Thank you for making this! I just started my booktube channel and this video was one of my inspirations to doing it. This was extremely helpful as someone who knew nothing coming into this space :)

I LOVE THIS JUSTICE FOR TIMTAM!!!! You should at the very least read the christmas time novella, made me absolutely abhor Rhysand for what he tried with Tamlin.

I never like Tamlin. He was always the overly dominating type yet he didnt help Feyre at all while Under The Mountain and then after all that suffering, he started being extremely domineering again. I could never forgive him for that. They obviously never belonged together. It was just a union of convenience from the beginning. A lot of book fans are extremely infatuated with toxic relationships. He was never fully ipen with Feyre from the beginning. How do you fall in love with someone you dont fully trust, or listen to? Nah.No FEYRYS slander will be tolerated. FL!!!!

cracking up at how you point out as far as Spring Court knows, Feyre can't WRITE. how are they supposed to take her letter at face value??? I clocked onto the obvious point that the SC would assume Rhys, the evil mind-controll faerie, was mind-controlling her to say she's fine, but I missed the fact that she couldn't even writeslkhjfdkgd that letter is a joke

I can’t believe that o forgot to come back and tell you that because of your vid / recommendations I went and bought the Audible version of Bound and Barbed and I actually loved it (not surprising as Vamps or Fae are my kinda thing I rarely find a book with them in that doesn’t work for me lol) The ending KILLED ME tho, very veryyyy YA coded but I did just get book 2 but I’m waiting on the release of the final 3rd book before I listen to book 2 considering the cliff of book 1 lol !! I agree with a lot of the points you're making about the wierdness of the lack reaction to Rhysand's taking Feyre away from her wedding and Feyre's tantrum and all that. It was confusing and hard to read. But while I didn't perceive Tamlin as being super abusive based on what happened, and I do think he was given a bit of a short shaft regarding his own trauma and what he was having to do to protect and rebuilt his court, on the other hand, I interpreted the whole thing not as that Tamlin was so horrible and abusive, but as that he and Feyre essentially grew apart following Under the Mountain. It was clear that what he could give her, even on his best day, was not what she needed (freedom and cultivation of her own independence and ability to protect herself as well as emotional support for her trauma) and what Feyre could give him was not what he needed/wanted (someone he could trust and could keep safe and a symbol of stability for both him and his court). They just were not a good fit. What he did with locking her up in the house as he was leaving WAS wrong but I think the point of it was not necessarily to make Tamlin out to be just horrible (and perhaps that's why it wasn't a more egregious offense, like more of the explosion and animal tearing up of stuff) but more providing an important turning point for Feyre, allowing HER to see that who Tamlin was was not someone she could live with for the rest of her life. Despite all of the other signs and things Tamlin was doing previous to this she was still clinging to her memory of what their love had been and not truly seeing how they were harming each other. You're right in that everyone who is freaking out about Tamlin being so horrible is taking a very one sided view, but I do think we can see from that that Feyre and Tamlin were a poor match, even if he was trying in some ways it wasn't what she needed, which she found with Rhysand. The real turning point on Tamlin's character for me was not at the beginning, but at the end of the book when it becomes clear that he is so obsessed with Feyre and so untrusting of her own ability to judge what she needs and wants that he makes a pact with, essentially, the devil, in order to force Feyre to do what he believes is best for her. He could have written her back, he could have reached out to her through a less emotional third party (Ianthe? we don't really learn how horrible she is until the Hybern episode and previously we were thinking she was a friend, or Lucien, just send him to scope out the situation and talk vs kidnap her), he could have probably even tried to come rescue her, but instead he assumed her to be completely helpless, despite that she had just demonstrated her own capacities under the mountain, went behind her back, did something that was objectively HORRIBLE in partnering with the guy trying to take over the kingdom and who's assistant had CAUSED all of the original trauma, to instead force his will. That was really just inexcusable and he deserved everything that happened after that.

Everyone can be traumatized and have PTSD but Tamlin. I rolled my eyes so hard at that character assassination.

Ive watched a TON of "how to start a booktube" in the last few weeks as i get ready to start my own and yours was so helpful. I actually have so much more confidence about it now, so thank you ☺️

If you think this is bad, Feyre’s behaviour in ACOWAR is even worse. 😅😅😅 Rhys is basically written to be SO perfect he is unbelievable as a person - no room for character development or growth, he is a progressive feminist and the perfect partner. No one is THAT perfect, especially someone that once drugged and forced this girl to give him lapdances. 😂😂 It’s bizarre to me. I absolutely feel the sentiment that the first book feels like a waste of time. I think she wrote ACOTAR as a stand alone and later decided to expand into a series, and decided to add loads of unnecessary twists. I absolutely don’t see the Feyre/Rhys romance. I skip the scenes while they’re together, literally just skim the dialogue to get a gist for what’s going on. 😂

Love the books. I recently did an inventory on all my historical romance books and I have over 400. My plan is eventually to read them all and the ones I don't like or need anymore I will give away. Maybe I will do box bundles like you're doing but that would probably be 20 years down the road LOL. Even if I'm not a fan of the books or the the authors if I love the covers or the step backs it's hard to give them away.
