Transcribing Jan Hammer's Solo on Jeff Beck's Play With Me.
This ahead of it's time classic from Jeff Beck's wired album has always captivated me. The star is Jan Hammer with his leads and this incredible solo. So here it is. A goldmine of licks, some of them difficult to play on the guitar despite sounding very guitaristic.

Layla Unplugged by Eric Clapton-Solo Transcription

Transcribed this for a student of mine and felt like sharing it! Notice that there are some nested tuplets (16th note triplets) that I could not notate on Guitar Pro 7. Very unfortunate. In measures 6 and 9 those 16ths should be a hammer and pull off back to the note (triplet). Here's the pdf to the solo. drive.google.com/file/d/1WOn7ki5xDJdWb7C1wCCzQHchC6W9pmkq/view?usp=sharing

Playing Bach's Prelude in D minor BWV999 on my Taylor Acoustic. (Blasphemy!)
Просмотров 2824 года назад
Another throw back from old Classical Guitar Repertoire. Prelude in d minor for guitar (originally in c minor for keyboard) Enjoy. Due to my playing injury years back I have re-fingered the right hand for this one so I wouldn't have to use my middle finger.

Revisiting one of my favorite Classical Guitar pieces by Francisco Tárrega. Don't play much classical guitar rep these days due to an injury so it felt good to bring this one out again mistakes and all. On my steel string Taylor no less.

Great stuff, loving the abacab shirt too!
Thank you it’s an actual tour shirt!
Darn great job
Great playing !
sooooo cool, thanks Ben
Your cross picking is insane.
thanks for the video Ben. is what you're playing the solo, or the tab? they're slightly different. i'm practicing what you're playing, and unable to rely on the tab. Thanks again, i'm enjoying practicing it.
Oh hell yeah brother 🤘🏻
Beautifully done Ben. Glad to see you posting something again. Is that a new toy? Looking forward to seeing you in November.
So close to getting this, the beginning cascading part is the hardest. I'm not great at alternate picking 1nps, I prefer hybrid but even then my fingers aren't strong or fast enough for full speed
Looking to get into chicken pickin’ and this looks like the perfect way to practice! Thanks!
The truly ridiculous part is the fact that you still have ~20bpm to go before full speed. Absolutely RIPPING.
Jesus I'm just about getting .75
Amazing
Now that’s some chickin’ pickin’!
seems like country soloing relies on many noted instead of good ideas
If I could play like this I'd never be in a bad mood ever again
That’s what i thought It didn’t work
Keep practicing, don't give up
You can be even better (well it's hard though...) It's not gonna make you happier... For some hours, some days maybe, and after you would like to go further, always further until you reach the top (I didn't reach the top myself but I see the cerebral mechanism) and then you will be bored as usual. Happyness is a matter of vision of life, not goals activements.
WOW Bro, Excellent ! One of my favorite songs from back in the 80's and you NAILED it ! Thanks for sharing !!!!!
Believe it or not, he’s only been playing a couple weeks
Damn.......
Sounds great! Well done sir
Rick and Albert can out shred like 99% of metal guitarist, lol!
As a long time rocker,,,this guitar playing is so cool and refreshing...a pure pickers masterpiece 🎨 Thank you for this upload 🎥 👍🏼💫
great job! Thanks for this!
Sweet!
Thanks. Exactly what I was looking for
You got the twang!
That's a crab boil!!
Are you playing it slower? The video of Billy playing at Grande Ole Opry is a bit faster I think...
This video has encouraged me to pawn my guitars.
Is the original cross picked or hybrid picked?
Well done! I’m currently trying to learn on a steal string as well! I think it sounds great
Nice bro
sounds cool on steel as well
You play this super clean. Great tabs by the way, Slowly working on this one. :)
WOOOHOOO!!!! GET SOME!!!!!
Haha
Raise hell praise Dale
Thanks for the comment lmao
Awesome pickn on that Tele Cat!
Thats the shit . I seen ricky on tv with the new Nashville cats . That was it for me .
I started recently with bluegrass and I watched many of your videos. Boom chicka pattern gets very hard for me after 130 bpm while playing (note G - strum) & (open D - strum) pattern using open G chord. Crosspicking triads (200 bpm triplets on triads) - is that enough? Alternate picking 160 bpm 16th notes as far as I can see is enough? The goal is to prepare my right hand for the challenges and I am trying to set specific metronome goals :)
Any advise on what clicked over and made you so good. Breakthrough?
Awesome. Thank you.
Holy Tele licks Batman !!! Friggin awesome my friend !!!
What a great solo, I'm already struggling with the initial E and C#m rolls, country guitar never ceases to amaze me, it's technically complex yet sounds so beautiful.
Great job!
legendary, THX!!!
Very nice thank you for posting..I finally just mastered Billy's "Dust in a baggie" solo on the Vinyl recordings.. I will try this next, thanks again.
Good stuff
Great work , that's a big learn,
That is some mighty fine picking. You are awesome with a flat pick.
Sounds great!
