Grand Banks 42 engine sequence for startup
Lots of good examples of this boat on the Great Lakes that have never been in salt water.
wow...how to make boating complicated ! How about not shutting all those valves and seacocks every time you dock boat. ? ..... What would I know...have had a boat for 20 years.
Where was the head? If I missed it I apologize but I don't recall seeing it. Tuck away portable toilet or? Sorry, priorities lol.
There is no porta pottie on the boat
I have hull number #80 and mine has the same trap door as yours as a FYI, and is a great. Does not get stuck like the trap doors.
This was a brokerage boat that has sold. However, I had a FT10 so known them well. The cassette affects the top speed while motoring but is much better than the two bomb bay door options. The double one was a nightmare with the pin rusting out
What's the price and where is it located?
updated the description with listing information
What a pain in the ass lol
What sailmake made the genoa?
Doyle
It looks awesome! I have a Dehler 34 -91. But with selftacking jib only. We do well in hard wind race, but need a genoa for the light air competitions. Do you know the specs of this genoa? I guess its mylar, do you know weight/thickness? Is it a 150%? How much wind can it take/ time to change to smaller?
Btw, your DB2 is abolutely stunning......it is flying in what seems to be a very light breeze! 🤩
@@vikinghasselo it's a 155%. I might consider selling it as we have converted to a max non-overlapping sail for ORC. Where are you located?
I was the original owner of that boat. Great to see its in great shape and winning!
The class banned me from driving after winning back-to-back Nationals. Great team and a fun boat
Barrient Wenches, my favorite! Love the teak handles. I crewed a 41 when I was 13. We raced all over Lake Michigan into Lake Huron. I soloed the 41 when I was 14 from Muskegon to Chicago. I have raced the Queen's cup dozens of time, and did the Chicago to Mackinac the year I brought the boat to Chicago. Owner was always passed out before sunset, so I had to put the 41 in the slip, and tie it off every night. Currently buying my first boat. Ironically it's a C&C 34. This boat is beautiful and so well taken care of! I can't wait to leave the dock. Eventually, I am going to solo out of the Great Lakes to Puerto Rico. Back in the day, we navigated using the Loran C! Boy have things changed for the better! I love using the sextant to navigate as well!
This is absolutely stunning. I cannot believe you have Donald Healey's own boat. It belongs in a museum in the UK. Thank you for restoring a piece of English history to such an amazing condition.
I thought we had the boat sold to a UK buyer but the deal fell through, sadly.
Agree with confirmation of water spitting at start up…everything else is massive overkill. In fact, the likely cause of leaky sea cocks is the cranking of valves so often. Only open and close when onboarding and off boarding, ie going home to land.
Wow, I had a DB2, Necessa, brought over from Sweden for the Bermuda race. It was the best race boat I ever had and so exciting to sail. Good in light and heavy air
Very few db2's in the US. Do you know where the boat is now? There is a good facebook db1 & db2 group. We'd love to see some old photos!
you forgot to mention she's a Chuck Paine design!!
Since 18 years I own a princess 40 with corresponding engines and genset. It has Volvo TAMD63 engines and an Onan genset, and I have laid 30 000 Nm and 4500 hrs behind me with very little technical problems. And I do nothing like this ever before engine start. I press the Start bottons and there you go. Oil pressure and engine temperature are checked now and then on the gauges. Now and then I have a look in the engine room to see that there are no leaks. No extra fuzz here and not on my car either...
Lost me at the mask. 2:24. Not a real sailor.
what does that even mean? Filmed right at the start of the pandemic so everyone being careful. Has nothing to do with a 'real sailor', and you also might note this is a powerboat...
Hey Chris 👋
Gas tanks in the cabin so old style hey mate what’s that smell as you light up your cigar …. They were always fast and able and at 26 k offer 20 because that’s max value for a 40 year old boat which ouch has not seen a standing rigging change in 40 years …. Move the tanks aft in a special gas container please . Check hull for blisters at this age She will need work to be safer and if she has been raced hard that standing rigging must be replaced . In fact 20 to 25 years is life span after that it’s sailing on a wing and a prayer . Simple rig so should not be that much
it's diesel and the boat sold many moons ago
Lovely
Beautiful GB
Thank you if I ever win the lottery I know I’ll have to hire someone like yourself
Nice boat looks well cared for.
I'd buy it if it was on the east coast ! Communist California has been absolutely ruined by the democrats ! I could never live there and moving the boat from there is too much of a problem !
I love the GB….looks well maintained. Oh yeah…..GO DAWGS
Класс!!!👍👍👍
That fridge would look much better with a Gator sticker on it 🙂
saw one of these beauties in Clearwater FL for about 6 months... every day on my way to work. dude lived on it with his family or something. always loved it, was my favorite boat in the harbor. one day after a particularly bad thunderstorm, I saw him aground just off the trail I ride. I stopped and even got in the water to help dig a trench so he could get her out. helped that guy for a couple days, came back the next day on my day off to help. I don't know what happened, I went to work after the second day of helping, and she was on fire, burning to the railing. Clearwater Beach Fire and Rescue got it under control, but she sat there for a few more months before being either pulled away or hauled out and scrapped. I found the mainmast in the reeds and kept it. was awkward riding a bicycle home with a large wood boom, but I made it and it still is leaning against my backyard fence. I feel really bad for dude who lost home, and a beautiful piece of craftsmanship.
You sound like our PM! Ammm!
Muy conservado el barco
Garret and Tiffany - Best of luck in your future. It was nice to see Seafarer again. Don would be pleased how well you cared for her. It brings a tear to my eye.
Hi Andrew - I have passed on your comment to G&T. They have no shortage of Don anecdotes!
I mint to say GEAUX TIGERS..
Nice GB, and .. hopefully this next season will be better.
i mint to say GEAUX TIGERS
Cat Alert!
Great looking ship
Where (as a 2 cat mom and dad) is the litter box?
The litter box was in the forward cabin. Some kind of self cleaning tray set up. Very clean. I wish my cats were as good!
Those calves though…
È davvero un sogno ma mi accontenterei anche del 42 Classic. Credo che sarà la nostra prossima barca :) - She's really a dream but I'd settle for the 42 Classic. I believe she will be our next boat :) The problem is finding good GB here in Italy.
The 42 Classic is a wonderful boat but the full walk around bed in the aft stateroom is very nice. The 49 is substantially more boat but they are hard to find!
I made an offer but the agent thought it was too low to present to you. I felt it was inline with the center fuel tank not working.
I'm the agent and the offer was presented and was too low as I emailed you. The center tank has not been used in over 30 years because there is ample fuel capacity. A simple pressure test during survey would have sufficed.
@@winnsail31 I believe your response was “If you've ever bought a vehicle going by NADA that is a joke. Based on the comps I'm not going to insult the sellers with a $125K offer, if you are serious. Your finance guy has no clue on vessel values. Maybe doesn’t even know what a GB49 with Lehman 150 turbos is…” Not looking to argue. Just wanting to help new buyers that are new to the yacht buying world. Nothing but the best to you and the sellers in 2022. Cheers!
@@galanconn I stand by my comment about NADA valuation and your finance person. I presented your offer and it was refused, as expected. Hope your other deal went through. Happy New Year to you and yours
The lazy cat not being able to stay is a deal breaker for me😢 beautiful boat though wish I was closer to being ready to make a purchase
if you need cats I will mail a few to you
Very nice....Awesome looking trawler. I love the Grand Banks design!!
Very nice and seemingly affordable and excellent location.
All I can say is ....Why...
Very nice. Is she still available? Is there a w/d or water maker on board?
Hi Peter. She went into contract today. Please email me with those questions. Thx
Nice sewing machine
great boat.wish it were near me....did you sell it?
Yes, sold. Happy new owners!
Yes, what a fuss, it is not a Concorde aeroplane. I owned 5 years a 32 and after that 11 years a 46 Classic and it was only visual check and push the buttons to start the V8 Cats.
Anybody not familiar with setting things up in sequence, will not profit much from this demonstration. The narrator is mumbling through a mask that probably isn't necessary. His fumbling with the equipment and in general, gives up very little in the way of useful info.
This was last year as the pandemic was just getting started so a mask was definitely a good move for the owner and myself from a safety perspective. As I previously commented, this was for the people in New Zealand where I sold and shipped the boat. I just put it on my channel for them and not as a teaching tool. I had the boat for a while prior to shipping and didn't bother with a lot of it.
Great boat. I've been looking into a good number of sailboats over the past month and I'm beginning to think that for what I want to do a C&C is going to be what I want. Only problem is some of the older ones aren't set up very well - this one has had all that old superfluous crap already removed and the running rigging updated to more modern standards. I won't be actually ready to buy for another year or two but if I were in the market now this would be a contender for sure.
Solid boat that looks good at anchor and trucks upwind. New owners are thoroughly enjoying her.
Lake Ontario... Lake Erie... You know heavy seas.........
Obviously you don't have a lot of experience sailing Lake Ontario or Lake Erie...
Obviously
yes..why?
Had one. Great boat
That’s a very full sail inventory.
Good Lord, it's not a battleship your starting up. If I did this drill overtime used my boat, it would take out all the fun. Check the oil, start and go. Work the sea cocks monthly.
yeah, it's a bit of overkill. But, it doesn't harm the engines and if the captain is willing to make that effort, why not.
