm Phil and my channel is just for fun and may appeal to folks who are adventure sports fans or just curious. I'm a keen skydiver, mountain biker and skier. I've been skydiving for over 35 years and have well over 1000 jumps. I jump mainly with my veteran buddies at my regular club at Headcorn in Kent in the UK. We're all in the 50 - 70 year old age range and more social skydivers rather than adrenaline junkies! I'm also a keen mountain biker and took up the sport in 2010 as a means to get some exercise, as well as have some fun and was perhaps something to do with a midlife crisis. At about the same time, a few buddies of mine also had the same midlife crisis and realisation of mortality and also took up the sport and so most of my MTB videos are with those same guys. My skiing is purely based around my family and skiing holidays in the French Alps which I love. My kids (not kids anymore) are far better skiers than me but I love to video them. I hope you enjoy my content!

Another great day's skydiving with the LBW boys and girls. A bit of hanging around awaiting the weather but well worth it in the end! A big thanks to the staff of #APA Netheravon who kept us in the air when the weather finally broke (3 jumps in just 3 hours!) www.netheravon.com/

Fantastic skiing in Val Thorens, weather was a bit mixed but didn't spoil the fun. Most of the skiing stars are the kids (not kids anymore). So fast and skilled these days that I can't keep up!

This was a very generous gift from my wonderful grown up children on the occasion of my 60th Birthday in August 2023. My wife and I rose very early to take advantage of a beautiful Sunrise and stunning views of the country around 1 hour's drive from Marrakech, courtesy of Ciel d'Afrique Hot Air Ballooning. www.cieldafrique.info/

Some of my best times I spent skydiving, loved it but sadly I stopped due to other reasons, best not mentioned to much on here, but I still miss my best mate and my injury from USA whilst jumping. Blue Skys forever. Awesome videos and so jealous. Well done.
I’m planning on taking my Sister skydiving next month for her 21st birthday. She’s so pumped and I’m a nervous wreck. Can I ask you just a couple questions? - How long are you in free fall for before you pull the parachute? - How do you know when it’s time to pull the parachute? Like I know it’s before you hit the ground (Lol) but is there a specific time that’s best? Or does it just depend on how long you want to free fall before? - If I pulled it right after I jumped out the plan would it just be a very slow and boring ride down? Or you’re not allowed to pull it that early? - What are the chances the chute won’t open? Is there a backup? - What happens is the backup doesn’t open either? Is there like a worst case scenario plan” if all the chutes don’t work? - After you land how long is the plane ride to get back up? - Am I overreacting/overthinking this and it’s going to be a lot of fun instead? Thank you for answering my questions! Awesome video! -
I'm not a skydiver and have only done a tandem jump and completed AFF Level 1, so please feel free to correct me. - When I had my first Tandem, time seemed to fly by really fast up in the sky. I believe it lasted around 40 seconds. - If you jump solo, you'll have an altimeter on your wrist to track your altitude. In a Tandem jump, the responsibility lies with your tandem master, so you don't have to worry about anything. The focus is on altitude, not time, once you're in the air. - It's crucial not to pull yourself inside the door frame, as that could lead to catastrophic consequences. However, once you're out of the plane and deploy your parachute early, it becomes a leisurely ride. I'm not certain if it's permitted at 4,000 meters, but if you choose to do a Hop-n-Pop, it's a different scenario. - The USPA publishes annual statistics on the total number of jumps and the fatality rate. In my opinion, the fatality rate is quite low (one fatality per 200,000 jumps in 2022). While people often compare skydiving to various activities, it's best to conduct your own research using Google. Several safety measures are in place to ensure skydiving is as safe as possible, such as the automatic activation device (AAD). This device activates your backup chute if you reach a specific altitude, especially useful if you become unconscious. - If you're skydiving solo, you need to be familiar with emergency procedures in case something goes wrong. The likelihood of experiencing a "faulty" main and reserve parachute is minimal. Most accidents occur due to user error. - It typically takes around 20-25 minutes to ascend back to 4,000 meters. Additionally, the time required to pack the parachute varies between 20-50 minutes, depending on your level of expertise. - Yes. While it's essential to consider these factors beforehand rather than when you're at the door frame, skydiving is an incredibly enjoyable experience. I can assure you that you'll be smiling non-stop for at least a whole day, pinky promise.
Yeah Hamish!! lets crack some jumps when you get back to Australia!!!
Awesome

Nice!
After watching your vid I went straight out and bought a whyte e-160s. Cheers for the steer mate.
I was wondering how the trails looked this time of year, didnt look that bad. How much of it is closed?
sorry for the late reply and thanks for your comments. I havent been back recently but saw on Facebook that most of them are now open again after some winter maintenance
nice vid, i was there day after you, good to see all the work they've done though I missed having Holby, Dad's, Helter and cake.
Hi Matt, and thank you! yes, a shame that these trails closed but we viewed it that it'll all be worth it once the work they're doing is finished!
Phil Cosgrove indeed.
How long is this trail guys, great Vid by the way 🤙🏻
Nice one mate looking good there great video really nice flying don 🤠🇬🇧👍👍👍👍👌. I have subscribed
Thanks so much! My second flight with it but great fun and looking forward to more!
My BRO, have you had a problem with max lens foggin on skydive? Here in brazil it fog up right on the midle of the LENS!
Hi Mate, no issues with fogging and it was minus 16 degrees C at 12k for these jumps. However, I had fitted a GoPro silicon sleeve and lanyard which covers the area where the lens meets the camera body, maybe that helped ?
Sick video! Just subscribed and would love it if you could subscribe back please!
Thanks very much for subscribing and have just subscribed to your channel (love your videos, impressive stuff)
@@exzygosis Thanks!
Thinking about buying a used one with a 170mm fork & upgraded brakes for about 3000 pounds. This video just makes me really want to do it. Seems like a great machine.
Keep uploading!! I really think that you deserve more views! Do you know of SMZeus . c o m??? If I was you I’d use it to help grow your channel!!
Were the boots your own for the GoPro mount and what did you use ? thanks
Hi Bill, I used a modified GoPro wrist strap with a modified/longer strap which I wore around my calf. (sorry for the slow response!)
Nice! Love the stills at the end. And a Spitfire!! Bonus 😀
Is this the Godstone in Surrey? That was so quick
Yes, that's right, some great riding around here!
Looks like you had a blast. Planning a trip there real soon
Well done, enjoyed it! Are you riding 2019 or 2020 Decoy? Considering it as my first eMTB.
Thanks mate, its a 2019 Decoy (I bought in November when it was discounted) and is my first eMTB, I absolutely love it. I enjoy it more than any bike I've owned. I'm a big fan! Good luck if you buy one, you won't be disappointed
👍 I’ve watched a reviewer complaining about noise it makes (motor/derailleur?) when shifting gears, have you experienced anything like that?
I haven't really noticed any exceptional noise, the motor whirs a bit more in a low gear on the climbs but I think that's normal and gets quieter as you change down in to higher gears from mid range, it's certainly never bothered me. I also saw a review mentioning noisy gear changes but again I've never noticed anything exceptional. The cassette is a bit beefier than a non eMTB, so there maybe slightly more noise but I've honestly never noticed it. Because of the high torque you get into the habit of changing up or down the gears without too much load on the pedals otherwise this could make it noisier and also increase wear on the running gear. I've found that the gears index really well, they're very precise and I've never experienced anything that was out of the ordinary.
Good to hear, Thx!
trail weapon that!
nice video mate! just been there recently, got shown all the iconic spots and trails! Would appreciate if you check my channel out for some DH content from the South 👍
Cheers bud and glad you enjoyed the Surrey Hills checked out your channel and great riding and flying country!.
Great video and soundtrack, thanks, I am thinking of getting the Aeris 120. That looked a whole lot of fun there.
Sorry for such a late reply! Thank you for your kind comment. I hope you got your 120. My mate has one and absolutely loves it and was in fact the reason why I bought a Bird too but I wanted something with a bit more Enduro geometry, hence getting the 145
Trails look sick
Looks amazing 😆😆
like the rear mudguard, what make is it?
Matthew Dray Thanks, its made by RRP (ProGuard). It does look good but like all small mudguards it only provides limited protection but at least helps keep the chainstay linkage clear of crud!
Nice bike! Is it yours or bedgeburys?
Thanks! This one's mine (I'm a lucky boy) Bedgebury do hire eMTB's (Whyte E150's) which are also great and where I first got the taste for eMTB's
Ok i would love to have a go on one but i love my hardtail more!
I don't blame you, stay with what you love because once you've tried an ebike, there's no going back!
Ok i will keep that in mind! Although im thinking of upgrading to the marin san quentin 1 any negative/positive thoughts on it?
Gotta be honest, I don't know the Marin SQ but Marin do make great bikes. I'd recommend just doing your homework before parting with your cash, as there are a ton of great hardtails out there all tailored to different disciplines and styles of riding. My mate has an 'Orange Crush', which he loves but they can be pricey
Hows the bike feel mate. Looking to get one for myself this season but im a bit sceptical of the length of these things. im 5,8 and looking at getting the M/L
Hello, thanks for asking, the bike is fantastic, I love it. I've had it for just over a year and ridden it all around where I live in the Surrey Hills. I've taken it to ride in Andorra including the Val Nord bike park and a couple of times at Bike Park Wales. Don't worry about the length, it doesn't feel anything exceptional, the length gives it tons of stability and just soaks up everything and let's you ride with total confidence. Mine is the M/L and I'm 5'7 and perfect for me. The guys at Bird are brilliant, you can demo the bike and talk to the guys that own the company and designed the bikes directly about the exact spec you want for your style of riding. I can't recommend it enough. Good luck!
Nice video! But where is cardiac ?
Is this the pinetum?
Hi Shameer Shah, thanks for your message. Yes kind of, the trails are within the pinetum but are separate from the walking and family cycle trails but it's all at the same location.
Phil Cosgrove Thank you. I’m in Kent often and so, I should make an effort to ride there. Looks good 👍
Wow, that's pretty nice stabilization using a chin mount!
Thank you yes, I'm really pleased with the result (wish it could have been a drier day!)
Cool trail 👍
Thanks, I love this trail, its right on my door step where I live in the South East of the UK (Surrey Hills), an 8 mile loop of great single track, so perfect for a short blast!
cool 👍👍
Is it as good as the video showed? As me and my bestmate are going to be hitting it soon and we are wondering if we need to wear pads? Nice video though :)
Hi Toby, These are a consolidation of some of the nicest runs and so not consecutive trails (there's a little bit of grind to get to 'em in between!) but it's a great trail centre, especially in the dry. You can ride it as leisurely or as aggressively as you like. I wear pads all the time out of personal choice and they have saved me from a good few bumps and scrapes over the years but it's really up to you. Have a great time and thanks very much for the nice feed back. Cheers Phil
The best bedgebury edit so far....all the other bedgebury edits made by others show all the boring shit. I can say this edit made me wanna go to bedgebury even more. Good job
Thanks very much for your kind comments Jack and glad you liked it! I hope more people give Bedgebury a try, it's such a great trail centre, with lot of great runs for all skill levels. Cheers Phil
How did you get on to this trail as we live in Godstone and can't find it? Cheers
Hi Stuart, I ride up passed the Orpheus centre (North Park Lane) to View Point and then East heading towards the Bridge over the A22. (Ride behind the bench at the start of the down hill for about 50 yds and then drop down the bank back onto the trail. Follow the trail taking the right fork half way down and then over the A22 bridge, turn right and keep going for about 100 yds taking the trail on the left off the unmade road, down the steps to the Britannia storage buildings, continue up the hill towards Woldingham School and through the barrier down Hill towards the school, at the bottom of the hill turn right and then immediately left (graveyard on the right). Up the hill until you reach your first right, up a long steep trail and keep going until get to Great Church Wood. (It's a bit tricky to describe from there but basically follow the main trail until you reach two great rideable trenches and a large bowl, me and my mates call it the "Bomb Hole". Drop into the bowl (a little scary the first time) and follow the path back up and out the other side and to the main path out of the wood to Flower Lane. Turn left onto the road and immediately right and look for a path shortly after on the right that is parallel with the road and follow this trail to the end where you'll have to drop back on to the road for about 100 yds and then look to the right for a long path back up to Flower Lane. At the top of the trail on Flower Lane, you'll see a trail on your left, bomb down this trail until you rejoin Flower Lane at the bottom (look out for tree stumps and a fast, loose stoney right hand bend at the bottom to the road. You're then on Flower Lane and that's the end of the route. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, it's my favourite route around here. Cheers Phil
thanx fella, really apprieciated.
Nice demo of the paddle, and the Progression, and your surfing skills!!
it aint even steep!
Love it Phil - especially the Snowdon bit. Will you be doing that again THIS year? Where can I find the mountain biking song... it's wonderful?
Thanks very much and glad you liked the video, the mountain bike song is actually just called the "Mountain Bike Song" and its by a country singer called John Winn. Yes, reckon we might well be back later in the year and will definitely check out your place if we do. Thanks again for your comments! Phil
Phil Cosgrove Thanks Phil. Sorry that I haven't come back to you sooner... been moving house. We'd love to see you... give me a shout when you're ready ;-)
Thanks a lot guys! It was really fun to share the boat with you! I hope we´ll hve the chance to snorkel again together sometime!! Cheers. Nano
Great video thanks for posting !
Omg what a fail of a video
