Ever thought that maybe they're gonna eat it? Or that they didn't kill the critter and released it again? Animals (humans included) eating other animals is 100% natural. If you're gonna be upset about a creature being eaten by a human then be the same way about raccoons, bears, mice, etc. doing it too. You won't look any less stupid even then.

Thanks for the advice! We are learning for sure. It was weird, at first it didn’t even fight. We thought we had a Spanish or something on. Then it took off. Next time I’ll leave it in gear

@@TheFishingHunters that's because the fish was probably coming back at the boat, with wahoo you always want to leave it in gear if you're trolling at 10 to 11 knots you want to fight and reel that fish at 4 to 5 knots. It's happened to us before a lot of times they turn and come back at the boat, when the line goes slack that your biggest chance of losing the fish cuz they're doing all kind of funky head shakes underwater

@@TheFishingHunters didn't know they had a season. When did that start ? Worked a small snapper boat out of P'cola & a grouper boat out of New Port Richey to the Middle Grounds. That was 30+ years ago though.

The recreational season for gray triggerfish in the Gulf of Mexico typically runs from January 1 to December 31, with seasonal closures in January-February and June-July. The closures are intended to help the stock rebuild and prevent overfishing. In 2025, the season in Gulf state waters will open on March 1 and close on May 31, then reopen on August 1 and run until the end of the year. The minimum size for triggerfish in the Gulf is 15 inches fork length, and the bag limit is one per person.
