i have been saying that this and other decks are much better than the so talked about Dragon from nakamichi that i had two ,one in 12/1982 and other in 1994 both were a terrible headache, but in late 80´s at least in all countries of Europe all hi-fi publications ,the most known, tested it against others and the conclusion was that it is a nice deck but by all owners complains it seems like it happened to me twice as i been informed that the 90´s version had been improved but more of the same, lucky me that they sell fast for not much less than bought new, but i always refered 3 decks i own and in every senses possible no Dragon comes near them, one by far is the Teac Z-7000(my fathers deck) and having also the Z-5000 both are much better in sound quality playing or recording. Azimuth , a litle screwdriver solves all , but i had also a Revox B215 and a 79 CT-F1250 from Pioneer(who are flat recorders), so as i always said others were more expensive ,in december 1982 i paid 800 dollars for it so this being 1.800 and built 100X better than any dragon not counting the ones on game of thrones those seem to work okay, i know it because i remenber, today why do people think that at least since 2017 when 70´s components disapear from ebay, increasing all prices ,there were all years since then, Dragons for sale not that they can fly and trow fire from their mouthes (maybe because the owners don´t want them and sell them for a fortune, the other better decks from nakamichi not once they appear for sale))but when new they do sound good and because in the 90´s ,more like 94 when buying a new one it worked okay and for a period of 8 monthes before summer arrived and i was using only one type of cassette ,the C60 TDK SA-X ,having also a Pioneer CT-93 where i could record TDK SA and SA-X and maxell(before the grey casing,that destroys fast any deck) also sony UX and UX-pro c90 or C60 and type I AR, AD and AD-X from tdk as the C60 SX I, XLI-S and XLII-S from maxell ,those were still good cassettes and today i have hundreds of them because they were ofered to me in a big surface warehouse, they were going to incinerate all in early 2000´s,i went there and brought home all that could fit in my biggest car a mercedes 350SE from 71 ,only the front left seat was free so i could drive the car filled with boxes inside a box or to fill the voids i open the boxes and let them fall into every car hole a box couldn´t fit, so only have to say that i today have a big hi-fi component colection including 48 cassette decks at least, this because my father had a lot of the best and i had also some but he passed away and all came to me, today i don´t need anything else till i die and spent money on a Rega P10 1 year ago or less, also a technics receiver that as all praticalities and only one sound output but i have others to record anything i want ,or reel decks ,minidics decks, DAT decks and my third but cheaper system of recording music, the cassette deck, now i´m using the CT-93 that i installed new belts ,the Z-7000 and the b215 from revox this restored to perfection but i still use a nakamichi deck maybe the best they built the Cassette deck 1, but also the ZX-9 making compilations on streaming services ,not like from a better source but very close and having the most quality possible in cassette i ´m recording them with 10 minuts crossfader, i even took my car radio cd player and installed a ALPINE ,that was one of the best car audio brands with JBL speakers and today no one asked me to "play this cassette ....and after you play mine", no one as them anymore and i´m not that young anymore to travell two hours to the beach with girl friends or just friends to the beach starting maybe two weeks from now,i´m in Portugal, sunny and hot most of the year ,this winter we even had 5 degress celsuius that didn´t happened for 20 years, one stops travelling to the beach in second half of november and starts in the second half of march and to make surf or windsurf any day of the year is good and the sea as perfect long waves as they are tall, but i think the ones who likes this kind of sport already heard of the underwater canion of NAZARÉ, for the ones who like 30 to 60 meters waves i like them when having a beer and watch others gamble their lifes to surf them ,that was only when in my 30´s, but TEAC is maybe the best deck in the world both Z-5000, Z-7000 or the V-7000 along with the REVOX and top end pioneer models, Technics are GOOD Direct Drive ones but the engine isn´t strong(only 12 to 15 years of use) ,Sony might be good from factory , have a TC-K555ESL and the TC-K909ES. Eneuf Zed?or matbe other questions about AKAI decks who are also very good like the GX-75,95 are the same or the old GX-630D or even the DENON DRM-700A or DRM-800A and i had to refer the PHASE LINEAR 7000 series two who his close to the TEAC V-7000(maybe not)

Bought a pair of Energy C9’s 20 years ago for half off. Got them for $650 on the recommendation of my buddy who worked at Good Guys at the time. I really had no idea what I was getting except my friend, who’s listened to all these speakers and amps all day long at work, wouldn’t stop raving about them. They have been the best speakers I have ever had and I never want to part ways with them. Today they are paired with a Yammy A-S801, the third amp these speakers have seen. It doesn’t really matter as long as the amp has lots of power(over 100 watts) these speakers crank. They still blow away my friends who have newer more expensive speakers. People…get some of you if you can!

The tweeters sound great even on YT. I bet if the speakers could be pulled away from that rear wall, they would sound even better and reduce that slight mid bass exaggeration caused by being closed in

note that if the belt of the counter is broken the deck stops working (it seems to be a safety for the tape). After replacing the belt it works.
