Climate resilience on our nature reserves
🌍We recognise the threat that climate change poses to our nature reserves, so climate resilience is hard-wired into the way we manage them. This not only benefits wildlife but the whole area around the sites. In this short video, Area Manager Ian explains what we are doing at Ashford Warren to help wildlife as our climate changes.

Two bison calves born in West Blean and Thornden Woods
Просмотров 72312 часов назад
The new arrivals were conceived and born in West Blean and Thornden Woods and have increased the wild bison herd population in the project to eight. The founding herd of three females and a bull was released in 2022 with four calves born in the woodland since. Conservationists say that the calves are genetically important, coming from a specially selected lineage and will now form part of the E...

Save our Woodlands | Protect and Restore
Просмотров 283Месяц назад
To save our woodlands, we must protect and restore them. Woodlands breathe life into our landscapes,🌳but these vital green lungs are being suffocated by development, disease, & climate change. Just 7% of the UK’s native woodlands are in good condition. And huge areas of the ancient woodland we once had have been lost or damaged. 📉 These magical places provide homes for countless species - from ...

Kent Wildlife Trust meets new Gillingham and Rainham MP Naushabah Khan
Просмотров 592 месяца назад
We want our newly elected MPs to not only give us a voice in parliament but our wildlife too. That is why we have written to all of Kent’s MPs and invited them to meet with us so we can discuss how together we can create a #WilderKent and put nature at the heart of the decision-making process. Last week, we met Polly Billington, MP for East Thanet where we discussed our concerns around National...

The mental gymnastics are amazing…
Very cute. Glad they're doing well in the reserve.
Names?
Brilliant. Enjoy your new gaff, little ones.
wonderful.
great news.
Great news; thank you for the update.
Go vegan
Chough are quite easily seen on the Gower. Also Dartford warbler.
Shite interview
Great video. I love what you are doing, so necessary. Commenting in the hope more people get to see this!
Excellent news 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Well done KWT! ❤
Comment for the algorithm. Great work, thank you!
Comment for the algorithm. Woodlands are so important! 🥰
❤
Inspiring stuff
Awesome interview and production, thank you! Please add a link onto the Rewilding Britain website!
Awesome. I need to visit soon :)
Super, bravo
Wonderful.
Saw one of these for the first time this morning. Thought it was a slug at first glance. Hope the ‘lil guy finds a place to pupate. ❤
fantastic work, well explained. fabulous
When MP's gives this kind of time and attention to wildlife, it's incredibly heartening (and quite the contrast to the previous, horrible Tories). Well done Labour.
Empty words. MORE people in a country cannot possibly mean anything other than less space for wildlife and further habitat and diversity loss. Do you not realise that England is more densely populated than India, the most populous nation on the planet?
Incredibly illuminated women. Please keep us updated on the results of the project.
hope !!
Would you believe Turtle Doves are feral in Australia? They were released into the wild and are now everywhere in populated areas. We have some really delightful small doves, about 1/2 to 2/3rds the size of Turtle Doves, they are much more interesting.
Well done. Keep it going.
You're doing a great job. Keep up the good work. It's sad to say that I was a farm worker's in the 70s and 80s and we grubbed out many hedges. I've been trying to help nature ever since.
What a wonderful and inspired idea! If only there were more like you. Wishing you success in your venture.
As a business, they will always go for the lowest-cost route. I say, pay for more expensive route, taking into account the value of wildlife. Too many wet fields full of lapwings bulldozed over and never used. Too may verges dug-up by utility companies & left spoilt. The direction of travel is ALWAYS downwards.
It's time to put PRSERVATION ABOVE PROFIT! Is the National Grid investing in ‘mini’ nuclear reactors around UK?
Well done you folk of Kent. Please, is there a particular address or individual at The National Grid to write to ? Good luck from a friend in Cornwall (who, this year, has noticed a dramatic drop in particular bird species locally).
Ah, went to Kent Wildlife Trust's good website - thank you.
These cable links are vital for achieving net zero; as are projects like the high voltage pylons that the green party are opposing in East Anglia. There's always a good reason why this or that project shouldn't go ahead but if everyone gets their way no new renewable infrastructure will be built and we will miss our climate goals.
Yes. However, the implication is that the alternative routes would cost £x more to use. As a business, they will always go for the lowest-cost route. I say, pay for more expensive route, taking into account the value of wildlife.
@RussTillling absolutely, they are proposing a Substation, size of 9 football pitches and over 26 metres high, on our wonder marshland at #saveminstermarshes. Marshland, floods, Site of Special Scientific Interest. Endangered birds, amazing wildlife. Yes needed but not on this type of area. Brownfield. It's an amazing place. Look up Minster Marshes.
Most informative. The Save Minster Marshes has nearly 13,000 people against this. Alternatives apparently turned down but never advised why!
These birds are everywhere in Australia?
There is no such thing as an important nature preserve.
You're right they're not important, they're vitally important, good of you to point that out.
Clearly have no idea. sssi. Site of Special Scientic Interest.
😊😊Lovely interview with lovely people! Thank god for some positivity in farming! Thank you
Lovely to see your videos. 👏👏
Super. Thanks for the video! 😄 Be interested if there are ongoing surveys of numbers of certain species before & after the bison arrived...

Great shot a 5:05! 🤩🤩 This footage is so relaxing! I might nod off with them.
Marine wind farms to automatically become marine conservation zones? Design f9ndations of turbines to become artificial reefs?
I hope somebody is feeding these animals.
They don’t need feeding, their food is all around them.
I love following your updates on the bison - thank you.
Water level seems tad low for the numbers
Hi Keynote, the rangers check them every day and they have several ponds to drink from and a trough.
They are roaming over a 50 Ha block of woodland. As said quite a few watering points, as well as loads of shade 👍😊
@@ChasTass excellent I really hate thirst and the bugs that lurk there, thanks for the reply..
Great to hear from our Rewilding pioneer - thank you c
The description of the project says that the River Darent stretches from Westerham to Shoreham. Is this referring to the boundary of the project, as the river itself continues to Dartford? Beautiful video.
Hi Gillian, yes that is the boundary of the project. The landscape recovery project area extends from Westerham to Dartford and not into the Lower Darent. Project partners are doing other work in the Lower Darent to connect this work up. I hope that answers your question! Thank you very much for taking the time to watch!
Great to see your ambition + achievement 👏👏
The 20th century witnessed massive destruction of wildlife and its habitats. What did Sir David Attenborough say about the world’s population in his lifetime, it has trebled! The one thing there isn’t a shortage of is humans. I hope that the 21st century will be when humans give our fellow planetary inhabitants, equal rights to exist with us. Projects such as this a part of this journey. Well done to everyone involved, keep it growing.
