I heard this song on FM radio in the summer of 1973, and bought the "Countdown To Ecstasy" album the next day. The instrumental duel between Jeff "Skunk" Baxter's lead guitar and Jimmie Haskell's horn arrangement is as good as recorded music ever gets. My wife and I first saw them perform it live at the U. of Toledo on Sunday April 21, 1974, with no horn section or female backing vocalists.

What a flawless cover. That alto sax solo at 3:30 reminds me that we lost one of the greats on that instrument Sunday May 12, 2024, when David Sanborn passed away at age 78.

Thanks to everyone on that stage for putting in the years of practice it takes to perform Steely Dan songs this well.

Great post! Love hearing Gil Do Larry Carlton's lead guitar solos so proud. What I wouldn't give to hear this tribute band play the Steely Dan deep cut no one plays, "Any World (That I'm Welcome To)" from 1975's "Katy Lied" album. Becker & Fagen have ignored that fine song ever since they recorded it in late 1974.

Goes to show you how much tone is a matter of the player, not the guitar.

This is such a finely crafted solo, one of my favorite all time solos. I remember when the neck came out we were taught that they weren't any good that's what the radio said about them or somebody did that they were on Long the lines of the Monkees who it turns out was the same as the neck they were great too

I had the almost the same problem with my pixel 6 pro only difference is there is no flickering, no flashes it's simply dead I don't hear anything even when plugged to a charger nothing.
