Omgggg how beautiful is this! ❤❤❤
Haha, that piece is pretty steep! Haven't been there yet this dry season..
steep indeed!! But the best weather of the season right now, cold, dry and not too smokey :)
@@CyclingChiangMai It was 10 degrees again this morning in the village. The first village under Kiewlom descending towards MHS. Brr. But hey, indeed, this is the most beautiful weather. The smoke in the morning is from the 1000's of fires lit in the mornings because of the cold. It warms up fast and the afternoons are very clear! Beautiful! Enjoy!
Good job on the jerseys Luis! Look great should be a nice time of year for the climbs. Enjoy!
Thanks, Mike! We're enjoying the weather and the cycling a lot! 🚴🏻
Luis, I would buy the new jersey if it were made available.
Thanks for your interest, Rob! We're working on new designs for 2025, stay tuned 🙏🏻
Me too - hope these become a stock item, not just a one-off
Great custom jerseys- well done!. How long will they take to complete the loop?
Thanks!! We do the MHS Loop in 6 days :)
@ Sensational. Love all you videos (fellow cyclist in Chiang Mai).
@@hotel3sixty64 appreciate it! 🙏🙏🙏
@@CyclingChiangMai I did in 7 days on a MTB 22 years ago. Back then, hardly any cafe along the route.
I saw this shop last week. It looks very nice. I found it when I was having coffee across the street, at Cuppacharm Cafe ☕️ Also a great place. Best of luck.
Cuppacharm is a great spot, thanks for the mention, we love that place too. 🙏🙏🙏
Impressive. Can I ask kg and watt?
I think around 63 kg and 320 w
@ thx. And good Channel btw.
@ thanks!! 🙏🏻😊
For someone new to the cycling world, would you recommend just buying a premade bike or trying to go this route, to save money and customize? I actually live really close to this shop in Hang Dong.
Ask "Song" the mechanic to build a bike according to your budget, he will find the best possible deal for you :)
I want to join one day. By chance do you have any videos or tips on finding a good bike for Chiang Mai? The shop's websites are difficult to sort through what is a good deal, what is actually available for someone my height 182cm. I'd like to keep it under 80,000 baht, but I understand you get what you pay for and I will likely want to upgrade at some point, so can be persuaded to spend more or less.

Amazing 👍

Hello, are there any recumbent riders in Chiang mai?
@@Cesar82nd 🤷🏻
I am surprised at the title. I live in Spain and wanted tested your theory about this place. Been here for 3 weeks, i may add some of own comments. 1) weather is great for nov- january butbbalance of the year could be a gamble 2) roads are worse than Spain. Spain has probably the best and lots of km available on flat or hills. I live close to Valencia and have done many place in Spain. I just travel from Cambodia border to Chang Mai. Travelling in the country can be very nice but be aware of dogs. Using the main roads could be dangerous but useful at times because fewer roads are available. 3) food is great in ChagMai but it takes time to f8nd decent restaurants, dont be attracted because of cheap prices. I love meat, so fewer choices 4) cycling culture. Finding a group is needed but usually involves hill rides because other roads around and in the city can be hazardous, lots of traffic lights and roads are very bumpy. 5) if you like hills, there are few but lets not compare to Spain which has lot more to offer. 6) the air quality in ChangMai is the worst in the last 3 months. I biked in Japan, south korea and Cambodia. Now when i walk or bike in around t,he city, you MUST wear a mask, otherwise your health will be impacted. 7) lots of coffee shops but always mentioned no sugar, no soy milk, no condensed milk, no syrup otherwise prices are good and decent
@@ccamire to each their own mate. I happen to be from Spain (the dude in the video) and I choose Chiang Mai every day of the week over any place in my own country for cycling (except during March and April). Too many reasons for me to waste time writing here. But again, to each their own. Enjoy your travels 🙏🏻
fuck yea.... always good to hear
I did that about 25 years ago on a mountainbike. It was in February. No Servicetruck and waterbreaks. Only one liter of water that i did carry with me.
Serious question... Is there alot of dogs around?
Everywhere in Northern Thailand, gotta keep an eye always for street dogs!
Love it
🙏🙏🙏
Unbelievable, you can read Thai; it surprised me. Anyway, Nan is one of some provinces that I think they are fascinating for cycling. Thank you for very inspiring video 😊
Thanks!! Nan is definitely a hidden gem for cycling, one of our absolute favorites! Unfortunately, can read and write better than speak 😂😂
Great video, Luis. Thanks for sharing 🚴♂️🚴🏻🚴♀️
Thanks for watching, Rob 🙏🏻 Hope one day you can join us :)

Another epic day of 8% climbs? 😉
sometimes 8 sometimes 18 😂
@@CyclingChiangMai Indeed, it's hilly. After Chiang Rai Nan is my favorite place in Thailand. Chiang Mai is too busy.
agree, Chiang Mai is busy, as the 2nd most important city in the country should be.. still a world-class cycling destination with an HC climb 10 minutes away from "downtown". But Nan is another story, much better all-round cycling terrain, with minimal traffic year-round. A great place to retire if you like it real quiet 😂🙏
I love Nan in the ‘winter’! Pua is also a nice little town to use as a base, it gets you closer to those epic hill climbs.
We love Pua! We stay one night there too during our trip itinerary 😅🙏🏻
Just an average Joe Gravel biking at the weekend. 100kg and age 62 attempted this climb whilst in CM but failed miserably, got about half way. Oh well, back to the bar for a Leo😊
@@mitch3683 Ive done it 25 times now and every single person we take up there says the exact same thing: “hardest climb in my life”, so no shame on getting to half way at your weight, come back with lighter gears and you’ll make it 🙏🏻💪🏻💪🏻👍🏻
I just see this video now! :) At the moment im on 982 rides up Doi Suthep, so my guess is it will be mid January im going to hit 1000 :)
Well done, absolute legend!!!!!
Man, what an inspiration!!!
I would never use that kind of bag. I've got a soft bag, but both sides, the front and rear, have inflatable sacks that I pump up, and when inflated they create a high pressure balloon around the entire bike, and if you press on the outside you just bounce off. Ive used it going to Europe with zero issues.
which bag do you use?
@anxietywithin The Biknd Helium case
very interesting, thanks for the tip!!! 🙏🙏🙏
36t on the cassette for the 8% hills of Thailand?
Last week we saw a couple of signs with 14% and 18%, took some photos for you... 😂
@@CyclingChiangMai seeing is believing my friend, seeing is believing.
Always always always travel with a hard case bike bag 👍 👍 Seen 3 or 4 bikes arrive here and other places in that exact same bag all with cracked seat stays, guy travelling from Australia coming here to race had to lend him my Cervelo so he could race. Another friend travelling from Canada to Italy exact same seat stay cracks. With the price of bikes these days crazy not to fork out a bit more to protect your bike properly IMHO. Hope it arrived home in one piece 🙏 🙏 🙏
Thanks for sharing your experience! This customer never had a problem with his bike/bag in 7 years... Hope it's not just luck :) I would say 50% of our customers come with hard cases (mostly Bike Box Alan), but also never had any problem with the soft cases on our trips, knock on wood!
The problem with that bag is that it doesn't protect the bars/shifters/wheels/frame from side impact. There's a brand (based out of Columbia of all places) called TripTico that do a similar bag but fully protect the bike frame/bars/wheels from side impact with spacer bars. I actually travel with a hard sided (corflute) box on roller-casters that I have made an internal aluminium frame and axle mounts for -it fits the bike, two sets of wheels, tools and all riding clothing etc (packed complete with everything is just under 32kg so within the weight rules). My preference getting to Chiang Mai is Thai Lion Air and Scoot as neither charge an oversized luggage handling fee. Keep up the videos as I enjoy seeing northern Thailand rides when I'm not there.
Thanks very much for your insightful comment and tips! 🙏😀
I was in Chiang Mai december 2022 and is wonderful place for cycling (and i am from Mallorca in Spain)

Which coffee shop was this? Do you have any other cafe recommendations?
Nice coffee Shops: - Fine & Mood - First Officer - Light Brown - Fohide - Cotton Tree
Hi Luis, I’ve been following and subscribed to your RUclips channel, as my wife and I are planning a quick R&R trip to Chiang Mai during the first week of December. My only chance to try riding Doi Suthep is on December 2nd, between 8 AM and 1 PM. I was wondering if you have road bikes available for rent or if you could recommend a shop that offers road bike rentals? I’d also love to visit your shop to buy one of your Chiang Mai jerseys! Thank you so much!
Thanks for your support! Unfortunately we are on the road during those dates, busy high season now, But the shop is open Tue-Sat 1-3pm Thanks and regards!
Very cool! I will come by to get a jersey. You think you will do coffee?
Thanks so much! We will open a brand new clubhouse with cafe in about a year :)
This is great, we look forward to stopping by this amazing location ….stay well
Thanks and see you soon!!

One critical note :: Historically, in March and April, Chiang Mai has some of the worst air quality in the world due to the burning season. The region also sees a fair amount of flooding during the end of the rainy season. For ideal cycling conditions, consider booking your visit Nov thru Feb
That is accurate. We don't cycle in March and April, too hot and smoky. The other 10 months are great for cycling, November and December are just perfect!
HI do you do cycling tours? I plan on being in Thailand in July 2025
