“Whatever happens to me happens for the Greatest Good”. The Good or Bad that happens to me is a subjective notion of me as an individual limited by my experience and limited capacity. Most often an individual betrayed of trust or denied justice feels vengeful . He/she may even take revenge or run around courts seeking justice. But when helpless, he or she may cry to God and ask for justice or retribution. Yet day after day we see so called betrayers or unjust or oppressors are reigning supreme and just ones are suffering. Greatest Good is objective and has a connotation of justice of God. This justice is often postponed to Judgement Day but from time to time in his great plan and design it manifests. How will it manifest and why will it manifest and when will it manifest as divine justice in this world is mysterious and access to it is a great study in itself. Some leads and tips are always available from Blessed ones. We cannot perceive Greatest Good unless and until we truly understand God’s plan for us. We can make an effort . It may even be possible if that Merciful God opens that secret spiritual door or spiritual window to your heart or mind. Very few closest ones(Prophets) to God may know that plan which is why we are asked to imitate or follow their behaviour in order to be spiritually successful. Hence the divine statement , “They plan, Allah too plans, for the Greatest of the planners is Allah” is imbued with Divine Justice and Divine Consoling. The problem comes when an individual starts thinking what is good for “me” is in general good for “all” like Pharaoh of Egypt. This is where confusion enters between ego and spirit. At one point even if individual realises, they are different and there is no confusion, spirit is killed to keep ego alive. You see Ego is a term employed by psychologists for analytical purposes, the objective behind those definitions being discussion of human social behaviour WITHOUT using the context of God or acknowledging God and His power over his creation. It is strange, currently we are using this term which is used outside spiritual context to spiritual context because the term itself has become too well known and casual. Is “Ananiya” has same connotation as Ego, I do not know. If it is not may be another discussion for another day. In the statement “ Know Thyself (Thy Spirit) to Know Thy Lord” where is the Ego. How will you answer someone who shall say that in order to know my “self “ / “spirit’ , I am exploring all the dimensions of my ego or self and thereby exploring God and knowing God… may be in the process some even call themselves God. You see, we cannot answer that question if we treat Ego as Spirit or Self. {I think interviewer was trying to address that briefly by asking if some people get confused between spirit and ego . Mature thinking! } Pharaoh of Egypt is one of the examples of this. He started treating his Ego as Self. This confusion connotes even shirk. Instead of humbling before All Knowing God, he claimed to be All Knower, which usually atheists do. In order to aggrandise his self/ego (according to him both are one) he denied God publicly and punished those who believed in One God. God gives life and death. Oppressor said, he will give life and death and is confounded only when asked to make sun rise from the west instead of east. Atheists most often claim and are adamant about What I see is What I get: WISisWIG. In spiritual context for a believer wise notion is : What I don’t see (Ghaib) is mainly What I get: WIDSisWIG. The above two notions are two contradictory notions and are not even part of the same spectrum. They are at different tangents. That is why God says, “ It is same to them if you explain to them or not explain to them , they do not believe” ……………. In the material context, the above two notions get reversed. Transparency is honesty and vagueness and opaque is dishonesty. Hence, specifying the context whether it is material or spiritual is important for any discussion and understanding words, more so across generations. …………………………. Good discussion. I applaud you for your endeavours. Keep it up.
