Hello! What is the measurement of the envelope when it’s finished? I’m trying to see if I can tuck a 3x3 picture into it without folding it. 🙏 Great and easy tutorial by the way! :)
Hello! You might be able to tuck a 3x3 picture into the first, rectangular version of the envelope (video: 1:24) without folding it if you use the paper size indicated. I just checked on the envelope I have, and it is: 3.1 x 3.7. The second version, with a little triangular top part (video: 1:44) will not be big enough. It is possible to make the envelope bigger using a larger sheet of paper, but you would have to calculate the correct measurements which can be a work in itself. This envelope will not form if the measurements are incorrect. If you decide to do so, it would be a good idea to try first on a regular piece of paper you would not be sorry to throw away. I hope it helps.

I absolutely love this origami envelope. I use it to send my rent check out. It's very easy to make and looks beautiful! If your paper is so large that the tail on the last fold(when you fold it into 1/3's) is too long, you can easily fold it into itself. Basically, if you get to the last part and you have overhang with your paper, fold it over the edge to get the crease, then fold it back toward you and tuck it into the fold.

The size of the paper you need depends on the individual's head size. For the project on the video, I used the paper size 12 in x 12 in (30.4 cm x 30.4 cm). It's smaller than the size of the person's head. The best option to find a correct size of the paper would be to try (first out of the paper you don't need) how it fits when the paper of a bigger size is used. I would probably try to use the paper a half size bigger (I would start with 18 in x 18 in first to see how it fits, from there I would adjust the paper size according to the size of the person's head).

Thank you for asking. For this project, I used origami paper 6x6 in (15x15 cm). The paper can be of any size, as long as it's a square.
