Scoreboards for Success: Measuring What Matters in Your Law Firm
In this episode of The Effective Lawyer, Zinda Law Group CEO and founder, Jack Zinda talks about measuring your law firm and determining what matters.
Discussed in this Episode:
What is a Scoreboard?
Why does it matter?
What are the best practices?
Mistakes law firms make
What is a Scoreboard?
A scoreboard is simply a collection of data that provides a rounded view of the law firm and how it’s functioning as a whole, shared with a large group of people. This can include fees collected, demands sent, and other things. It can create what Jack calls “fame and shame”. It celebrates those who are doing well and it makes it known who is struggling or slacking.

How To Generate Business From Existing Clients
Guess what. There is at least one case I know of where the dui person was only 40% at fault in her insurance? How? I don’t know but the amount of criminal history she has sure seems right
Is it worth the time and money to attend mediation if the 4 defendants are offering $20,000 and the plaintiff is seeking 3.5 million dollars?
Wow, you just described what I’m doing right now. Crazy, I’m currently a blackjack dealer. I’m going for my undergrad in finance and then the plan is law school.
Taking the lsat and I'm 51
I bet you almost never consider that your client could be at fault.
I’m 43 and thinking about law school. For those that have completed their law degree as an adult, what were some of the challenges you faced and how did you overcome them? Thanks for the advice! 🙌🏽
This is the best podcast for our type.
Wow. I work as a slots manager, and for the last few months, I’ve been thinking of doing law school after my bachelors at 37 years old. Two more years.
32, just graduated with my BS in cybersecurity technology, studying for the LSAT for the next two months, taking it in November and plan on having my application out to Baltimore (rolling admission) by Christmas. Best of luck everyone!
I turn 147 next month and starting Law school then.
This was awesome! Thank you for sharing💯⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I'm a recently graduated lawyer from Mexico. Here, it's common to work as a paralegal while you’re in law school. Neither of my parents are lawyers, so I wasn't familiar with many aspects of the profession. I began working as a paralegal (for free) in my second semester of law school and juggled between law firms and helping my mom with the family business. Before this interview, I felt that I was “late” because I hadn’t had the chance to gain more experience before obtaining my diploma. However, after listening to this podcast, I feel motivated to continue pursuing my career. Currently, my job is not entirely related to legal work, but I am studying for my master’s degree in Trade Law and International Commerce Law. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am determined to work much harder to become a great lawyer.
Mamacita 😮👀✌🏽
Nice 🎉
Awesome information Thank you Guys👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💯
15 minutes into the conversation and so far nothing is relevant to the actual video title. Very frustrating.
I'm 38, and will be starting law school in September, so this is exactly the kind of info I need. Thanks for sharing.
Finishing up law school now and I just turned 56.
Awesome 👌
Nice 👊🏻
Congratulations
I don’t consider 40 “later in life”.I studied law hands-on,and still did all young people would do at that age, obtained my LLM and enlisted for my Doctorate in Law which will now be done and dusted at age 44-in 2026
33 & starting paralegal school in August. Tired of dead end jobs & I somehow got stuck as a box truck driver. Full mental breakdown made me realize I need a change
I'm starting paralegal school in August too!
Best of luck. Our paths will cross l.
Nice! I was a paralegal. Did a program. I have a BS and MA as well. You can do it man. My program was really hard and we all passed.
If I didn’t keep postponing and ultimately canceling my LSAT, I may have been in class with this guy. I’m in Vegas and had intended to go to Boyd School of Law at UNLV. I’m about 5 years older than him and got a bit discouraged.
How's AI changing the lawyer landscape?
What website did he mention at 11:56? I'm tried every variation of what I "think" he said, but to no avail.
I found it on the transcript but I guess the server can’t be found
This lawyer has basically lived my life
This guy is a machine, focussing in Lectures after one hour sleep?
I’m 26 and I’ve been thinking about this for a little while. Hearing this story puts so much perspective to my situation. I felt like it was too late, but now I feel early lol
I'm 26 as well and starting a paralegal program in the fall. I'm going to bridge to a bachelors (while working as a paralegal) and then apply to law school
I'm 50 and I'm 8 weeks away from finishing my work experience portion of qualifying to become a solicitor in Australia. Took 8 years working full time and school at night, but I'm nearly there. I'm scared but hopeful.
Well! I am 50, young at heart, married and two teens. I can get through this!!! Thanks!
Me too 50no kids starting soon
good luck I know you'll do great!!

Thank you. I'm 41 and made the jump. Take my civ pro final tomorrow wrapping my 1L up. Thank you for sharing. I had a lot of concern about being a late starter (out of HS worked at a bank until 9/11, then military, then school, then about 7 years in law enforcement). This motivates me to keep digging!
This was very inspiring. I'm 32 and have been debating on whether being a lawyer this "late" was the right move, especially with having a business to run.
32 is not late

I was in my 40's when I first started my journey, but that was interrupted when my mom had a stroke along with some other things. Now I'm in my fifties and I have alot of hurdles. I'm trying to find my way thru this. My plan is to finish up paralegal studies first and then working on the LSAT Any suggestions????
I’m 48, finishing paralegal certification this year. I’ve found studying law fascinating. I want to go to law school. Find the LSAT intimidating and procrastinated on studying and signing up. I do want this. I will do it this year and apply to schools. I live in California and plan to stay here. I’m still exploring the different fields in law. I know that all the different experiences I’ve had will help me in law. Trying not to think too much about my agep, and think that I would at least have another 20 years to work in law
It is challenging, but there must be so many resources to make it happend
LSAT Demon helped me a lot.
LSAT Demon is the best. Download the apps and just put the reps in.
What advice would you give to a self-taught paralegal with no college degree and maybe 10 years of career left? Anything that can advance my skill-set that doesn't take 5+ years?
Can I speak to an attorney regarding my case?
Thank you for the interview. Very inspiring.
I am 38 and this is very helpful and inspiring. Thank you 😊. Good luck everyone 🫶🏽
This podcast was so inspiring! I’m 34 and am studying for the LSAT. I’m about 10 years into my career with a bachelor’s degree in visual communication. I’ve always wanted to be a lawyer but I never thought I could afford law school. Now that I can, I’m going for it! We only have one life to live so even if I don’t get into law school - I can at least say that I tried!
How'd you do?
yea, did u get in? i bet you did!
How you do?
Just decided I'm going to take this journey at 44. Thank you for the tips!!
Make it happen!
I'm about to be 44 in a week and I'm graduating with my BS in business administration in May.. here I am considering if I should go to law school. It's been a dream of mine that won't go away.
@@butterpecanrican_ Same story here! 43, about to graduate in May, and thinking about it. Good to know it's possible 🙂
I'm starting my 2nd year of law school this fall and I'm about to turn 43. You can definitely do it!
Me too buddy
So cool this is here! I just did a video podcast at my college on law school, political topics, and being an older school student! Really enjoy your show and hope to be on one day!
I am older and I decided to go back to school. I graduate with a paralegal degree this year and am going straight to law school this year if I can get in. I will continue to pursue law until I get to where I want to be! Keep going guys!
hello sir your content is very useful can i talk with you
Thank you for this great content! I’m not sure how this came up on my feed but I’m glad it did. My husband is a 57-year old 2L now. He retired from a career and always dreamed of becoming a lawyer to give back.
im 56 and just applied. Id be interested to hear how your husbands degree changed his life
@@peterstagg5493amazing story
@@peterstagg5493 52 junior in undergrad starting to research schools, stay strong!
I will be 54 soon . Looking for a college to study law 😊
This is very inspiring. Ive fucked up my early-mid 20s and i think i want to become a lawyer. Im 28 and i dont have any degree yet. Thank you! I think im confident in doing this!
This year I will turn 30, and now I decide to became a lawyer.Good luck 🎉
Hi. I visited your RUclips channel and found it needs a lot of updates. First of all your channel video SEO is very weak due to which your channel video views are not increasing. If you do SEO then your video will come first in the search list and your video views and subscribers will increase.
Very informational and inspiring In life, whether we notice it or not, every single day is a constant battle of sometimes we would like to act out on our anger and frustration, but the law is always there are to make things, right where there is wrong doing. God please you at Zinda Law group
Thank you for the amazing content!
Thanks for watching!
I didn't hear anything about LSAT, but I'm only 5 min in.
Same I am studying now for the lsat I really want to be a lawyer but the lsat is a bit discouraging and it’s so draining. I enjoyed all of the law classes I took in undergrad so I know I would love law school lsat is kicking my butt
@@Green-nw1og Keep going, you can do it! The lsat is harder than law school in my opinion (I just finished my first year) so once you conquer it (which you CAN), you'll be flying.
This interview was fantastic! I appreciate how humble both men are and how Jason was really able to break it all down. I needed this!
Retired Marine. Headed to Law School next year! Good video!
Good luck!!
Nice
Best of luck. So many different routes to get admitted.
@@christoperbazen5912 thank you!
@@gunnyjwells1977 I went later in years and non-traditional. So it can be done. Love to see service men do it. Let me know your progress. Many people are you tubing their journey now.
Excellent questions Jack! Jason answered quite a few concerns, that have helped me feel less isolated, as an older student. Thank you both.
Glad it was helpful!
