sorry mate i solved this problem a while ago. it was the crankshaft sensor which needed replacing. The alt is working perfect 14.5 v

You should check the voltage your alternator is putting out. The battery light will only come on if there is no current coming from it. The cam shaft and cam position sensor has nothing to do with that light. If you are having static idle it could be a number of things but the battery light is without doubt alternator or current issue. A battery with the engine off will read 12.1-12.7 volts typically. With the engine running and the battery is charging correctly it will read 13.5-14.5 volts
