Running Like A Mother Clucker Adventures
Добавлен 15 янв 2024
What started out to be a way to document my first marathon journey has turned into a lifestyle of adventures. I try to keep a positive outlook on life but keep it real with my videos on how training and adventures really are. Most adventures are fueled by coffee and a lack of sleep as a busy, single Mom of 2 kids, a pet owner (🐔 🐈 🐟) and an in-home childcare provider. ☕️ 😆
Join me and my 🐔 girls on our journey to my first marathon, cycling, bike touring, cross training, travel adventures, new adventures and more.🏃♀️ 🐔 👟 🚲 ⛺️ ❤️ ☕️

The Ohio to Erie Trail (OTET) and what I learned on my first bike tour
Просмотров 24119 часов назад
See what I learned, liked and disliked while on my first bike touring adventure on the 326 mile Ohio to Erie Trail (OTET). I discuss the ups, downs and everything in between. *I stated we stayed at Rustic Retreat. We did (day 5) but I meant to say Trailside Lodging on day 2 (cabins). #ohiotoerietrail #otet #otet_2024 #rideyourbike #ridelikeagirl #ortlieb #ortliebbikepacking #railtrail
Day~6 Ohio to Erie Trail (OTET) Xenia to Cincinatti (67 miles)

Day 6 of the OTET was perfect! We woke up in a cute 1978 vintage Airstream camper in Xenia just a few miles off the trail. Our last day of this adventure brought more great weather, the beginning of Fall, some familiar territory (Loveland to Cincy), more great bridges and boardwalks along with a little taste of Kentucky (my home state) via the Purple People Eater Bridge (see bonus footage after...

Day 5 was great! I love traveling through so many tunnels and overpasses, going over boardwalks and bridges. Today took us through open farmland and small towns like a lot of this trip. The weather was amazing again and we met Duncan Adamson on the trail. He has a pretty cool story that you'll see here. We all have curveballs thrown at us in life, right? I hope you follow his journey on Instagr...

Day 4 was my favorite day!!! We made our way to the top of Rastin Observation Tower, rode on The Underground Railroad, went across a really cool boardwalk/bridge and had a much needed relaxing night. As you can probably tell, I am a talker and I LOVE peopleing, lol. We met the owners of Kolacheez Coffee Bar and More Space at Your Place in Centerburg, Oh. Day 2 (of 6) on the OTET didn't disappoint except for that part where I wrecked my bike. 🤦♀️A rainy day 1 makes for a slippery trail on day 2 but don't worry, there's footage. 😬😁 Honestly though, day 2 was great and the weather was perfect! Join us as we leave our B&B in Akron, head through Amish country and along the rail trail before landing at the cutest little cabin in Millersburg for the ...

Join us on this rainy first day (of 6) of riding The Ohio to Erie Trail from Cleveland, Oh to Akron, Oh over the bridges, through the tunnels, passed A Christmas Story house and more! Our trip began with a rear tire dip at Edgewater Park in Cleveland. Along the way we grabbed lunch at Fisher's and they were so gracious to let us dine inside although we were covered in grit. New adventure tonight and I'm so excited!!
Congratulations on your age group win!
@@ruthrodden7264 thanks!
I bikepacked Illinois just as the first bike trails were established here. I did it solo because I was the only person I knew who would consider doing it. I used a gazetteer to plot courses that avoided gravel roads. My longest adventure was from Springfield to Grafton. When I arrived at Grafton I discovered a brand new bike trail that hadn’t even officially opened yet, the Vadalabene bike trail running from Alton to Pere Marquette State Park. It was an astonishing discovery.
Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed all the videos. We had one of those rainy days on Day 1 on the Greenbrier River Trail. Covered with wet black cinders and had to do the hose off everything routine. Yuck. Couldn’t force myself to put on the wet shoes and do day 2. You’ll be my inspiration for when I get rained on when I do the OTET….just have to laugh it off and keep going. 😊 Congratulations on meeting your goals.
@@Bikin-Mike I loved reading this! Rainy days can be tough, for sure but I'll tell you my secret. I always strap a pair of flip flops on the top of my bag so I can easily access them. It's great if you need a break from your shoes (especially when wet) or to easily slip them on as soon as you're done riding for the day versus having to unpack everything and dig around to get comfy. Good luck on your OTET trip and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. 😊
Great job with your videos!!!! You need to do the GAP/C&O trails now!!!
@@e-bikeskibum7141 another one is in the works for next year. 😉
I enjoyed those videos too! And your talking about it made me constantly smiling!! I done all of the trail 2 1/2 times now. Last one was 500 miles non-stop riding down and back from my house. I will do it again with more sleeping and camping and seeing more great attractions. I got over 8 thousand outside cycling miles for the year now.
@@speedysmed the scenery is beautiful so there are plenty of places for you to enjoy along the way but I'm sure you already know this. I'm really glad we went in the Fall.
Thank you for recapping your ride on the Ohio to Erie Trail. We hope you come back soon!
@@OhiotoErieTrail I hope so, too!
Imagine being one of the workmen who had to climb the iron rungs on that tower to do maintenance at the top. There's not enough money in the world to get me to do that! 😉

@@dustybarrick3661 I'm so glad to here that! I hope you stick around.
Loved the OTET videos. I enjoyed seeing all your stops along the trail. I hope to travel the trail this Spring and your videos are helping me prepare.
@@gregwood4502 I hope the weather is great for you in the Spring. I listed gear, lodging, etc. in the descriptions but let me know if theres any other info. you need.
I rode from Dayton to Cleveland and back this summer. I really enjoy watching these videos and reliving some of those experiences. Thanks for posting!
My #1: Chamois Butter! That's no joke! 😅 Enjoyed the series and appreciate your follow-up here on this video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love this bottom section. There is such a wide variety of scenery. Thanks for bringing us along!
At 3:15, The church just south of the grain bins has a water faucet available. The little park in London at 4:47 allows overnight camping at the shelter area. Restrooms and water are available outside the senior center seen in the background. At 6:44 the Purple Monkey in South Charleston is a good lunch stop. Awesome sandwiches and pizza. All of this is in my neck of the woods..... Glad y'all enjoyed your day.
That's all great advice. Thanks for sharing!!
What were the dates you rode? I rode the south half from the Ohio river to home here in the London area 2 weeks ago, for the 2nd time. I split it into a 3 day ride on my trike, staying in Mason and Xenia. I have yet to ride the northern half. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
@@swilliams2575 we rode at the end of Sept. and into October. It was a great trip.
Saya cemburu pada Negara anda begitu alami, sedangkan Indonesia banyak polusi 💔 dan jalur sepeda tak ramah bagi saya pesepeda.
@@nonaEmiliana9 Ohio was great to ride through; very little pollution. The path is definitely cyclists and pedestrian friendly and we're very lucky to have these rail trails to ride.
Great series! I hope you do more cycling videos in the future! That 90 Deg turn at 4:25. I remember it well. We were coming the other direction and had to climb that short steep beast, lol!
@@MKokruok1 that was my longest bike touring trip and I wanted to give each day it's own video. I'm not sure if you've seen the others I've posted like Tunnel Hill, the Parklands, etc. Since the OTET I've done another big ride (for me). Shhhh, it'll be posted soon so make sure you've subscribed. 😉 That 90° came out of nowhere, lol.
@runninglikeamotherclucker I should have looked for the other biking vids. I'll go check for them, thx!
Enjoyed it too! I did a down and back a couple weeks before you did this ride from near Wooster where my home is, down to Cincinnati and back non-stop riding with lights that lasted for two nights of riding. Dumb, I guess, but different kind of riding for sure. Riding all night long on super quiet trails and roads. About 500 miles and spent less than $30. for drinks and food. I will camp the next time I do this ride to see more great sights along the way.
@@speedysmed you're a super star, for sure! I like nighttime riding, too but that might be too extreme for me. 😆
Congratulations! Thx for sharing your adventure. Looking forward to my trip next year.
@@Bikin-Mike I hope you have a great time and great weather! I put info in each description with lodging, restaurants, mileage, etc. if you need any pointers. Safe travels!
I enjoyed this series, thank you for bringing me along !

Drury Inn treating you right! I bet it was tough to get back on the bike and leave that next morning. 😅
@@MKokruok1 The Drury Inn was waaaay more than I expected. The food and hospitality were great!!!
Another well-done video. Im binge watching today. On to day 4!
@@MKokruok1 I love it, thanks! Day 6 will be up very soon.
Entertaining video,.... sorry for your crash, but you took it like a champ. Holmes County hills are no joke!😅
@@MKokruok1 My bike was hurt more than I was. That's a win when you're on Day 2 out of 6, lol.
Quite the wet start on your adventure. Back in June, three of us did a four day from Cincy to Cleveland. Every day was in the nineties. We did hit a major thunderstorm in Corwin near Waynesville. I had water pouring from my shoes. So, I can relate a little bit with your start. 😅
@@MKokruok1 There was definitely water pouring from my shoes, too...and everything else. Riding in 90° temps don't seem fun at all. 👎 I hope you were able to still enjoy the trip.
Looks like beautiful weather this day. What a cool place to stay there in Xenia.
@@JasonSchneider99 it was great, the weather and the airstream. I highly recommend it!
You have day 5 and 6 ready to put on here?
Day 5 will be uploaded very soon. Day 6 should be shortly after.
Day 5 is up. Enjoy!
There’s day 3. Thank you. 520 no shoulders and hills. Ughh. I’ll be happy when that section of trail gets completed. Hopefully in my lifetime😀.
@@Bikin-Mike I wasn't a fan of that part BUT it was mainly because my shifter wasn't working. Those climbs were tough! I don't remember the traffic being too bad but you're definitely riding the road.
Where’s the day 3 video?!? RUclips pull it for some reason? Really want to see the SR520 section I’m dreading. I see they are building new trail so hopefully part of 520 will be gone next year. Thanks for showing the Drury. That’s where I plan to stay and I’ve never seen anyone else mention it. Glad to see they are biker friendly. Glad your weather improved😀
@@Bikin-Mike Drury In was VERY cyclist friendly. They even had an air pump at the front desk we saw some other cyclists using. Day 3 is back, lol. I pulled it because it uploaded very grainy in some places in the video. When I corrected and uploaded again I had it set to private. 🤦♀️ Thanks for making making me aware.
You are amazing! Rain, grit and crashing and still laughing. Good for you. We rode the Greenbrier River Trail in a mess like that and it really took the fun out of it. Congratulations on staying positive. Enjoying following along.
@@Bikin-Mike I'm so glad you're enjoying. We have to laugh along the way and the crash wasn't too bad.😆 It could have been worse
Not much better than a free beer... but three?? 😂 Looks like a great day on the bike.
