Hack to improve bicycle top tube (Bento) bag functionality
Просмотров 3629 часов назад
I love this top tube bag - it's waterproof, easy to open, and looks really sharp - but the stem rubs on it and it's not that stable. Solution? 3D print a block to stabilize it and hold it away from the stem
Lifehack: Fastest way I know to put a chain back on a bicycle

I wax my chain so have to do this a couple of times each month, and I've got it down to under a minute 1) Shift to smallest cog (reduces tension on chain) 2) Use chain hook to thread through front derailleur 3) Connect chain hook to cable 4) Route chain through rear derailleur 5) Connect chain to other side of chain hook 6) Connect quick...

    Nice method! I saw a video where a garlic factory in California produces 100,000 pounds of garlic daily using a similar air jet technique. These days, fresh garlic costs about $3 per pound, and peeled garlic also costs $3 per pound, so it’s a no-brainer to buy factory-peeled garlic. They save all the small cloves and only include the larger ones in the container. The garlic stays fresh in the fridge for 1-2 weeks.

    Seems like you are blasting all sorts of contaminates like bacteria, stagnate water, rust, oil, mold and anything else that happens to be in your compressor, compressor tank, fittings, hose and nozzle into your garlic. Have you ever seen what comes out of a compressor when you drain it? Not something I'd want anywhere near food I'm preparing. Because you're blasting the garlic with pressure there's a strong chance you could be injecting nasty stuff into the outer cells of the garlic making it impossible to simply wash off. Chances are you won't get sick but why take the chance? I can't imagine a health dept allowing restaurants to use a home air compressor to peel garlic.

    • @yrwu-vd2fv
      @yrwu-vd2fv 8 месяцев назад

      Just to test out your theory, I blasted a white cotton facial pad for 4-5 minutes, and there wasn't anything at all I could see in the pad. I also tried a piece of white laboratory grade filter paper - still nothing. It's certainly possible that the industrial air compressor at the corner filling station has some of what you're talking about, but nothing visible with an oilless compressor (Porter Cable 6 gallon) which is well-maintained.

    Great video; I used the tungsten scrapers on dry solid stained (BMoore Arborcoat -- avoid this crap) deck with a shop vac. Scraping solid stain off with a little under stain wood seems to work best but it is super time consuming and you're on your knees. The tried your method with the Behr stripper, power washer and tungsten scraping -- just felt like it led to a huge goopy mess with flecks of solid stain all over the place. Also used 2 applications of the Behr stripper and it still didn't get most of the stain off. I'm going Belt Sander w 40 grit sandpaper to see if that works any better than messy chemicals.

    Thanks for the tips. I have been working on stripping stain from my deck, using a few cans of stripper, a palm sander, and power washing, but still am not finished. Grrr Like you stated, even though the stripper professes to start working very quickly, it takes a long time for it to bubble up, if at all. Also, how correct you are about the fact that if it dries on the wood, it is useless and basically it all s bear to impossible to scrape it off. Dampening the stripper sounds like a great idea. Once done, I will ‘only’ use oil-based stain. On my back deck, I used Hard Rock. It is a total waste of money, as it started to chip within months, and is impossible to remove, as it apparently is not meant to come off. I just bought a heat gun, so I shall see if that helps in the removal. Buyer beware!
