A girl gets her first furisode when she is 13 it is called jusan mairi, this milestone was to celebrate a girl becoming a young adult in which she adopts adult hair styles and clothing. So u can wear furisode before 20.
i want to gooooooo!!!!!!! and get a kimono let me dres like that and wear it all day. only one thing iam gonna worry about is how do you get out of it???
@GgSoulsister True, but this is the dressing of a very formal kimono. More informal kimono can be put on by one person if they know what they're doing.
@rhythm465 Corsets westerners used to reshape their ribcage and stomach were only used in the past two hundred years. Before then it was only about support and smoothing the stomach area a little, it was never supposed to reshape the body. It was for comfort and could easily be adjusted for body shapes changing. (such as pregnancy) Miss Scarlett lived in a time when the fashion had gone dangerous- ideal was 'waist small enough for a man's hands to fit perfectly around a woman's waistline.'
@kirakirahatsjamu THe early corsets weren't bad at all, they were quite good, very comfortable, they just held things in a bit and gave support. The fashion where women tried to shape their ribcages and stomachs into dangerous shapes came pretty recently, only the past couple of hundred years, before then it was about support and smoothing, not about reducing stomach size.
wow i love kimono...especially furisode... but i've never tried any of those 'cause i'm not a japanese. the obi looks really tight... i'm afraid i'll faint if i try it out... although i'm quite used to shallower breathing, i can't stand if the obi's too tight. anyway, it is really really beautiful...want to try.
this kind of kimono is not too fancy for me, i have a furisode and i like how it is so fancy, this is very special. its hard to wear but worth it for the look.
violent kimono, torture...hahahaha I like your sense of humor. But this tugging makes us straighten our back out. btw, what about your westner's corset? Miss Scarlett directed Mammy to pull her corset strings very tighter in Gone with the Wind.
That is a beautiful furisode... and the process of getting dressed isnt as bad as it seems. And she is most definitely getting dressed for the Coming of Age Ceremony... she has that fur stole around her neck!
Cool
これ、成人式、ですよね?随分衣紋の抜き方が大きいように見えるのですが、気のせいでしょうか?
I like how gentle they are when dressing her
Gina Lekasdottir Usually it’s “ buck up buttercup “
c'est magnifique très beau

Yo quiero uno¡¡¡
How many ropes and ties are involved there? 0o
This raises one question for me, I have friends that are around 170-180cm in height do you think that they are too tall to wear a kimono?
I can't wait to celebrate Seijin no hi and dress in a furisode too!!!
i have a juban that looks like hers (but its not a furiosode one) and i just realized how visible it was under my new ro! :( what am i to do?

I guess you just can't put this kimono on!! It takes a 1/2 hour just to do this!!
She reminds me of an ojou-sama! So pretty!
@aimanVIOVIX me too!!!!!!!!
@DepressedAnimeAddict Fukura Suzume, Chubby Sparrow. It's a popular knot choice for furisode, I gather.

haha, @ 2:05, that reminds me of when we're little and our moms tell up to hold our sleeves down while we put on our winter coats!
Very pretty kimono but I wouldn't be able to breathe with that obi on

That's about as elaborate as you get for kimono dressing. Next to a wedding, this is the only time a girl will wear something so extravagant.
violent kimono, torture...hahahaha I like your sense of humor. But this tugging makes us straighten our back out. btw, what about your westner's corset? Miss Scarlett directed Mammy to pull her corset strings very tighter in Gone with the Wind.
too fancy for my taste. Very beautiful
It's such a long process!! But beautiful....
