The 78rpm Saviour
Великобритания
Добавлен 12 сен 2021
Old 78rpm records played on old machines. Some crackle and pop, some have the odd click but none skip. I am a collector who in the main buys job lots for pennies. Which means 99% of these records would end up in land fill if not picked up - hence the 78rpm Saviour tag.
The vast majority are UK releases the few that are not have that mentioned.

How not to handle a newly arrived shellac 78. For a split second I thought it might be vinyl, shatteringly obviously it was not 😕 #broken78 #shatteredrecord #brokenrecord

Is jammy Red available in California? Looks yummy😂
Beautiful!
Glad you like it 😎
Originally released in 1950 on {American} Golden Records R-31.
Just a tip, you should record the records digitally in the future
That would defeat the whole point of the channel. Digitised (sanitised) versions are freely available of all these records. The point is real records on real record players as we enjoyed them back in the day.
I remember having an alba record player like that one and buying crazy by Mud.
:(
The first were russians
Yes and this is conducted by Julius Ehrlich (of the State Opera, Leningrad)
this flies off the needle like a rocket!!
That is a great description and it certainly does
Sad.
It's the first one I have broken trying to play it.
@the78rpmsaviour61 into each life, some rain must fall.
R.I.P Good Record... This is the worst accident expically if it's your favorite record. I've tried bending a hard vinyl 78 a little bit but it broke in half.
I had a crazy thought flash through my mind which took a split second and caused this. The thought was *this feels like vinyl*, so a gave it a tiny squeeze, nope it's shellac 😥
Now this, I like!
So do I, really good for a B side
Great singer & recording
Yes Rusty does a great job with this
What year is this from?
It's from 1953
I have been watching and reading politics all day. I done gone crazy. Had to give it a listen.
Hope it cheered you up
@the78rpmsaviour61 it did cheer me up, but I am still crazy. :)
I've never heard of the song. I've never heard of the singing cowboy. I just couldn't pass up finding out about this gal, Hillbilly Bessie. Lol
I'd not heard of the song or singer before picking the record up either, but I do like it's simple charm as a track.
Yeah!.Buddy Holly!!!!
What a great singer, sadly taken way too young
Los 4 aces
A great vocal group
Bella cancion
It truly is
Sorry too noises try again next times goodbye God Bless😊
This is not a sanitised remastered track. It is a real record playing on a real record player 😎
Love the 78 rpm
Thank you I am glad you like it. This is quite a rare one as it was a flop, I can't believe it was not a hit. I like it a lot 😎
This is older than Paul Anka?
No it came out the same year. Embassy was a UK budget label in the 50s and 60s. Where singers and musicians recorded Chart hits of the day. They usually did so under fake names and were paid day rate for the work rather than royalties. These records were not considered for the charts as they were sold at a low price in one high street store Woolworths.
@@the78rpmsaviour61 I had no idea. Interesting. I bet my brother had a few when he first started buying records. Good old Woolworths, with the lunch counter in the back.
I have that same 78. Love that song, it's one of my big favorites in the category of train songs and Stonewall Jackson is one of my favorite singers. Awesome music.
Buying this record is my introduction to Stonewall and I absolutely love it. Obviously I rushed out and bought some LPs to hear more. My judgement is what a great artist.
@the78rpmsaviour61 Definitely a great artist
Not every day do you see a “SUN” 78RPM record
No not where I am in the UK, but I was lucky with this one from a UK based seller.
Nice song and player
Thanks I am glad you like it. I have a lot of old players but this Elizabethan is one of my favourites for sure.
Great.record great dansette
Yes a great record but it's not a Dansette. It is a Elizabethan Pop-Ten, one of my favourite players. The same colour one behind it though is a Dansette.
My Little Margie!
Not sure if that TV show jumped the Atlantic to here in the UK.
@the78rpmsaviour61 It's a really old one, 1950s. It's probably in here somewhere.
Just noticed all the John Bulls. I have one from when my sister lived in St. Neots in the 70s. And My Little Margie is in RUclips.
Never heard this. I like it.
Another artist new to me and I also like it.
When I saw the name of the song, I wondered if it was this song. I have never heard this version. Thanks!
My pleasure, she does a pretty good version I reckon.
❤ love this song nice lyrics Joan dowling sang on Columbia records back in the 50 s Thanks for posting 🙏👍😎 Ron Uk 🇬🇧
My pleasure. I did not know of Joan's version, I see it was the B side of The Windsor Waltz. I will have to look out for that and get it uploaded if I find it. Thanks for the information 🤠
@ your welcome 🙏 and it’s wonderful like the same stuff and who appreciate this kind of music and 78 Take care thanks again regards Ron Ron uk 🇬🇧
@@roned9189 Thanks, for is still a lot of great music out the on 78s, Jamie also UK
@@the78rpmsaviour61 Joan sang is it any wonder and Jimmy young covered that song As well it’s on u tube Ron
You gotta love it!
Newly discovered version for me, from Pat Boones younger brother, I think he did a great job.
Wow! A “SUN” 78RPM, don’t see those everyday!
This makes number 12 for my collection. Here's a link that has them all together in a play list. Hopefully I will add more studio.ruclips.net/user/playlistPLqXYmeh9X_Cf1zaUp20B1LbAWzEjacHyu/videos
Catchy tune 😊
Yeah it has a charm of days gone by to it
Grew up with this music......
Amazing picture disc
Lindo recuerdo
I think that most musically inclined people would rate Alma's voice ahead of Teresa Brewer's. But, at least on this song, the feeling and inflection that Teresa put into her original created a much better listening experience.
Interesting I don't think I've heard this version of this song before. I've heard a version a version from it that became a hit in the late fifties. But I don't think I've heard this version before.
I think this version has been pretty much forgotten as it failed to chart. Being released in 1953 the year before Alma took off with Bell Bottom Blues.
My introduction to this song was Conway Twitty. Strange to find just how many songs are really covers. Lol
i love thiss sooo much thank youuuu 🌷❤
Wonderful! Did you find this disc in the UK? There was some real good pop and doo-wop released on jubilee and their label in 1952 is one of the most vivid ever! Thanks for the upload!
Charlie Brown?
Gentleman Jack still there?
Not that bottle no 🤠
Never heard of these guys. I dig it! Thx.
One of the better known Psychobilly bands here on the UK scene of the 1980s. They are still gigging today, I am glad you like them 😎
💃💃💃💃ooo wow🌹velvet🌈
Nothing beats vinyl! NOTHING!
I knew three out of four. I think I heard the fourth one, but by someone else. It wasn't as smooth as Sam Cooke. Thank you.
My pleasure it's a great EP. 'A Change Is Gonna Come' was not only a Sam Cooke original but he also wrote it. Otis Redding covered it and more recently Seal. To be fair who is as smooth as Sam Cooke 😎
@@the78rpmsaviour61 I didn't know Otis Redding recorded it. I have to admit I have never heard anything by Seal.
That must be Hank Ballard!!!
The abscense of the piano is evident....gee 😪😪😪😪😪
Run out of beer 🍺 but I’m still listening 😢
Where did you get that great phono
